You weren't joking when you said loading up the cargo was going to be a grind, had to sit in the menu clicking for at least 5 minutes to load up the 750 tons, Fdev never played this game and it shows
I’ve found the most “fun” way to earn merits is to hunt Power Play ships in opposing power systems (ex. Alliance Bureaucrats, Alliance Enforcers, etc.) The lower tier ships like the Bureaucrats fly are easy to wipe, making the combat portion of that method easy. You can rack up the 750 required merits in about an hour. You do gain bounties on your ship but they carry zero notoriety.
Yep, 100% - and I'll cover that soon. While that's certainly more fun it's not the fastest or most efficient way to do it just to unlock a module, that's the point of this guide.
EDTutorials by Exigeous Of course! I did the method described in your guide many times until I dozed off doing the meticulous buy 10, repeat until full loop 🤣 After that, I converted over to the combat method.
I was doing it for quite a while (G5 doubleshot Vulture). Had quite a bit of fun. I guess you could say it's the poor mans alternative (or "I want to have fun playing this game" alternative lol) because this method doesn't require you to spend so much money on PP cargo.
Same here. I started a couple of months ago. All the beginner guides I watched just said "don't worry about power play, that's for more advanced players". They could have at least told me to pledge to someone....
Hey Exigeous! Just a tip, RUclips allows you to implement timestamps into the progress bar of your video now. If you put a list of timestamps in the description, for example: 0:33 Best Ship 1:12 Earning Merits 2:10 Buy and Deliver Cargo 2:51 Unlocking Power Play Modules it will segment the progress bar, and line up with the nice graphic you have up the top.
GET PLEDGED TODAY! As I said in the video, if you're watching this and your NOT pledged to a power DO SO NOW! You really are just wasting time if you're not, as there are 12 modules and it takes 4 weeks to get each. A year is going to go by very quickly and many of the modules are VERY useful. As there are next to zero negatives to being pledged GET PLEDGED TODAY!!!

Cmdr Exigeous I find your tutorials amazing and truly helpful. They are succinct to the point and effective. I have watched many and followed them to the letter and been extremely satisfied. This one should just touch on the fact that you must 100k to keep buying the materials or you have to wait 30 mins between buys a fact I was very slow to pick up on until I watched the video again and saw you do it. Sadly im not the most observant as it turns out, lol. Also worth a mention is that you may not be able to sell all 750 at one station, this is not as important as the 100k speed up tax. Thank you again for all of your hard work and i love these videos they are so very helpful Frontier should strongly consider having you on the payroll as a tutorial guide.
Glad to see you're still at it CMDR. Newbros gotta learn this somehow and it's better they learn from the wisdom of those of us who've come before than the hard way.
Great tutorial, cmdr. As usual. I just bought all my prismatics right now. In case anyone is curious, you'll be spending around 690.030.000 cr. To buy all the prismatics listed on 03:21
"To do this you’ll open galactic powers, select your power then select the control tab. You’ll then selected the closest control system to fortify regardless of it’s stats. Here we see that CF 464 is very close, at 16 light years. Now note the commodity that you’ll purchase from the power play contact, here we’ll purchase Patreus Garrison Supplies. Now select view on map and plot a route to a large station in that system. Now you’ll need to acquire the commodity you noted previously by opening starport services, contacts, power contact. Locate the commodity and purchase 750 ton, doing this in groups of 10 until you’ve reached 750. Yes, you can only purchase 10 at a time meaning you’ll have to repeat this over and over and over and over, yes, even buying this cargo is a grind in Elite. Once you’ve acquired all 750 tons head to the system you chose earlier, open starport services, contacts then power contact and deliver your goods." Doesn't anyone find this part confusing? Isn't it the same system? If not, why not mention where you buy and where you deliver? I mean since it's a tutorial, right?

So quick question lets say i went way over board and played it safe and got like 5000 merits. Im trying to get the pack hound missiles and just curious if you have to stay at rank 3. Meaning if im rank 4 but they unlock at 3 will i still get them unlocked after 4 weeks? Thanks for any answers!!
Hey I have a question.I was pledged 3 weeks 6 days before I watched this but I still got my merits completed before 4 weeks. Now its 4 weeks 1 day and its still showing im at rank 1. Did I screw myself somehow?
