Dear Clare, I don't know what impact it generates in your heart to transmit to the world your knowledge, your painting techniques through your video posts. But know Clare, the impact on the heart, in the technical, social, financial and economic improvement in the lives of thousands of people around the world is enormous. For all this, we are grateful to you.
Dear Jose, gosh such a lovely comment and words, I appreciate them thank you. I am really pleased people are enjoying my videos and painting. I will continue making them. Sending best wishes, Clare 🎨👩🎨
So helpful seeing how you work and how the painting builds. The split screen is useful because I always long to see the palette and the mixing and those things aren’t always included. Looking forward to more videos!
Thank you Caroline - I'm really pleased you think the split screen is useful as it's something we hoped people would like - as I too like to see the paint mixing as well as the paint application :-)
This was such a fun video.. there is so much life to this painting.. I can't stop watching... everything about it the colors.. the vibrancy.. I hope you will be doing more videos.!!
Thank you for such an informative and interesting demonstration of oil painting. Great to see the colour mixing and saying the colour choices. Quite amazing to see the process and the lovely finished painting 👏😊🎨
Priceless tuitorial! Amazing talent! It was pleasure to look how you built the whole paint, played with the colors and handle the brushes! Thank you for sharing your talent with us! Greetings from Bulgaria!!! ❤️
@@ClareBowenArtist Thank you for your replay! The video is not only helpful. Very inteligent explanation of the colors mixing, plus we can see how do you do it. Not many artists do that. I already subscribed for your channel ❤️❤️❤️
I so enjoyed this video - I love watching your painting process and understanding the steps and colour decisions. The quality of the film is incredible and the split layout works really well. Thank you! Hope to see some more
Thank you Clare. This is a quality video, so professional and such a vibrant, fresh painting . Great to see your process, especially with the split screen and I shall certainly try the white ground for my flower still life, so effective
You must be a very magical special soul Clare, because, what is in the heart comes out of the brush. An absolutely lovely, very clever and happy painting. Thank you. Sitting here in South Africa and it is Summer and has been cloudy and rainy for weeks. Hardly any sun at all, and your lively happy painting and cheery video cheered me up, lovely, thank you again.
Hi Denise, what a lovely comment! Thank you so much for your kind words. It does mean a lot when people like our videos. I hope you get some sunshine in SA! Best wishes Clare x🩷
Lovely painting Clare! - Thankyou so much for sharing!😊 Your accompanying description of colours and brushes used, together with showing how you mix your colours is much appreciated! 😊
Hi Clare, what a wonderful journey to see where such a beautiful painting started and enriched to the finish!! I like the word you used "use the brush to 'describe' the leaf"....
Thank you so much for being so generous with your knowledge and experience. 🤗 It definitely inspires me to loosen up in my painting and try to capture the essence of the objects instead of being caught up by the unnecessary details. Your paintings have beautiful mood and I love it.
Great video, thank you! I really enjoyed watching your process, very educational. Just wondering, do you usually paint on a white canvas, or was that special for this demo?
Hi Lea, thank you very much - I tend to paint on a white surface for my flowers so it makes them more luminous - as the white effects the outcome. For landscapes it changes depending on the subject and time of day.
I can tell you painted this from life, from a bouquet of sunflowers and not a photo. Your perspective is a bit higher than that of the inset photo. I like painting from life. I feel much more a part of nature and capturing what I see; expressing a viewpoint. Nice!
Wow!! Clare, so beautiful. Let me ask a question: Do you ever lay down an overall tone, such as burnt sienna? Sometimes I think that muddies the colors from the start, but, at the same time it unifies the painting overall. What is your philosophy on applying an overall tone?
Hi Eric, good question! I tend to start with a white base but sometimes apply a base colour as I go or an underpainting. Depending on the subject and what it needs. Hope that helps. 😊
Thank you Pamela. I do use a paper towel to wipe my brushes. If it’s a very different colour I change the brush so it doesn’t muddy. I don’t tend to wash my brushes in between because it thins the paint too much with residue turps. Hope that helps? Best, Clare
Beautiful painting. What is the container your paints are in? I noticed you used it en plein air as well. Do you store it in some kind of tube? Thanks so much!
Thank you Jaunie. It’s called a Palette Garage from USA. As you thought it does cone with a plastic tube. I find it really practical especially for Plein air. Best wishes, Clare
Hello, I’m new to your channel. I’m only recently retired and just starting out on my oil journey. I would like to ask a question….. is it alright to paint along and show my final painting on instagram? Naturally I would credit you !
Hi Gwen, I'm pleased you like the video, a shame you are not keen on the music, I will see if the recording of the music is set at one level. Best wishes, Clare

J' aime ton style, tes sujets, tes couleurs !!! et j aimerais savoir, est ce que tu utilises de l huile ou seulement de l essence ? merci
hello Isabelle I'm pleased you like my work! I use just Oils :-)
May I ask what oil or solvent do you use to mix the paint?
Hi, I use Gamsol as a solvent and it is odourless and better for you!
Hello, I’m new to your channel. I’m only recently retired and just starting out on my oil journey. I would like to ask a question….. is it alright to paint along and show my final painting on instagram? Naturally I would credit you !
Yes of course you can Fred and happy painting!👨🏼🎨❤️
Oil?
I only use oil paint Lolita!
Great video but drop the super loud music
love the video but not in favor of music. The music was too loud and distracting for me
Hi Gwen, I'm pleased you like the video, a shame you are not keen on the music, I will see if the recording of the music is set at one level. Best wishes, Clare
