Hey I was wondering if changing the travel also changed the length of the fork when it's uncompressed. I have an axon boost and I'm wondering if dropping to 120mm will change my stand over height.
Sorry for the really late reply to this question. I was told you would need to replace the air shaft. SR Suntour should be commenting here soon to confirm. Thank you!
Hi. Thank you for your video. Helped me a lot. By the way, do you know what are these small plugs for (small torx screws) located low on the rear side of each stanchion ??? Is it for adding oil from time to time ?? Best regards.
Hey for SR Suntour forks there isn't fork oil in the lowers. We recommend dropping the lowers, wiping them down and then putting a fresh coat of light grease like slickoleum, slick honey or judy butter.
Hello sir, thanks for sharing knowledge! Could you please tell me if this suspension is full "fixable"? I mean, during a maintenance both sides can be opened and its parts be renewed or there's one side which is "locked"? Greetings from Brazil :)
The travel change is specific to SR Suntour forks. The air volume spacer is also specific to SR Suntour but other brands are similar (just need different size tools and different spacers).
I see that you have an Axon 34 on the video. So what should I do to reduce the volume in the Axon 32, since on the Suntour webpage they say the spacers are only for 34-35mm forks?
The Axon 32 "supposedly" is 80-100-120mm of travel. That means there should be up to 4 spacers to insert. I'm not sure where you can purchase extra spacers, hopefully there would be a couple in a plastic bag with the new fork.
@@rgmtb sorry haha. Im goin to adjust the travel of my xcr air fork, the actual travel is 120mm in going to reduce it into 100mm. I think i need spacer to reduce the travel.
Might be broken spring, or the fork might have worn bushings, it might be creaking steerer, crown, stanctions, but apperently that does not happen much on sr suntour compared to Fox. But I've not tried so can't confirm this. If you hear a scraping sound or get inconsistent performance it likely the negatyove spring Tha that's snapped, on coil forks it can be the coil too. Some part might be loose inside, might not been assambled properly or worked it self loose. Check the bolts.
Is the knocking at return to full travel only? If so some forks are just like that, bad design of internals, causing a knocking sound, 2012 Marzocchi corsa had that, so did Fox 36 think it was 2018 or 2019, I don't remember but bikeradar has a video.
My 32 is not a real lockout, even though Suntour claims it's within 2mm. I can still get at least 10mm of travel with the remote lockout. Sometimes up to 30/100mm if it's on a technical trail (that was a test, I don't normally lockout if it's going to be that bumpy). It's not a huge deal but it's a bit false advertising. My Manitou Machete and Suntour Raidon are 100% lockout. This is not. It's simply extra compression by maybe the equivalent of 4 extra clicks above the 16 when locked out. Otherwise it's a good fork, only 3.2 lbs and smoother than the Machete & Raidon. Not as smooth as a Manitou Mattoc but that fork has a DH air spring.
Supposedly the 32mm stanchion Axon Werx F can only do 80-100mm of travel. Which is strange if it's the same PCS air spring as the base 80-120mm Werx. The F is preset to 100mm travel. I'd like 120. I'll follow these relatively simple instructions, hope I don't screw it up (don't think I should), and see if there are zero or two spacers inside. On the other side of things, I still don't understand how compression works without oil on Suntour forks (is it similar to a coil spring-preload?), but either way I will not mess with that side of the fork.
@@NoPlansGarage yup I’ve noticed that… i use oil… like a gear oil i don’t remember what viscosity it was something like 90w70 any gear oil will do! Just put 10ml in the air chamber and since it is not compressible like air it will act like a volume spacer its been working great and saving me from bottoming out…
Nice video as always, I learn something every time I watch. It really helps seeing others do these projects before trying them.
Hola amigo, tengo una Axon de 120mm y la quiero bajar a 100 ¿ es nesesario colocar un espaciador de volumen?

How to change the travel of axon werx carbon 34
110mm to 100? do I need to add air volume spacer? Can anyone help me

How's that ancient GT Avalanche in the background @ 2:37? Does that get ridden?
Great video! (Although I was hollering at the screen when you were trying to pull the fork apart without tapping from the bottom, lol)
Trust me, some choice words where brewing in my head at that time as well! HAHAHAHA
good showing your mess up..many wouldnt do that.thanks Gene
What fork oil was that you were using?? Im lookig for some to oil up my stanchions a little bit thanks??

I have a Suntour Auron on pre-order. This is very helpful. Thanks for sharing!
Your watch is beautiful sir what brand is that?
does it only have 1 hole for the stopper?

Hey man just asking where to get volume spacers for 32mm stantions?
Here ya go
www.srsuntour.us/search?q=volume+spacer
Would've been nice if you indicated what specific grease and oil was used.
Can you do this with any airforks??
The travel change is specific to SR Suntour forks. The air volume spacer is also specific to SR Suntour but other brands are similar (just need different size tools and different spacers).
I did this on an axon RL-RC 29 "(100 by 120mm), but now my RL lock doesn't work (it seems to be constantly unlocked). Any idea what happened?
is this the 34mm axon?
Sorry I'm new to this. Does adding air volume spacer changes the travel?
Not on Rockshox or Fox. You need to change the airspring to change travel on those.

Can i ask if what is the inside diameter of the spacer need? I want to make diy here in machine shop.
I'm not sure what you're asking for. I'd be happy to help but can you explain this again for me on what you need. I certainly do what I can for you.

Good day sir, i have an issue on my sr suntour axon 32 fork. When i hit a consecutive hard bumps, there is a knocking inside my fork.

@@mtbboy1993 thank you so much. Really appreciate your reply
@@francisalbina5278 did you figure it out or get it sent in for inspection?
@@mtbboy1993 the problem probably was the dust seal. I did spray it with wurth silicone spray to avoid brittle
Does the gear oil have to be synthetic?
I don't think it maters
Hello does this boost axon has same internals on the non boost axon? Thanks!
From what I can see on the SR Suntour website they do look the same. I can't personally say I've taken the non boost apart but I'm fairly certain.
@@rgmtb Thanks for answering. I am about to adjust the travel of my non boost axon to 120mm travel.
Does your axon lock totally, like really 100% stiff when in locked mode?
Pretty darn close.
My 32 is not a real lockout, even though Suntour claims it's within 2mm. I can still get at least 10mm of travel with the remote lockout. Would've been great to see the before/after difference between the two travels..... but cool!
That's what the measurements was for that I showed.
Is it normal when I take my air cap off that air starts to come out?
Not at all. Are you loosing all the air? Not sure what's going on but that should not happen
Make sure your shrader valve core is tight. Or you need to replace it
Is this an axon werx?
Does not look like it is
Plus the werx has a pneumatic negative spring whereas this one has a regular negative spring
Is this possible also for Axon nonboost 32mm?
I'm going to try this procedure with the 32mm, I'll keep you guys posted on how it went. 1st time I'm working on lowers ever.

Can i put these volume spacers on my suntour raidon 32 fork?
Suntour does not make spacers for that fork. I’ve tried searching as I have the same.

@@venim_2393 just watched a video showing the same was something like 80w90 gear oil. I’ll try it out.
Good job 👏
Are these on polygon extrada??
I don't think so. This fork was an upgrade for to my D6.
I opened axon werx and there's no spring
85w 140 oil?
My mechanic just remove the spacers and from 100mm it goes to 120?
If it was me i would have put fork oil inside the lowers just like fox would do.

I prefer silicon o-ring oil instead of gear oil .
