Ha! You totally get it! Not just the image producer, but the people who operate the cameras, lights, etc. Really gotta be impressed with how many people make it all work. When we saw AGT live, we must have seen over 100 people rush onto the stage to change everything between each act. It was overwhelming to think how all that is coordinated.
He has the traditional wall of TV screens in front of him where he can see all the cameras (he doesn't count higher than 10 so I'm guessing 10 cameras total), he's doing a good job staying with the beat definitely! What he says in Swedish is mostly just a number between 1-10 followed by "Nu" which means "Now", which he says whenever he snaps his finger. It's impressive that they keep it so well with the music!
So many interesting comments already from people who work in the industry so thx for sharing! It's such a fascinating look at the behind the scenes we rarely get to see. And if you want to contrast this with low budget production, check out our vlogs :) ruclips.net/user/johnxlulu
They do rehearsals with the cameras! Freddie once posted his practice sheet of his lyrics where it said which camera (number) he was supposed to look into at each line of the song!
Since i was the guy that pointed to this clip in the first place I might have to explain it. The woman is counting down changes according to a schedule. This schematic is made from how the rehearsals went. He is the one that calls the changes and the image mixer guy/girl (not seen here) is listening to him and not her. The image producer (bildproducent) is making decisions on the fly by listening to her and also watching the camera feeds. On a couple of ovations here he calls out different cameras from what she says. Mainly this is on audience and judges reactions.
Was an intern on a few seasons of this show, among them this one. Some of the best people in the industry really do work on them. In this specific production they are using a computer program where all the cameras and shots are mapped into and so they know exactly when to cut to whichever. So the woman (the gallery PA/script supervisor) is counting down to each cut and then the director says which camera to cut to and then "Now" when exactly he wants to cut. The camera people all have an iPad with the incoming shots rolling on screen, think there is about 8 cameras on this production (among them a crane, a steadicam, and generally two handheld). It truly is fascinating. The whole day before the show is rehearsals and it can go on fairly long, but the people on the coms system can get off on hilarious tangents at times, I've heard some weird conversations from my time at this show :).
Wow wow wow! Sounds like one fascinating internship! So glad you found us and added additional insight! So how does the image producer know which camera to go to? Does he just look at the screens and see which one would be best? Or was it all mapped out beforehand?
@@ReactToTheWorld It's all mapped out by him beforehand, but there is room for improvisation if things go wrong or he sees something that works better.
The Swedish word for this is "Bildproducent", which literally mean "Image producer", but I don´t think that´s what´s it´s called in English, it somehow sounds like "Swenglish", like when you just translate something word for word, too literally. I think they´re called "director" or "technical director" in English, or something like that.
You should listen to Sebastian Wallden singing back to black and love on the brain. He’s also from Swedish idol and won the whole competition like Tusse and Chris
This is such an awesome video to react to. The people behind the production really should get more credit. They're doing an awesome job! 🤩👌
