I’ve been betrayed and mislead several time with the new seasons that I’m starting to think the warlords of NYC had a point. If we have a traitor again, I’m gonna lose it
This year was very very interesting for the story...I'm itching for the next season to see just how deep we are pulled under. I also think by the time we get to the last season, Manny will be 'retired' so to speak and our new man in the ear will be Schaefer.
I am just now going through the James Parrot books and now Athena, Maira, everything from these comms now fits into place, like some Tarantino movie... I love this detail. Thank you Loremaster, I often miss the complete picture, as some of the comms are displaced, missed in the field or not allocated out of season... I rely on your diligence and thoroughness in collecting and collating (with great humour) to stay on course and truly get the most from my immersive (semi roleplay) gameplay. I look forward to joining you on your journeys Agent. (GMT +11 here AEST) THANK YOU NGN :)
NGN..... thanks for these lore/story videos, they are fantastic. I had to stop playing for a bit but when I came back to the game I was lost story wise... you're videos helped me to understand whats going on and catch up with everything 😁
Another great video NGN. Actually, I don't agree with you and think Sokolova is "crazy". I think she knows what she wants and is going about it in a planned out way. We may not agree with her, but I do not think she is some sort of psychopath like some of the other factions. She is ruthless, but also smart. That does not mean she is a good guy or does not need to be put down, she does. I just don't think of her as some crazed warlord, just lusting for power. I do wish Ubisoft would address the meta story, even a little. Yeah, I know The Division is, at it's heart, a looter-shooter and the story/lore is likely not the main focus. Still, it has been setup as the organization fighting to get things back on track at a national level, and I see very little to indicate how that is going, Tom Parrott's books notwithstanding.
A theory that I've had for years (for various reasons) is that our character is actually as deadly and skilled as our playing of them would indicate. What i mean by that is that i dont think it can be explained away by "oh you're the player so of course You're just awesome" i think in-universe, in the lore, our agent is as deadly as they are because theyre abnormal even by the standards of division agents. I know each person is different and a particular level of training doesnt trump things like being grossly outnumbered or even just bad luck (top tier special forces guys get killed by bad luck in combat "zigged when they should have zagged" type stuff) but going by what other division agents in-game and in-lore typically face and how many of them have fallen to relatively minor threats i think our agent has attracted a lot of attention based on their exploits. I think lore-wise Sokolova and McManus have been able to piece together that one particularly problematic agent has made their lives very difficult and ruined many plans that have been highly planned and choreographed, and i think the recruiter has noticed that as well. I also think our agent from D1 (because it's basically confirmed that our original agent is not the same agent as who we're controlling in D2 because key figures from D1 dont recognize us when we meet them) is either dead, or perhaps a member (undercover or otherwise) of either black tusk OR was "recruited" (or might even be the recruiter themselves, but i think that's a pretty low likelihood) Canonically in both games we've "piloted" extremely lethal combat-oriented agents that overcome insane odds stacked against them regularly, and i think that's why during the events of the first game every encouter with hunters was a hostile one: they were tasked with hunting agents that were a threat to their mission of "managing" the division. Whereas in D2 the hunters dont really attack (in most cases) unless they're attacked first, and now this "recruiter" is in place and potentially trying to make contact, they've been keeping tabs on us for one of two reasons: they either want to learn how to beat us or convince us to join them. Canonically all the events in this game have been accomplished by a group as small as a maximum total of 8 agents (unless I'm forgetting something crucial) and speaking from a purely american military standpoint its interesting that the 4-man teams or "cells" also line up exactly with the modern American military model of a fireteam. A fireteam is four soldiers and a squad is two fireteams with a squad leader overseeing both teams. Its interesting because outside of the raid(s) the maximum amount of players in a single group is 4, which would be a fireteam, the smallest combat unit in the military. Our player is never given a concrete background because military service isnt a hard requirement for recruitment to the division (there are technical specialists firemen, police, engineers, and various other backgrounds that the division draws its talent pool from, and all would be highly important for saving what remains and rebuilding in the aftermath) but our agent seems uniquely oriented for combat with very few other major technical aspects, we don't really do any technical stuff aside from plugging ISAC into computers and having him hack stuff for us. Much of this CAN be explained away by saying it's for gameplay reasons but it isn't for the most part, it's heavily implied that our agent is a highly skilled and heavily combat focused individual. Other characters and even other agents seem surprised at times by what our agent is capable of in combat, and its often mentioned by the small handful of other agents that we interact with that they doubt their ability to do what we can in terms of combat. Some of this can be chalked up to "main character syndrome" but a lot of it is also directly mentioned and commented on in-universe so maybe there's something to it.
Here’s what messes with my head though…In promo trailers they show multiple agents working together in situations; meanwhile in the game & game cutscenes they write the dialogue like we’re the ONLY one who came to DC to fight lol!
NGN, Serious thought here If you see this: Could the Recruiter or the Double agent here potentially be Rogue Agent Ike Ronson? -Known asset for the Black Tusk relatively early on through Mantis. -Experienced with Division Comms and tech given being a former agent. -No confirmed death in the battle at Ann Arbor, Michigan. (Broken Dawn book) -Haunted by his actions leading to the death of Civilians In New York. -Clearly had internal conflict already about if what he was doing was right in the lead up to the Battle at Ann Arbor. Potentially he could've been extracted by the Black tusk, assigned to the Hunters to aid the Black Tusk in there mission early on given his experience as a former field agent, but seeing what they have done thus far and/or what they have planned he's starting to realise those internal conflicts he had in the past have seen him on a wrong path and now he wants out, maybe saving Mari to prove his loyalty is back in line with that of the SHD?

To be fair, Ubisoft themselves have stated the whole thing regarding your character is entirely up to you; However, it's not known if Division 3 is even in the planning phase, let alone in pre-production, so we don't even know where it would take place.
@dragonbornexpress5650 I heard there was a division 3 in planning I hope they get to work on D3 and honestly I'd just like some in game canon for our D1 agent not the whatever your headcanon stuff is yknow immerses you in the story more
@@devilsbane598UT Not really the point, though; This is an MMORPG, so it makes sense that headcanon is kind of the main focus as to your character since, for some people, they don't want to play as their Division 1 character.
