Wake up to Rhykker doing Lore Videos? It surely isn't Christmas! What Realm have I ventured into. What a wonderful video to watch and be entertained by instead of all the horrific and depressing things that have been happening in Real Life. Thanks Brotha!
I was a teenager in highschool when D1 came out, me my brothers and dad all played but we didn't really care about the lore nor did we considered ourselves "a Diablo fan" at the time... it's so nice (and sad) to hear the story of Tristram and Diablo 1 again, and now that I've gone through the past lore videos, I have a much better understanding of what's happened in the world of Diablo... I feel so hyped for the upcoming game, as well as feeling excited about diving into the next lore videos which is about Amazons, my absolute favourite class in D2 which I spent countless hours on making different builds! Keep these lore videos coming Rhykkerd Cain, can't wait to stay a while to listen more!👍👍👍
Absolutely. Rhykker is doing what he loves. I used to follow him back when he had 10k subs. Followed him on and off as my interests changed but I keep subbed to him regardless now. He's pretty much the best at what he does.
Its so odd; I started watching this series about 2 years ago and then stopped. Just yesterday I decided to revisit it (not because of a notification) and low and behold, a new episode dropped. Unreal. Really enjoyable; I hope you continue to release more lore videos and soon! Thanks.
Awesome video, in my opinion, D1 has the best storytelling in the series, if you actually go after it and read the tomes you can find in the dungeon, listen to NPC gossip, do side quests, etc. You start the game as an adventurer returning to town and all the information you are given at the start is that there's some evil shit going on in the cathedral, Leoric's son is missing, Leoric has gone mad, and Archbishop Lazarus seems to be behind it. You start delving in the dungeon in search for answers (to quote Adria), and the game is as much of a mystery game as it is an ARPG. As you proceed through the dungeon, more quests are available to you that reveal more of the story (particularly recommend a mod like Beelzebub to be able to access all quests in the same run), and more tomes reveal some awesome lore dumps, such as the history of the Sin War, the greater and lesser evils, and so on. Until eventually you find out that Leoric's son is being used as a vessel to try to summon Diablo back and that you need to stop that from happening, or at least defeat the demon before he's fully awakened. It's a simple story, but masterfully delivered in my opinion, in a way not unlike that of the Soulsborne games (the story is there if you want it, and you can freely ignore it and just kill the bad guys otherwise). It's why I occasionally enjoy to revisit this game, even though as an ARPG it has been long since surpassed by it's successors.
Agreed. There’s more to the first one than it seems to give at its introduction. Further depth, the beauty in its agony and horror, all the options, detailed features with differing character, its legacy had tremendous potential. Small details like the warrior not wearing his helmet (modern on / off feature in social spaces and some cutscenes), ability to play an alternative universe’s path by saving the character and loading a new game, characters being unnamed so we have a plethora of heroic fates, finding the key characters named in the sequel and tormented into oblivion, different item sizes, types, and usage-influencing our senses with weight and burden… Some of the possibilities in the first instalment are found limited in the sequels if not axed outright. I miss the spell books so much…
I watched a lot of diablo lore videos before, pretty much the whole story of the franchise, but your videos always have the touch of a true diablo fan and even the humor to go along with it. I don't have the money to support you, i can barely pay my bills in time, but i trully hope you don't stop making those
Binged the rest of the series first when I saw this upload because I actually hadn't seen any of them before. Been pretty wild to watch your progression throughout, but cool to see how far you've come and how much more comfortable you've gotten in front of the camera. These must be a pretty big undertaking to compose, what with the rest of your regular content schedule, so I appreciate that you're still doing them! Looking forward to the next installment, but no pressure to rush out another one immediately.
"...confirm that the body is not that of Aidan's brother. 'Aw, phew, what a relief! It was just some *other* poor innocent child. :)'" absolutely dying
Best lore explained quick and concise! You need to do this weekly for many more topics. You have so many different characters in the story, and you know how much lore their is for each one
Just watched the entire Lore series. @Rhykker thank you so much these are so entertaining, the best Diablo lore videos on the Internet! Can't wait for 2023 for the D2 episode!
I can't wait when we get to the end of Diablo 3 when I'm 70... Memes aside, this series was what brought me into Diablo and got me to try out Diablo 3 (I know the community consensus isn't that positive, but for my first game in the series, I liked it). Keep up the good work Rhykker !
I started watching Diablo walk-throughs recently because of Diablo 4. The games didn't explain anything about itself. So I searched for videos on lore. Your videos came up, they're awesome, funny, and well detailed. New subscriber, right chere 😁
The best impression of Deckard Cain I've ever seen and a reference to my beloved G.I.Joe toyline ... Best episode EVER! Thank you Rhykker!! You're the best!!!
If Diablo 4 is gonna do one thing right, please let it be the overall feel and lore of the games Diablo 1 and 2. I just love it when you enter the first place in D1 and your character goes "the sanctity of this place has been fouled" It's just so nice and i'd love it if D4 has some awesome one liners that your character will say.
Rhykker, I venture to make a post that may bring pain, as it's a tender area. I very much think of your father, when I see Lore videos, and now that it's the first you've made since Nick Miozzi passed away. I'm still very much wry with emotion. AS I edit this, I find it's not even been two months. I hope I haven't made the wrong decision is expressing this. I appreciate you sharing his story! I cherished you sharing that, and how he inspired you , and how (I agree!) he is the the best dad anyone could have had. You father was the best of the best of them. You make me happy, even though its bittersweet to see these lore videos. I can't help but get teary, but I'm so glad to have known what you've shared of you father, and I know these lore videos are a great tribute.
Remember when the Heroes of Diablo wasn't godlike beings? And when The Butcher was a unique demon, feared even among other demons? Good times... You know, before everything was reconned to fit with D3.
DiabloIII *is* a good game in many ways. I don't see what was retcon for it, and I even find it way more logic and respectful of the lore to solo defeat the power of the Primes Demons combine with a Nephalem Many characters in the games serie were Nephalems. Why is it so wrong to play as one in DiabloIII ?
@@filb1324 To each their own. Personally I felt it gave the world/story more weight that although the world has magic, it was still humans that fought back and won. Retconning all the heros to suddenly be divine abominations, more powerful than demons and angels, takes a bit of that away.
I love the idea that you bring the lore to Diablo. Dark Lore Dash always has some great vids as well, hopefully you guys can get together and make lore babies hahaha
Just finishing watching all of your Diablo Lore videos in the playlist. I love these!! Hope all is well man and looking forward to more Lore in the future!! My husband and I love Diablo 3 and learning all the lore has been these games way more enjoyable!!
i played d1 on the ps1 with my brother when it came out...glad youre talking about the lore of that game that is often overlooked (and rightfully) by the masterpiece that D2 is.
I love the story of the the Blizzard North crew watching the cinematic scene where Aidan jams the Soulstone into his own head. None of them expected that, they were not exactly ok with it, and yet it allowed the story to continue with D2.
Can't wait for Rhykker to get to the lore of Diablo Immortal... Hint to the script of that episode: "Now, onto the Diablo Immortal lore... None of this ever happened. That's a wrap of this weeks video."