I followed your guides, I really appreciate the conciseness and clarity. I have a question regarding this video, I am now at week 3 and 4 days pledged to Aisling. It's saying my rating is still at level 1. Do I have to do anything else? I already did the 750 tons once, at the beginning week 1. I did nothing every week after that. Do I have to do the 750 tons weekly? Can I do this on my last week instead? Thanks for the reply!
Your earned merits will drop by half after each week. So the best way is to do it in week 3. Do not forget that your 750 merits will drop to 375 merits in week 5, and thus you wont be able to access the power play module then. So you should grab your stuff in week 4 (or you have to continue getting merits to stay above 749 merits). o7 (I know I am late; but maybe someone else reading this question in the future needs an answer. ;)
That's correct. Buy what you need because if you don't maintain your rank 3 with the faction you will lose access to purchase the special module when the next weekly reset happens.
Do not waste your time doing this as soon as you join the power; your merits reset after one week. If you want to be at rank 3 when 4 weeks pass, do this on week 3. Huge oversight not explicitly stating this in the video or adding a pinned comment.
After you are pledged for 4 weeks, earn your 750 merits, and the weekly tick happens Thursday morning, you have a window of 1 week (until the next weekly tick happens) to make your purchases. If the window has passed repeat the 750 merit step and wait for the weekly tick again. If you earn 750 merits during the window it will extend it another week. I think it carries over half your merits so you really only need to earn 375.
3:10 Says Earn 750 merits and be pledged for 4 weeks to earn module, but when week 1 and 2 reset you're back to rank 1 right? Do I only need to earn 750 merits on week 3?
I'm still a new player. So most of the money I make thus far has gone into purchasing my first ships and outfitting them. The amount of time and money it would take for me to purchase 6 to 8 modules would push me into another 4 weeks at least.
0ne important point! If you pledge and deliver in the same tick you will have to do this every week, our some other powerplay tasks until your fourth week as rank maintenance. Yes. this is week 4 for me and I didn't know this so now I get to wait five weeks and had to do the full 750 tons again. Fing fronteer....
Bro, I'm so glad you posted this because I'm in my first week and was about to make the same mistake. Now I will use the time to grind away for the 7.5 million that will go straight down the drain. And I need to grind for a type 9 transport ship I guess? I have an Asp Explorer but I've done any serious transport missions in her.
I just got a message in comms saying i should redeem vouchers or they will be lost. My power play says i have 768 merits but my rating is still rating 1. Will my rating go up on thurs or do I need to do something with these merits? BTW , nice channel. this is my goto for pretty much everything i need to know about ED.
No. Once you have gotten the 750 merits you will see that section in the rating screen light up white to denote that you have given enough merits. All you're waiting on then is for the four weeks to be up.
Dammit!! I wish I'd known about this a year ago when I started playing the game properly during lockdown. Oh well, I'll do it now for sure. I'd have had the pack-hound missiles (whatever they are) and prismatic shields by now. As mentioned below, the links to the Type 9 fits don't work any more.
heres something i noticed while looking at the power play rank tab. there is a box at the top left that says "Ratings are rewarded at the end of the cycle. to maintain it you must earn enough merits to unlock it next week" does that mean that i need to get double the merits for one week?
If I am understanding this correctly, then each cargo equates to 1 merit. Is there any reason to not have your rank higher while you are waiting for the 4 weeks? Do you still get the money bonuses, or is that after the 4 weeks too?
I pledged to Asling Duval to get the shield. Kept saying "I will do the 750 next week"... 152 weeks later, I finally got around to doing it LOL. Figured I'd just stay pledged at this point LOL.
I'm a little late to the party and was wondering, what if I'm not on when that Thursday rolls around, do I only have that time to buy the mods, or is it any time as long as I'm still pledged? Thanx
Thanks for the video, I followed this exactly and pledged to Li Yong-Rui last Monday, contacted the Power Play group via the link you added, purchased a Type-9, collected and delivered 750T of their recommended cargo to the recommended system and this Thursday when the tick clicked over-saw that I only have 375 Merits! What's gone wrong? Do I need to repeat, spend another 7.5mil and haul another 750T of cargo?
The system halves the amount you have "banked" each week, so 750 drops to 375 at tick #1..... if you do nothing else, then that'll go down again on tick #2. You'll need to run 750 to begin with, then 375 each week if you want to maintain a constant balance of 750.
