I worked waiting tables at a little bistro, and the owner (being too cheap to hire a host/hostess) would assign one of us to work the register. So I was assigned one lunch shift, and then I counted it out, it came out even, and the dinner shift server who was assigned the register counted it back. It was exactly correct. So, later that day, I'm home chilling, and the owner calls and wants to know why the register is off. I'm like "Idk, I'm not there? The register was right when I left." She made me drive BACK to work so we could "sort this out". I have no idea what happened with the register, but she took half the missing money from my pay, and half from the other server's pay. 😡 I quit not long after because she was so insulting about it, basically accusing us of stealing from her.