My favorite part of Diablo Immortal was the part just before fighting King Leoric where the NPC was like "Slay the Leoric, it usually works", That made me so happy and sad at the same time.
I don't know if Leoric is as tragic as Leah. Say what you will about D3's plot, but being literally born and later sacrificed by your mother for your father's sake is all kinds of fucked up. Sure, she got a good decade or two with Uncle Deckard, but realizing at the end that your whole purpose for existence was to end the world? Like damn.
Ah shit... And I had done so much work today too... Now I've got to do it all over again when I wake up... Great video, and respect for your dad telling you to do lore videos again. May he rest in peace.
I always imagined the three heroes went into the cathedral separately and didn't work together as a team. That explanation seemed more appropriate given Diablo's emphasis on horror and being alone as opposed to being in a team. The "wanderer" ended up going east solo and with no mention of the rogue and sorcerer which further seemed to reinforce the solo theory.
Yes!!! Every time I get a @Rhykker notification I hope its a lore video. Thanks man. Used your promo code for my squarespace site as well 👍. Keep em comin

Thanks for the vids, hope you keep going
You know why you cool to me ? You dont have a loud ahh annoying voice i feel like your happy to see us but not begging for anything to happen not talking too fast not being cringe, you have a genuinely fun spirit. Playfully jealous and seriously proud of your work ethic , love you guys god bless
lol holy shit dude you really nailed this one. I laughed, I cried, I gasped. I never actually played Diablo 1. I was only 11 years old when D1 came out, but I was 15 when D2 came out, so that's when I got hooked. wild to think there's some teenage kids out there who will play D4 as their first title. thank you so much for this video!
Posted 2 hours after I finished watching the whole lore series, what a day.
Lucky you, hopefully the next one won't take a year to make

indeed. Explored lore is not always a good thing, the veil of mystery works wonders.

You know why you cool to me ? You dont have a loud ahh annoying voice i feel like your happy to see us but not begging for anything to happen not talking too fast not being cringe, you have a genuinely fun spirit.
Playfully jealous and seriously proud of your work ethic , love you guys god bless
Thank you for the kind words!
Wow, has it been a full year since the last one already? Damn, time flies.
lol holy shit dude you really nailed this one. I laughed, I cried, I gasped. I never actually played Diablo 1. I was only 11 years old when D1 came out, but I was 15 when D2 came out, so that's when I got hooked. wild to think there's some teenage kids out there who will play D4 as their first title. thank you so much for this video!