So to clarify and please correct me if I'm wrong (very new to power play) Once you have done the 750 delivery, wait till the Thursday refresh to get the merits THEN after 4 week of being pledged you can buy the module. If had been pledged for 2 week then did the delivery I would need to wait only 2 more weeks to buy the model's. After the modules are purchased ( so after a 4 week and 1 day time period) leave the power and go to the next one. Is this all correct? Thanks for the help!
I think you lose a percentage of your existing merits each week, so you probably want to collect your merits just prior to your 4 week period ends or you'll have to go get more. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I don''t get how you could get 750 Merits by cargo delivery in an hour. You can buy 10 cargo units and then have a cooldown of 30 minutes. So after an hour you have a measely 20 cargo onboard. In my calculation this means 75 times loading 10 tons cargo, adding up to 37,5 hours of cooldown time. And this is, if you do nothing else but logging in every 30 minutes, add the cargo and log out again for more than one and a half days and nights without sleeping. Does not sound like a good method to me. What do I get wrong here? Please help!
Yeah, is there anywhere I can reference what the faction wants me to do without wading through discord? They even want me to provide screenshots just to join...Why tf do people have to convolute this game even further??
Late to this video but only just looking at PP for the modules :) The "Exigeous' Engineered Type-9" link has engineered clean drives, why not dirty for a bit more power for the lumbering hulk? I thought the heat differences were kinda null between the two?
"very little negatives for being pledged" I beg to f*** differ.. Getting interdicted every few seconds and getting blasted to smitherines while trying to land in other power systems are pretty big f***king negatives.
I wish i could join a decent squadron on xbox that actually caref about her powerplay. But i cant find any. And the only one i actually found was a discord server that was basically like a military roleplay thing where you had to send screenshots to pass a security check. Like bish you actually think i want that. I just want homies to chill with and tell me where and when i should transport the data stuffs to for proper powerplay and bgs stuff without feeling like if i consort with people from a different power then im gonna be arrested.
Jo, I've been delivering over 850-900 tons of cargo last week or the week before even like you showed in your video. In my Powerplay Rating tab it showed up once as *Earned This Week* and on next login it was all at zero. Did a few more, did a different system, nothing changed. One, maybe even two weeks passed now since and I am still rank 1 with ZERO merits showing up. Dafuq is this shit? Did having OD-alpha mess things up? Anybody else have that issue? This grind is abhorrent and gut-wrenchingly vile as it is already. If it's just not counting your progress I might have to look up how much the pricing is to ship a few kilos of feces to Frontier HQ.
I thought if you were pledged to a power you couldn't land at opposing power systems and they would attack on site? If that is true thats the only reason i need to not be aligned with a power unless I'm doing this for the goodies
As said you can absolutely dock anywhere you want - now a player could attack you if they were pledged to the power of the station you docked at and you wouldn't be able to fire back but NPCs will leave you alone. This is pretty much the only negative to being pledged (and what I meant when saying there was next to no down side to being pledged). So assuming you aren't pledged GET PLEDGED :D
The part that I was missing is that you're not taking 10 tons at a time, you're buying 10 tons at a time. So while you're sitting there in the station, you're making 75 purchases at 10 tons per purchase, then you leave the station provided you have a big enough ship to hold all 750 tons.
Please don't just fortify the nearest system. Fortify the nearest system that is already at 100%. If there is a system close under 100% it's like that for a reason.
3:13 uhhhh... What "window" The only time period specified is the 4 weeks I need to be pledged to gain access to the modules (along with the merits). But then you move on the talk about some only being able to purchase the modules during "this window" You didn't even specify a window? Did you? A little confused right now.
So I’ve tried doing these missions and I am loaded up with the only two materials it will allow me to carry. Can’t deliver them to any of the systems. This game is so frustrating with missions and a mapping system that tells you were to go.
OK. I think I understand now. I followed the video and today was my fourth week pledged but no prismatics are available and I'm still rank 1 after 750 merits transferred in the first week. I guess now that you have to drop off 750 merits each week? Can someone verify please as the video did not make this clear.
No, you pledge...... wait 3 weeks, then the night before (Wednesday) The server rollover you do your powerplay grind (750 merits) then when you go back on Thursday evening you should have access to your shiny new weapon/module. I didn't realise but you only have access to that weapon/ module for a week because you have to keep your merits up if you want more, so stock up on the first week of access and get as many as you need, then you can defect and pledge to another..... wait the month out and rinse/ repeat.
ok so fly to the faction's home system, by 75 things of 10 goods each, then fly to fortifying system and sell all 750 things which then turn to merits? i wasn't sure if thats what i saw or not

Hey Exigeous! Just a tip, RUclips allows you to implement timestamps into the progress bar of your video now. If you put a list of timestamps in the description, for example:
0:33 Best Ship

I followed all this and when i get to system it tells me I have nothing to deliver despite a full cargo, has this changed?
