    Agents, we've recovered five of the hostages taken in the attack on the White House.
    But, with each member of our community, we learned Natalya Sokolova is not the murderous psychopath we assumed.
    I don't know if it's General Anderson's influence on her organisation, or if spending her life on the move is getting to her… but it appears the Black Tusk have adopted True Sons tactics, and are looking to shore up infrastructure, and build something.
    What that something is… it’s too early to tell without Vik.
    As Mari says, "he knows her operation, he helped build it"
    Agents, if we want to rebuild the Castle, and know what Sokolova is really up to, we need to get Vik, and unmask the asset.

    My thanks to you for these videos. I started playing D2 in late 2020 and was quickly immersed in it, but I always felt a bit confused with the story, having come in so late after several seasons had already passed. It was hard to catch up with all the details and I felt I was missing important details.
    The game quickly became my every day pastime, and eventually I felt I was getting pretty good at putting builds together, learning the mechanics, etc., reaching SHD level 1800 +. A large life-change came my way in August '22 and I had to move across the country, and my D2 couldn't come with, sadly. I really miss it, the story, the soundtrack, my agent, getting stronger and better, etc. I literally had tears come to my eyes when I listened to the soundtrack on You Tube, the first time hearing it in over a year. I realized then how much this game meant to me.
    Your videos help me stay connected to a game I love, but might not ever get a chance to play again. I wish I could discover these story details myself, but that doesn't seem likely, so thank you again for the videos so I can keep up with the Division universe.

    I may be the only psychopath in the Base of Operations, but I actually much prefer seasons focused on killing targets rather than rescuing them. All jokes aside, I don’t care for most of the civvies we rescued, but some of the comms they gave us were huge. I loved The Recruiter, who he was, his character and motivations. I feel like his reasons for joining the Hunters actually makes sense. Solid season overall.
    However, I REALLY dislike how they didn’t give us the satisfaction of actually killing The Recruiter with our own hands

    • @ItsDobbie
      @ItsDobbie 8 месяцев назад +6

      I’m kind of annoyed that the Recruiter just turned out to be one of the original three agents from the cover art. The Recruiter was one of the most “shrouded in mystery” type characters we’ve seen in the franchise since Div 1 Keener, and he just turned out to be an agent from the cover art.
      Honestly, making him an entirely new character that we’ve never heard of would have been more exciting imo. Also, for a franchise that has historically been great at throwing in plot twists and double agents, etc… they made it way too obvious that Agent Johnson was the Recruiter. Idk, I guess you can’t have an incredible plot twist for every piece of narrative content in the game, then it just gets repetitive and boring 🤷‍♂️

    • @sinner2133
      @sinner2133 8 месяцев назад +6

      @@ItsDobbieI mean, yes, Johnson was in the cover art, but apart from that (and the fact that he was featured in the books), he really wasn’t that special. I think the reveal would’ve been way less impactful if it was someone completely new we’d never heard of. I would’ve been like “wait, who’s this asshole?” and that’s it. I didn’t need someone I knew a lot to be the recruiter, just a familiar name.

    What was weird to me is that when we face our first Hunter in the initial series of manhunts with Bardon, we encounter Wraith who does speak/scream in something like dial-up. Even Cal says that Hunters are instructed specifically NOT to speak. Yet during Mari's rescue, you can hear someone talking to Mari about when the coast is clear for her to come out. Undoubtedly this was Johnson speaking to her but then why would he choose to speak to her.
    What would be cool is if it turns out Kelso had a hand in helping us from New York by getting into ISAAC and guiding us away from falling into BTSU traps. What if she disabled the protocol that masked the Hunter's speaking recognition which allowed us to hear the exchange between Johnson and Mari. I also wonder if Johnson was also being fooled by Cal in thinking we were helping him get the SHD server to Natalia when in fact Kelso was guiding us to rescue Birdie which would explain why he seemed confused by our "actions".

      They're just the New World Order trying to establish a new America on top of the Old A. Anyone not on board of course is all every man and woman for themselves, the seat is open and someone should take it. Keener wanted Chaos, Kelso wants to help everyone, Lau saw Homeland Security taking advantage of a crisis that caught the whole world by surprise, Bardon was a patriot trying to keep the lawless in check, and Johnson was apart of the failsafe program to prevent absolute power from corrupting absolutely. It just doesn't answer why the Hunters were so brutal in their executions.

    Awesome video as always.
    I also think that Nat isn’t building a necular proof city just to drop a bomb. No she’s building a new City that is sustainable. Think about it. Right now the world (or at least the USA is a string of settlements. Each with their own resources, but each operating independently. Think of it like the Wild West all over again. If you could build a city that housed 500,000 people think of the resources you could leverage. You would have enough food, power materials,schools ,etc. the City would become the new capital. From there, you could take over the smaller settlements not by force, but through trade, or just convincing people to move to your larger City that has stable power, stable food, etc. that’s Nat’s end goal. She’s setting herself up to be the new president. Or at least my opinion.

