My brother in law and sister in law are members of the Church of Jesus Christ. It is so interesting to me to find all the churches that use the Book of Mormon as scripture. Fun side note watching this video. We were at Liberty Jail for a tour this summer and the McKay brothers were there on the same tour with us. They were very knowledgeable about the facts of things that occurred at Liberty Jail.
As a member of Community of Christ I am disappointed that someone from the church was not there to share a testimony. As a member I am also not shocked that no one from Community of Christ was present. We (Community of Christ) need to do a better job.
The Book of Mormon is true independently of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. People are blessed by reading it whether they join the Church or not.
This story is interesting. Thankyou. I have 3 spiritual experiences that told me the nemenhah records are true, too, but I'm not nemenhah. Also, the ojibwe nation released more about their records that back the Book of Mormon, too.
Cool! Next step: conversion. The introduction of The Book of Mormon promises us, "Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is His revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the Second Coming of the Messiah." I know this is true. You cannot seperate The Book of Mormon with the true church of Jesus Christ. 💗 This church is true. Jesus Christ is our Savior. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Yes, there are people outside of the church who also believe and belong to Christ. Just as much as you do. Isn't it shocking. Also we have memebers of the church who have only read the book of mormon and not even the Old and New Testament... I met a few never read revelations... I was shocked.
In the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, more than 150 different independent groups have formed to follow new prophets, to defend …(Splinter groups-break offs). It seems if the Lord's spirit is testifying to them the truthfulness of the BOM-it would lead them to Christ's only true and LIVING church with President Nelson holding the keys and the only one receiving (true) revelation to the church, (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). It makes no sense. Most of these break away sects oppose a lot of what we believe and teach today in the chapels and our temples. These groups have formed for a variety of reasons, including: To follow new prophets, To defend polygamy, and To continue practices that the mainstream church has discarded.
@Hometheaterguyusa1 I'm a member of the same church as Josh Gehly, The Church of Jesus Christ. Our church traces it's roots to Sidney Rigdon, who was Joseph's designated successor. we reject polygamy. you use a blanket statement that certainly applies to other churches in the restoration, but not all. I encourage you to learn instead of assume
Very cool but very confused. They all believe in the BOM and have a testimony of it but.. why don't they get baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints?
I would even go so far as to say the BoM would point people away from the modern LDS church due to how the church has moved away from many of the beautiful doctrines contained in it.
@@Misa_SusakiYes but The Book of Mormon makes a statement at the end of the introduction. “Those who gain this divine witness [of this book] from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is His revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the Second Coming of the Messiah.”
Wow, modern Mormon men with beards?! Now there's a restoration if I ever saw one. (Non-Mormon descendant of Brighamite LDS pioneers here so I'm playfully teasing).
See the Book of Mormon is true but there's some corrupt leaders that have betrayed me and slandered me in persecuted me but they did that to Joseph Smith so I don't feel so bad. 22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. 23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. Luke 6:22-23

Not necessarily, first the translation must be approved by the first presidency and quorum of the twelve. Next is there must be enough native speakers to translate the Book of Mormon. And lastly, each manuscript goes through review before publication. There are articles. One from the BYU religious studies center called "To Every Nation, Kindred, Tongue, and People" I hope this helps.
This might sound like an apologetic work around, but it is a simple fact that when Joseph said that, the BoM was only published in English. The BoM has truth, regardless of what language it is written in. That's what we mean when we say that.
This…this was absolutely and totally forbidden to me growing up. Why is the Church doing this? Entertaining these near Mormons was grounds for excommunication. Two members of my home ward were actually excommunicated for sharing writings of the RLDS prophet at the time. What is going on?
Sorry to hear about your negative experience! I've never felt that way, but I'm only in my 20s. In the 80s, my uncle worked with a lot of fundamentalists to try to understand them, and hopefully mend the schism between our churches. He did this under the employment of the church! It's all good stuff.
The Bom is one of the main reasons I left the LDS church. Not because it isn’t true, but because I believe it is. I believe the doctrines in it and that the LDS faith has moved away from it. I pray for all of my LDS family and friends.
I love all of my Restorationist cousins! Anyone who believes in the Book of Mormon already has the Fullness of the Gospel, and so they have everything that they need in this life. I am very grateful for the continuing revelation that I feel I can receive in the LDS church, but I acknowledge that you can still be in communion with God and not want to be a part of that church. I will say that even Joseph Smith would have been (and was) considered a heretic at the end of his life, as his own Nauvoo revelations seemed to be at odds with what was written in the Book of Mormon. The endowment, plural marriage, and three degrees of glory (to name a few) are not found in the Book of Mormon, but I still believe them to be truth! There is room for all of us in the restoration, and I'm glad that you have faith in the Book of Mormon. It's a wonderful thing.
@@kennabruno7465 I strongly believe the LDS church does not follow many of the teachings contain in the BoM. In fact, I believe the BoM to be one of the strongest "anti-LDS" books that exists because it condemns the church for apostate doctrines and practices. Tithing has been corrupted. Temples and ordinances, the same. The law of common consent was replaced with "sustaining", polygamy is the abomination as noted in Jacob 2 (D&C 132 was not written by Joseph), and on and on.

since you know absolutely nothing about either, does it really matter? How obtuse your comment is claiming a witness of the Holy Ghost is trumped by your weak grasp of archeology.
Thankfully these testimonies are associated with something that directs people to Jesus Christ AND a church that, love it or hate it, recognize all its problems or not, seems to **overwhelmingly** produce more close families, young 20 somethings, and people in their communities who BUILD UP those communities, ACTIVELY help other people, as well as radiate kindness and light on a scale that seems to be not only unmatched by any other organization but astoundingly unmatched by any other organization I can think of.