Do not waste your time doing this as soon as you join the power; your merits reset after one week. If you want to be at rank 3 when 4 weeks pass, do this on week 3. Huge oversight not explicitly stating this in the video or adding a pinned comment.
I'm a little confused. You mentioned a Window ? can you only buy these items for a limited time ? And if so what happens after the window has passed.?
After you are pledged for 4 weeks, earn your 750 merits, and the weekly tick happens Thursday morning, you have a window of 1 week (until the next weekly tick happens) to make your purchases. If the window has passed repeat the 750 merit step and wait for the weekly tick again.
If you earn 750 merits during the window it will extend it another week. I think it carries over half your merits so you really only need to earn 375.
@@wtlilly Thanks for the info buddy 👍
Bro, i sweaaar you have the fuckin' best voice for this
3:10 Says Earn 750 merits and be pledged for 4 weeks to earn module, but when week 1 and 2 reset you're back to rank 1 right?
Quick question - does this mean I have to maintain 750 merits per weak (I.e. I need to do this cargo delivery every week?) for 4 weeks?
No. Once you have gotten the 750 merits you will see that section in the rating screen light up white to denote that you have given enough merits. All you're waiting on then is for the four weeks to be up.
@@kendragon2012 I tried this, no luck, should i go to a particular station?
why do i have to pay fast track for more materials?

Dammit!! I wish I'd known about this a year ago when I started playing the game properly during lockdown. Oh well, I'll do it now for sure. I'd have had the pack-hound missiles (whatever they are) and prismatic shields by now. As mentioned below, the links to the Type 9 fits don't work any more.
Thanks a million man, your a life saver.
heres something i noticed while looking at the power play rank tab. there is a box at the top left that says "Ratings are rewarded at the end of the cycle. to maintain it you must earn enough merits to unlock it next week" does that mean that i need to get double the merits for one week?
If I am understanding this correctly, then each cargo equates to 1 merit. Is there any reason to not have your rank higher while you are waiting for the 4 weeks? Do you still get the money bonuses, or is that after the 4 weeks too?
I pledged to Asling Duval to get the shield. Kept saying "I will do the 750 next week"... 152 weeks later, I finally got around to doing it LOL. Figured I'd just stay pledged at this point LOL.
Yeah, you wouldn't be the first to do that, nor the last :D
72 weeks to Aisling Duval for me
I pledged to her just before Christmas 2018, then joined DWE 2 in January '19 and decided I do the power play after DWE 2 and then didn't until now.
i need help w powerplay cargo but how do i deliver it? in contacts tab or what?
O7
so the cost listed at the start is 7.5m. but if the cargo costs 100k, wouldn't 750 units be 75m?
I'm a little late to the party and was wondering, what if I'm not on when that Thursday rolls around, do I only have that time to buy the mods, or is it any time as long as I'm still pledged? Thanx
Any time
I'm confused with what cargoes to buy, is it media or the other one ?
Friending you in game. Your tutorials are Fantastic
I think your website is down right now, trying to look at the contacts.
So to clarify and please correct me if I'm wrong (very new to power play)
Once you have done the 750 delivery, wait till the Thursday refresh to get the merits THEN after 4 week of being pledged you can buy the module.
Pls explain what u mean with "only availible for a certain time window"!!
I don't get it... It just doesn't allow me to buy the supplies!!
The build links (s.orbis.zone) appear to be broken
See the update on my Community page about it - they are broken *everywhere*, we are hoping the developer that supports it fixes it soon.
You have the option to pay 100,000CR after each time you load 10 cargo in order to bypass the cooldown period.
Yeah, is there anywhere I can reference what the faction wants me to do without wading through discord? They even want me to provide screenshots just to join...Why tf do people have to convolute this game even further??
Thanks! Great tutorial. ✌
Late to this video but only just looking at PP for the modules :) The
"Exigeous' Engineered Type-9" link has engineered clean drives, why not dirty for a bit more power for the lumbering hulk? I thought the heat differences were kinda null between the two?
Thank you so much for info. 🙏
FYI, you need to be pledged 4 weeks, THEN do this. I did it in my first week and that doesn't work.