    Appreciate your great efforts in the videos mate.
    Unfortunately this Manhunt was a huge disappointment for me personally.
    I do love the Division Lore and I'm always amazed by how brilliant the writing of the story is considering how restricted their hand is with giving us the lore in between missions with comms and 15 sec videos. The ability to build up fascinating story like this is outstanding.
    BUT the moment we guessed the Recruiter was agent Johnson (which for me was the moment they reintroduced him this season) I feared for the worst.
    I have couple of major issues with this season and manhunt:
    1. I hated the Idea of Johnson being Recruiter at the beginning, but I have to admit they did a brilliant job with giving us bits of backstory specially through Descent as to why he was close to McManus. It made it quit acceptable tbh. Still in my opinion Recruiter should have been and OG Hunter, Which Johnson certainly was not. He just became a Hunter after Div 2 events started, earliest.
    2. Why no one talk to each other about experiences ?! why Mari didn't tell us about Johnson who gave him comms ? Why didn't Manny find out about Johnson sending Jack to Kennly with SHD servers ?! It's just cheap that there are obvious plots who no one connects them together.
    3. They want us to believe the Recruiter, arguably one of the best Hunters, just fucked up this massively in the last minute ? Like why the hell would he leave Birdy alone behind the systems ? Doesn't he know how proficient she is ? How did Natalia even green lighted that, considering the amount of knowledge Birdy has about their operation. Recruiter just leaves her alone to do wtv she wants. Also Recruiter, the top Hunter, has no Hunter back up for this big of a mission. as he said if they get the SHD server to Nat it is over. this is the mission to end it all.
    4. What the hell was the point of Recruiter observing us for 3 seasons ?? to just call us off mission ? that's it ? all that build up for him to be yet another "bad guy" that we kill at the end of the manhunt ? not even a single attempt to actually "recruit" us ? just a generic "I am right you are wrong" monologue at the finale ?
    5. I always hated the fact that we have to kill off important characters like this. It was the same with Keener, Fay Lau and now Recruiter. I hated the fact that they have loads of info but they just die and we are only left with couple of Audio logs after they are dead to expand a bit on their lore. There are so many opportunities and ways we could take this. Like we could have saved the Server in this mission but Recruiter would disarm us just to talk to us without anyone hearing (comms jammed).
    Sorry for the long rant. I know many people liked the Manhunt and the way it went, but for me it was a huge let down.
    I hope the story continues to be better and better, just sad that we missed a fantastic opportunity on one of the greatest mysteries in the game.

      @@RonaldJapenga brother. I agree with you that the humor is out of place and we need to have more serious moments. But to say stretch as far to say "its writers pushing their personal belief" based on female characters dogging on their male leader is pretty milquetoast. Considering this story is about anti fascism and about protecting the people and not the government. If you ask me. Thats a personal belief the writers are pushing. And its something i agree with and hopefully you agree with too.
      If you really want a better argument that doesn't breakdown your point. I'd say the writers need to give the female characters a better personality than the same mean girl ones because it blends in together and it makes them all unlikable and it seems to stem from the fact they cannot write characters. Right now the next president should be the SecDef, since he was next guy in the Presidential Line of Succession. Here is something funny: Johnson justifies himself like a typical boy scout by saying that the hunters' job is to take care of any rogue agents. If this is the case, how come none of these hunters were sent after Keener, Jupiter, Hornet and their cells?
    And BTW, what happens if the hunters make a mess of their own? Who cleans it up? As someone who used to be a police officer before being activated, Brian Johnson has forgotten that keeping in check goes both ways. Just like the cops keep people in check and vice versa, the same goes for the Division and the hunters.

If he had said nothing he could gotten away with the mobile SHD server while the agents were rescuing civillians. @NGN but he could have gone with the plan of rescuing Birdie to get them to bring it. The Black Tusk have a ton of jamming equipment to sell them on bringing the server. He could have sent them anywhere and if he was smart, not have Birdie there. Then he could have kept the agents busy throwing BT grunts at them and scammed and handed off the server to Nat. For the price of a bullet wound he could have sold the whole scam. Tactically and logistically he went with the wrong plan. He messed up his own false flag operation by making himself the target.

