Well, Joseph should not have been murdered, but he often disobeyed the law. He was arrested for inciting a riot by destroying the printing press in Nauvoo that reported on his previously secret practice of polygamy. He had been charged over 30 times throughout his life of other crimes. Why does he get a pass for illegal activity?
It’s important to distinguish between being charged with a crime and being convicted of one, and this distinction seems to have been overlooked in your post. Your portrayal of Joseph Smith’s legal issues does not align with the historical record. As you have claimed he was charged 30 times yet the real number is much higher! Consider this: Was Jesus Christ accused of disobeying the law? Indeed, He faced accusations from authorities which led to His crucifixion. When evil prevails, it often labels good as evil and vice versa, a pattern observable in many situations, including today. Additionally, while various reports exist, not all are accurate or provable in a court of law. Many allegations, whether historical or contemporary, lack substantiation and should be carefully scrutinized.
@@TheWordsofChrist Thanks for responding. We are commanded to “obey the laws of the land.” My question was, why does Joseph have a different standard? I’ve never been arrested, nor charged with false crimes - let alone over 30 of them. What explanation do we have for Joseph to be involved in so many crimes? Is our explanation purely that the “forces of evil” were against him? Was there zero wrongdoing on his part?
Did you read over my previous response? If someone is charged but not convicted, it logically suggests that either no wrongdoing occurred or that there was insufficient evidence to prove any involvement of wrongdoing in a court of law. If a person faced numerous charges-much more than 30 times-yet was not convicted of those charges in a court of law, is it not logical to conclude that others may have wished to harm Joseph Smith or his character by repeatedly making frivolous claims in an attempt to do so? It's important to note that our personal experience of not either being charged or conviction of crimes ourselves don't directly impact the discussion about Joseph Smith. We've seen cases recently where DNA evidence has led to the release of individuals who were wrongly convicted of serious crimes. This demonstrates that sometimes, despite legal convictions, the truth can reveal that someone was not guilty of the charges against them.
I wrote a story about Gethsemane many years ago. I sent it to Elder Holland. He actually read it and sent me a short letter about it. He did not have to do that, of course, but he did. He IS a very good man. He is a prophet, seer, and revelator.
I have received a witness by the Holy Spirit time and time again of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I love hearing the words of Christ in that book. The prophets also truly do testify of Christ and how much he wants each of his children to repent and return to him. It is important for true joy in our lives to believe in him, be baptized and follow him by making and keeping covenants, recognize him as our Savior and redeemer . How blessed we are to have his beautiful gift of the atonement of Jesus Christ for each of us.
I also have a spiritual knowledge of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. Anyone can receive this witness as God is no respecter of persons. My soul is also very grateful for the Bible. Throughout my life I read these books most days to get closer to Heavenly Father and Christ.
I don't know why P. Holland touches my soul as he does, but I absolutely stand with his words. He is truly a prophet of God and I stand amazed at his loving sincere testimony.
@jake8882 Their belief system is nothing but righteous and good. It's actually not even their belief system but it's the Lords standards and teachings. Our leaders speak for the Lord when under the influence of the Holy Ghost. Nobody is perfect but most are trying their best. They belief in righteousness and goodness. The articles of faith will tell you what they believe.
Thank you for this Heavenly talk. I believe that our Father and Savior are very pleased and will bless you for. I feel privileged to have been led to your channel.
Thank you for posting this! I add my name to Elder Holland's and say with absolute plainness that The Book of Mormon is true and is a book of scripture as precious as our beloved Bible!
I may not active in the church for how many years but I know what Elder Holland is true. I know the Gospel is true. I'm may a not perfecf daughter of our Heavenly Father but I know the church is true.
You are in good company as no one here will claim they are perfect either. The Lord loves you and invites you to pray to Him for hope and help. Reach out to your local bishop or branch president and they will help you to return to church.
The church is a hospital for the sick. It is for ALL who *want* to be healed. Don’t be too hard on yourself. God loves you and wants the best for you. Thanks for sharing this with us!
The Spirit touched my heart powerfully as I read your testimony. I often feel inadequate but one thing I know for sure is that we are children of an Almighty God that sent His perfect son to redeem us. Let us surrender the one thing we uniquely have to offer Him: our willingness to be obedient to His commandments!
I glory in the Lord and I love and honor this man, Jeffrey Holland, who testifies so boldly of a true prophet of God. Joseph Smith was the first prophet in this dispensation and he was the best man to do the work that God called him to do. That of a young man who was a farmer, uneducated and so humble. I stand with him as I do with the Lord and his gospel of which I am a part of and so thankful for each and every day!
Jeffrey R. Holland is so relatable to so many. He is one of my favorites, but I love all the Apostles. Thank you all for your desire to serve our church and God.