Not sure what you mean purchase modules how can ?
Im curious what build on that mamba with all MCs is
"very little negatives for being pledged"
I beg to f*** differ..
Getting interdicted every few seconds and getting blasted to smitherines while trying to land in other power systems are pretty big f***king negatives.
What is the difference between prepare and fortify?
That moment when youve been pledged to aisling duval for almost 18 weeks
I've been pledged to her for like 32 and forgot about her.
Before that I was pledged to ALD for like 89 weeks at one point.
172 weeks gang, opened the game after 2+ years of not playing)
how do you buy the cargo multiple times?
Only preparation I made for the 2020 big update is slowly going back to the bubble, but I dont expect too much after 'recent' info...
You will be able to dock anywhere you want, but you might be intercepted by ships aligned with other powers.
@@Exigeous i was misinformed then thank you
I had to make a few runs because I had only 200cargo,on the way back I could trade some stuff to get the money back
by "that window" you mean? a week?
I must be missing something. If you can only take 10 tons at a time, then why do you need type 9 or other large cargo ship?
The part that I was missing is that you're not taking 10 tons at a time, you're buying 10 tons at a time. So while you're sitting there in the station, you're making 75 purchases at 10 tons per purchase, then you leave the station provided you have a big enough ship to hold all 750 tons.
Can you do are run of 640T + a second run of 110T to hit the 750 Merit Mark?
Of course. Cumulative amount before the deadline is all that matters. He's stacking it in one go for personal efficiency.
Please don't just fortify the nearest system. Fortify the nearest system that is already at 100%.
If there is a system close under 100% it's like that for a reason.
Videos like this are so f'ing annoying for groups are actually doing power play (not just for the modules)
Seethe and cry.
The only detail I missed is how merits "decrease" or how they are lost. Cost me a few million credits not knowing that!
3:13 uhhhh... What "window" The only time period specified is the 4 weeks I need to be pledged to gain access to the modules (along with the merits). But then you move on the talk about some only being able to purchase the modules during "this window" You didn't even specify a window? Did you?
A little confused right now.
How did you know I just started looking into this? Thanks CMDR o7
Still the best tutorials for ed. Really bad there no new guides now((((((((((((((((((((((((((
So I’ve tried doing these missions and I am loaded up with the only two materials it will allow me to carry.
Yes each week.
@@Niko-Bellic-Soulsguys Cheers 👍
@@brucewelsh1969 did you farm your merrits in soloplay or open? I want to farm an power again but try to avoid open xD
@@Niko-Bellic-Soulsguys I farmed mine in group play. Not open.
Thx
So you do your 750t, and just wait 4 weeks? You don't have to do 750 each week?
No, you pledge...... wait 3 weeks, then the night before (Wednesday) The server rollover you do your powerplay grind (750 merits) then when you go back on Thursday evening you should have access to your shiny new weapon/module. I didn't realise but you only have access to that weapon/ module for a week because you have to keep your merits up if you want more, so stock up on the first week of access and get as many as you need, then you can defect and pledge to another..... wait the month out and rinse/ repeat.
endoblader grand thanks o7
Yep, just as endoblader says - if you got them in week one by the time you hit week 4 you'd only have 94 left (as they cut in half each week).
@@Exigeous just waisted 7.5 mill then ... :)
ok so fly to the faction's home system, by 75 things of 10 goods each, then fly to fortifying system and sell all 750 things which then turn to merits? i wasn't sure if thats what i saw or not
Hi, I'm a new subscriber and reasonably new player to Elite Dangerous clocking in about 60 hours of game time. I was wondering what were your methods of making credits in-game? Considering you have the most amount I've seen of any ED RUclipsr. Would love to hear back from you and keep up the good work, loving the quality of your videos so far!
The best money making in this game is mining. Give
“Hawkes Gaming” channel a look. Specifically the
“How to have the best start in Elite Dangerous” videos for 2019 and 2020.
I was a kickstarter backer and couldn’t make any money lol. He walks you through making money in a very noob friendly way.
Your Orbis link arent working.
Yeah, there is something broken with the URL shortener that Coriolis uses is down. I and another user have opened an issue with the developer in Github so we'll just have to wait until he fixes it. If it takes a while I'll update all the links to TinyURL that would just take a while.
Can you still do this in soloplay?
Yep, good to do it in solo to avoid the brainlets in open play.
