Calvin Johnson came within 7 yards of this record in that 2013 game against Dallas but that is the only time since this game that anyone topped 300 yards receiving in a game. One of the more under-rated NFL records, remarkable that it has stood for more than a quarter of a century with today's pass-heavy style of play.
As a longtime Rams fan i remember watching this game on tv and aside from Flipper's historical perforrmance, Kevin Greene's aerial diving tackle of Dalton Hilliard on a 3rd down late in the game was really clutch and stuck in my mind all these years.
i was a kid in high school and i vividly remember watching this game with my brother. it was a sunday night game. long time saints fan but man, flipper just killed us
He was so fast. One time he got behind Deion for a long pass for a TD but Deion made an unbelievable diving play to prevent a catch. I think it was also a Sunday night football game
He actually did once beat Deion deep for a touchdown (the only receiver I saw do it). But it was on a broken play where the quarterback had the ball for like 10 + seconds to throw. Deion thought the quarterback was going to throw to someone else and left his man to jump the route.
I listened to this on the Radio and all I kept hearing was "Anderson " all game... Hehehe... It was the most nerve racking game to listen to... So now I finally get to see what I heard that very day... Just great!! 👐
Grew up a 49er fan during this time and this was easily the toughest team we ever faced (aside from the Giants). This game is the ultimate glimpse into what could have been for Los Angeles, and if it wasn't for us rattling Everrett so bad in the 89 NFC title game and Georgia sabotaging Robinson and the team the L.A. Rams would have remained our rival for a long time in California, hope to see them again in L.A. soon (from a 49ers fan)
I believe during the opening drive, Everett had Flipper WIDE OPEN for a TD, and out of nowhere, Ronnie Lott (who ran from one sideline to another) batted the ball down.... I knew we were toast after that. Still pissed!
One of the greatest performances in NFL History. Flipper Anderson from Paulsboro, New Jersey was probably the most under rated player of all time in the NFL !
I remember watching this game as a little kid in New Orleans. Flipper went off against Saints. Flipper is also the only WR I can ever remember that beat a healthy Deion Sanders on a go route and score the TD. After he burned Deion I knew Flipper was the truth.
Hey thanks alot for this post. Ive wanted to see these full highlights for quite sometime. Yeah they were the sh*t this season. Upset knockouts of the Eagles, and Giants on the road postseason....A great Niner team then knocked em out..but an exciting year for them regardless.....
Kert2111 Thank you, great to see someone else appreciates this team's accomplishments, most people only deride them("Phantom" sack, "Weren't good enough to beat t the Miners, Yadda, Yadda, Yadda(SMH)). *Niners*
This game still makes me sick to my stomach as a Saints fan. I was at this game and was heart broken when we lost. We had the worst secondary to go with the best LB core.
Willie Anderson’s 336 yards receiving is still an NFL record. Jim Everett’s 454 yards passing is a career best. The Rams will clinch a playoff berth on the last day of the regular season. With this loss it does hurt the Saints as they will miss the playoffs.
Mike I was at Candlestick for the '89 NFC championship game as a longtime Rams' fan. Your 49ers were awesome. I admired the spirit of the 49er fans even though my Rams lost (Everett's phantom sack lol) ; I enjoyed the game and I miss Candlestick.
This guy and Willie Gault really embarrassed Deion Sanders in a race at the Superstars Competition in 1990....Deion never attempted another race on TV again
I remember watching this game in high school-the late '80s Rams were real entertaining after the Drew Hill for Jim Everett trade which gave them a great passing game after ED was traded in '87! Mike Patrick, Paul McGuire and Theismann were funny combo back in the day....
Exactly. She didn't pay Erick Dickerson, then ruined the team few years later by not signing talent.. Everett was 6'5 big arm, quick foot speed, quick release He deserved better
lol I figured someone either had a comment saying Julio or something similar to what you said. Glad I took him in 2 out of three leagues both w/ the sixth overall pick. He did cost me last week but this makes up for it
I literally left my partners house at halftime & didn't find out what happened till the next day at work. 😳 & then all could do was read the news paper to find out about the game.🤯
I mean really. What kind of coverage u are running where u kept going man to man with this guy, then wtf was the safety doing all game. At what point in time do u decide to maybe go with bracket coverage. Press at the line with an LB then have the corner run with flipper with a safety over the top. Some of the worst d playing calling I have seen
He was good but he was really just feeling it that night. He had trouble staying on the field for whole seasons as well, so I guess we will never truly see him develop (his best years were at the beginning of his career).
Flipper Anderson broke for record 336 yard sorry Julio Jones just plain old flipper according the NFL record and fact book 1994 Edition and Los Angeles Rams media guide 1994 Edition always has always will go Los Angeles Rams
lmfao, all those yards and only 20 points to speak of. They must have choked almost every time in the redzone. This easily could have been a 40+ point game for the Rams.
The Saints had one of the best defenses in the NFL, esp. in the red zone. Rams had one of the best offenses and usually put up high numbers but this was a rivalry game and you know how those go..
Calvin Johnson came within 7 yards of this record in that 2013 game against Dallas but that is the only time since this game that anyone topped 300 yards receiving in a game. +walterlv01 Antonio Brown came close to this record to this year.
+Todd P lol no
Julio Jones might get another shot this upcoming season.
Yes Walter Megatron was on fire that time 329 yds!!!!!
walterlv01 yeah but nowadays its alot about spreading the ball, with receivers and rbs
Please go back these uniforms
As a longtime Rams fan i remember watching this game on tv and aside from Flipper's historical perforrmance, Kevin Greene's aerial diving tackle of Dalton Hilliard on a 3rd down late in the game was really clutch and stuck in my mind all these years.
I remember that play and the game. I thought the Rams had no chance. Dome Patrol was no joke.
i was a kid in high school and i vividly remember watching this game with my brother. it was a sunday night game. long time saints fan but man, flipper just killed us
What an amazing achievement by Flipper Anderson! But how did the Rams amass 516 yards (454 passing, 62 rushing), yet only score 20 points?!
The Saints had a killer "D"..
+TheTruthAboutFloyd Yep, with all those yards, the Rams had only 3 points heading into the fourth quarter.
That's Mora's Dome Patrol for you
Roger Plummer The Rams of today could use Flipper Anderson and Eric Dickerson.
TheTruthAboutFloyd As stated before the Saints had a bend but not break attitude on defense.
He was so fast. One time he got behind Deion for a long pass for a TD but Deion made an unbelievable diving play to prevent a catch. I think it was also a Sunday night football game