  • @DonnieZX10R
    @DonnieZX10R 7 месяцев назад

    What if Vik was right when he mentioned putting something in Mari? Something is disrupting the Mobile SHD Server, and to do that, Nat would need something small, something that couldn't be seen and can be told what to do. Nat doesn't want to destroy the Mobile SHD Server, she wants to use it. She can't risk breaking it. So, perhaps whatever device that showed her a picture of her baby may be jamming it, or something to do with nanotechnology, which was mentioned in the Descent comms regarding support stations.
    Mari has got to be the "asset" Nat refers to, or at least something Mari has & probably doesn't know about.

    I agree on the point that it is higly likely that McManus has by law the right to become the next POTUS. Or at least Johnson and Natalia think of him as the acting one. But that I wrote to your single video about the Recruiter Mission.
    The thing between Johnson and Kelso on the other hand goes deeper in my opinion. I can imagine Johnson was one of the two who evaluated Kelso befre the Division Recruitment. Back then it was stated that she "has problems with authorities". must be quite a thorn for the rulelover Johnson

    The black tusk is hopefully very weak right now. Their attack on the capital reminded me of the LMB, they were trigger happy because they couldn't afford losing soldiers. Likewise, with how they funded the hyenas to weaken everyone else in the capital and even attempted to shut down the SHD network. Our operations against the BT from then on continued to cause them to take loses until they were forced to start recruiting outside factions. If the black tusk were anywhere as strong as they claimed, they were they wouldn't have needed to join with the true sons and in current operations Nat is getting forced to rely on Cal's resources.
    Plus, our servers are in the Midwest, funded by the Government and built for redundancy. Theirs are in Alaska and with only Nat's funding, chances are if we're having it bad outside the cities the Black Tusk are having it worse. Add in that as a Mercenary group their numbers are going to be limited even before the green poison and they can't replace any soldier they lose because unlike any newly formed faction their soldiers are heavily trained and experienced.
    Heck look at their recent operations. In Rain of fire they had to lure the agents away from the White House before they felt safe enough to attack it, In Price of Power they fled the power plant instead of trying to deal with the agents. Broken wings were them desperately trying to build a supply chain before their stores run out by kidnapping people with the skills they need and in Puppeteers they are forced to use a traitor in an attempt to piggyback their AI off the SHD network.
    Sokolov acts in control and arrogant because she knows that if we knew how unstable her position was it wouldn't take much to knock it down.
    Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.

      The last time we really saw how many resources and man power the Black Tusk had was when they sent a full on assault on Liberty Island to neutralize Keener.
      They sent an entire hovercraft, a marauder class quad copter, warhounds, drones, and a razorback and still couldn’t even compete with the tech that man had.

      Well you can say it's part of why the Division is winning. They aren't solely reliant on their tech or other agents. The people are also there to assist in anyway they can. The Recruiter was solely relying on his counter tech and skills. Could it have played out better? Sure, it could've been way better, but from a story perspective it fits

      To be fair, ISAAC doesn't say he's dead. They had to fix that with Lau to confirm so... maybe he's unconscious - but we haven't had near enough hints like what we got with Shaeffer.

    • @davidmcc9141
      @davidmcc9141 8 месяцев назад +5

      If you sympathize with the fact that he was manipulated and led a stray from his cell by McManus, then yes. If you sympathize because you think he was acting on mission? That's a no in my opinion.
      McManus has covered, in my eyes, multiple of the scenarios that define a catastrophic emergency that the division is activated for.
      1)He has tried to acquire nuclear armaments(the Football)
      2) worked with an invasive force (Black Tusk)
      3)taken part in a coup d'etat (had to have a part in the OG presidents death, the events leading to Mendes un-aliving himself, and co-opting Ellis.)
      And the fact that Johnson says that McManus is President? Ellis was third in Succession. McManus is 18th. That is 15 other high officials bodies in holes somewhere.
      Johnson willfully in his grief and hurt looked to an authority to give him direction and in doing so shoved his head in the sand. He willingly became a bag man.

    • @ItsDobbie
      @ItsDobbie 8 месяцев назад +4

      @@davidmcc9141Exactly. I like the theory I heard someone else mention somewhere.
      That, since ISAC is an Analytic Computer, (Intelligence System Analytic Computer) it’s smart enough to acknowledge that McManus has likely taken part in illicit activities in order to garner his position as the “top brass”, therefore that is the reason why our agents are not marked as rogue, because even if we are technically off mission, (and Agent Johnson was right) and the Department of Homeland Security does technically become who we take orders from in the event of the POTUS expiring prematurely, ISAC knows that McManus is only in that position due to illegal means (having to do with assassinating the previous president, etc.)
      Essentially ISAC is able to understand Morals and ethics and adapt alongside us agents, which is something I don’t think ANYONE expected ISAC to be capable of doing, hence why Homeland had the president assassinated, to secure a place of power, but it didn’t work since ISAC is smarter than anticipated.