We love you Pres Holland!! ❤ I remember the power of this talk years ago and it seems to be even more powerful now!! The timing of when he gave this is no accident. It seems to me, to be a precursor of the days ahead and the days we are in 15 years later. As Sheri Dew has said, “Prophets see around corners..”.
This is one of the most inspired talks I have ever listened to. I remember it now. I'm so happy to be able to hear it again! One of the best witnesses of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon ever given! ❤❤❤
Okay world in general and those who oppose the Church specially; Take this testimony and put it to the test. Remember that at the last judgment, not only will you Nephi, Mormon, and Moroni, but also Elder Holland of the truth of the Book of Mormon (2 Nephi 33: 15). His testimony humbles me with its fervor and sincerity. As he said in the end of his talk, '... if you do not believe these words, believe in Christ, and if you do believe in Christ, you will believe these word for they testify of Christ' (2 Nephi 33:10-11)
The Book of Mormon are the words of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, which He commanded his ancient prophets to be written that it may come to light in the last days to the convincing of both Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ. Given by the angel Moroni written in gold plates, translated by the gift and power of God through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Joseph and Hyrum were not separated in life and even in death. They sealed their testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon with the shedding of their blood. The Prophet Joseph knew that God knew it and he could not deny it. I am so greatful for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and for our living Prophet today: President Russell M. Nelson!
THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS IS THE LORDS TRUE CHURCH HERE UPON THE EARTH 🌎 PLEASE PRAY AND ASK GOD IF THIS IS TRUE AND RECEIVE YOUR OWN SPIRITUAL WITNESS OF IT'S TRUTH
How about this: "The Church of Jesus Christ " We believe by called than his "Name". "The Church of Jesus Christ of The Latter-day Saints"... Whom you choose? Called or name?
You’ll begin to see results once you start doing the things you know you should and ask the Lord with a sincere heart. The Lord does answer, but He may withhold answers if He knows you won’t accept and act with faith once you receive them. The Lord is so loving that He doesn’t want to add the sin of disobedience to our burdens. So if you’re serious, ask yourself this question: "What do I need to start or stop doing to get closer to You?" You’ll likely receive a gentle impression right away, and it’s probably something you’ve felt before but may have ignored. This time, don’t ignore it. Start or stop doing what the Holy Spirit has prompted you to do, and don’t forget to ask the Lord for help. Doing this consistently, day by day and hour by hour, will bring you to a point where you can receive even greater answers. Trust me, it works. Try it now and see how your life changes as you turn to God and invite the Lord to help you do what you couldn’t do on your own.
I was in attendance in the Conference Center when Elder Holland gave that wonderful talk. It was given in October 2009. I was so thrilled when he gave his wonderful testimony of the Book of Mormon. I wanted to stand up and shout I agree and hurray. God bless you Pres. Holland
This Book of Mormon is true. If you want a copy, look for the missionaries. They have a badge on them and they would be happy to get one for you, then pray to know if it is true. It has changed my life and it will change yours. ❤
What a powerful message. It is true. As a college student I accepted the challenge printed in the book on Moroni 10:4 The Holy Ghost bore powerful witness that it was true. It was the real deal and I always remember that and shall never forget that special experience.
This is what I find the most interesting. When all the early apostles of Christ died they did so professing Jesus was the Christ and Son of God! They died for and in their belief! Joseph and Hyrum died under nearly the same circumstance. The early Apostles could have recanted their message when death was threaten, but they could not and would not disappoint God and that is probably exactly how Joseph and Hyrum felt about it! They knew death was literally at the door, but they stayed true to the cause! You don't have to believe in the book to feel it's effects! Just like you don't have to believe in Jesus to see how your life changes if you follow his teachings! AMEN!
Thank you President Holland for a wish bold testimony if the Book ofMormon. I feel your spirit so strongly when you speak. I love you President Holland
The ancient apostles went about healing and casting out devils. It is one thing to stand at a podium and bear testimony, and it's quite another do the works that Christ did and be hated, jailed, and beaten for them.

Very stage 1 faith. Good for a simpler view of life. It works until it doesn’t and circumstances necessitate a deeper look into the gospel
Why am I seeing commercials in the middle of a talk like this? You've monetized Elder Holland's talk?
The channel is not monitized. I'm personally of the opinion that doing so would be priestcraft. See welcome video description for more details.
What if you guys are the deceived ones?
Deceived about what exactly? Scriptures, Christ, Prophets, Prayer, Holy Spirit, 10 Commandments, Repentance
@@TheWordsofChrist all of the above
What if we don’t?

Absolutely, it's true that anyone, including leaders, can be susceptible to deception. In our faith, we emphasize personal revelation and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help discern truth. While we respect and value our leaders, we also believe in seeking personal confirmation through prayer and study. This approach helps ensure that our understanding aligns with divine truth, as outlined in scriptures and personal revelation.