We are back! La Rams
Respect bud true words spoken like a true 49er fan unlike others who aren't anymore or went into hiding because of 49ers current bad times
+Renegade It didn't feel the same at all with the Rams in St Louis. Plus St Louis is one of the only cities in the US that doesn't care for Football.
Mark Moore For some reason most ppl blamed JIM EVERETT for the loss in the '89 NFC title game!!!
I believe during the opening drive, Everett had Flipper WIDE OPEN for a TD, and out of nowhere, Ronnie Lott (who ran from one sideline to another) batted the ball down.... I knew we were toast after that. Still pissed!

Reg Wayton He was a high school sprint champ Gr.1
@@dwightlove3704 loss a close 1 olympic bronze medalist dennis mitchell at nj meet of champions..
Flipper Anderson was a monster this game, but people forget that Everett beasted out as well.
TayDestiny 458 yards a CAREER HIGH!!!!
Everett was great mid 80's
The catch he makes at 1:54 would probably be ruled incomplete by today's rules.
Agreed, need another angle on it to be sure.
lmfao
Royce Krueger there's always a genius to lend some deep thought to a conversation.
ASimoneau It would have been named The Flipper Anderson rule.
Dwight Love is that a joke a being serious. Really curios not sarcasm

gokoronkwo This guy beat Deion on a deep ball as well ruclips.net/video/OtmLeTkITsk/видео.html
@Marquis De Sade Okay but he had to switch of course.Who was Sanders covering on that play?????

Saints have always been tough at home
Watched the whole thing live Go Willie thanks for the good memories best night ever
I guess we owe a note of thanks to Henry Ellard for being hurt that game. lol
30.7 a catch. Crazy
Willie Anderson’s 336 yards receiving is still an NFL record. Jim Everett’s 454 yards passing is a career best. The Rams will clinch a playoff berth on the last day of the regular season. With this loss it does hurt the Saints as they will miss the playoffs.
Flipper was averaging 30.00 yds per catch one word WOW!!!!!!!
@Matthew He was not complaining about the final results.
@Matthew Point taken lol of course this mark still exist

3:39 definition of a Shoe string tackle
Willie Anderson Paulsboro(NJ) finest!!!!!
I was lucky enough to see Flipper in college at UCLA, and through his NFL career in LA. He was a clutch receiver!
He was definitely clutch. I use to love watching him when I was a kid. He would do special things on that field.
I saw him play in a high school He was the QB.
Very exciting to watch, to say the least. He played
defensive back as well.
Flipper and Henry were not no slouches .
were not slouches.

If Georgia wasn't so cheap. Everett might have had a hall of fame career
Exactly. She didn't pay Erick Dickerson, then ruined the team few years later by not signing talent.. Everett was 6'5 big arm, quick foot speed, quick release
He deserved better
This is insane. It’s like watching your friend play Madden & just throw it to his fastest WR every time hahha. Saints just had no answer for him.
The Unsung heroes of the day were Rams offensive co-ordinators Ernie Zampese&Al Saunders they turned the Rams into a pass happy unit.
T Hill brought me here lol. Andy Reid really playing Madden out there with those guys . And shout out to Flipper 360+ yards wtff😅
This guy flipper anderson beat deion sanders on a bomb. 49ers vs rams. Deion in his prime. Facts
This is crazy he gets the ball every play! I don’t think the record will ever be beaten.
The only thing holding him back was Henry Ellard. If not for Ellard Flipper would average over 5,000 yards a season.
All I heard was "Anderson"
Well this entire video is devoted solely to his accomplishment...
@@Cubroncs03 Yes sir wish it was the entire video.
He needs a legend card on madden
Bravo Mate!
The very next week a wr on the Lions ripped us for over 200 yards receiving too.
This Was Amazing 296 in regulation 40 in overtime, Nice!
Looks like Burrow to Chase from yesterday Chiefs-Bengals game. 2 man wrecking crew
Robert Massey straight out of my alma-mater North Carolina Central!!!!
This Friday will be the anniversary of this record breaking event.
Damn. #40 from the Saints.... He's also in every highlight 😂
That poor kid needed some help.
crazy part, he got two picks in that same game. Saints offense was super trash and their Defense was just out there WAY to much.
I was at the game. Saints couldn’t cover him.
Who's here from the falcons game?
Me
lol I figured someone either had a comment saying Julio or something similar to what you said. Glad I took him in 2 out of three leagues both w/ the sixth overall pick. He did cost me last week but this makes up for it
It's crazy watching the catch at 1:53 being counted as a catch.
And that's just how conditioning works, beware!
This is so insane
The record may be falling today (11-29-20). KC's Tyreek Hill had over 200 yards receiving in the FIRST QUARTER alone against the Bucs. Craziness.
Nope flipper popped that bottle
Flipper is my cousin he was at my house 2 days ago
Everett was on fire
I literally left my partners house at halftime & didn't find out what happened till the next day at work. 😳 & then all could do was read the news paper to find out about the game.🤯
This happened on my third birthday
Tim brown is my favorite receiver of all time but flipper comes in an extremely close 2nd
Wonder why this guy did not have a "'Hall--of-Fame" career, based on the way it(His career) began(SMH).
Wow!!! Stephone paige was 2nd hahah I'm old I watched them old chefs
who’s here after shannon mentioned it on undisputed? 😭
It’s funny how the announcer goes from saying Everett on most of the throws to Anderson
A career year for Flipper. He also eliminated the Giants in the playoffs.
Everett foot work, quick release, and arm strength 💪 was awesome. . Rams owner screwed the rams those days
54.6 PPR points
Man if the Rams didn't trade Eric Dickerson smh ..
Duane Thomas He wanted more money before Everett came along he was the OFFENSE!!!!!!!!
They call him flipper, flipper...
No gloves.
Damn where's deion prime time at
Ryan Mizell Sanders was not a NO SAINT.
Anderson, wow! Everett was pretty good, that game anyway.
The Saints had a bend but not break philosophy on defense but Anderson still burned them on intermediate and deep routes.

TheOGamer I think it's mike Patrick. That was the espn snf crew for years. Him, dierdorf, theisman
*Paul Maguire not dierdorf. But yea Mike Patrick the main announcer

*Chris*
Calvin Johnson almost broke the record. He only had 320 yards receiving.
Workstation its 329 for MEGATRON
Dwight Love It was a typo. Thanks.
+atworkstation No problem
Wonder why "Flipper" did not have a bigger career.
Calvin Johnson nearly broke this mark for yardage 329 yds.
