A Day On A Malaysian Island During Monsoon Season

- Опубликовано: 9 фев 2025
- We spend a day on the famous Langkawi, a Malaysian island, during monsoon season. Langkawi is located in the Andaman sea near South Thailand and receives the majority of its rainfall during the months of September and October. Unfortunately we timed our trip here right in the middle of the rainy season, but we didn't let that stop us from exploring Langkawi island. We decided to go for a walk and show you what wet season can be like here in Malaysia and what to expect if you're planning to travel here (on one of the worse days when the sun didn't come out)

@@TravelsonToast hello.. i am the guy in the mini mart.. from langkawi island.. how are you...?
If you plan for a long walk, carry a raincoat. Malaysian weather is unpredictable.
You guys are really blessed. You have each other. Both of you are really cool people 😎
We are for that, thank you 🙂
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video n for showing your exploration in Langkawi. U guys were roaming in d rain, soaking wet, poor u guys, better take care not catching a cold.
Be careful when walking by d muddy sidewalk.
If your budget is limited, you will definitely miss many interesting places here, such as going to the cable car or nearby islands and wild animal life.
there is always something for everyone, no matter the budget.
@@LanzFranchess agree
might go next time, we just don't want to waste our money when the weather will be bad
@@TravelsonToast good choice👍👍

I haven’t been there myself but my friend told me they have lots of yummy stuffs there to enjoy. Can’t wait to watch your Malacca’s for vlog and I hope the weather will be better there. Take care and stay safe! Cheers!

@@TravelsonToast Sorry! but just hope for the best. 🙂
Melaka
1. Cheese Naan
2. Kueh Keria
3. Baba Charlie
4. Portuguese Grilled Seafood
5. Asam Pedas
asam pedas is very spicy... pls be careful
thanks!
If you're going to Melaka tomorrow, I guess the must-try food in Melaka is Asam Pedas. I'm not from Melaka but I have some friends who are from Melaka and they're really hyping up the Melaka's Asam Pedas cause it taste authentic and not like the one you taste in a normal restaurant
will definitely try!
Came across your channel ended up binge watching 6 -8 videos now hahaha just subscribed to your channel. Keep the videos coming! Love from Singapore
Awesome! Thank you and welcome to the channel 🙌 we hope to visit Singapore too sometime
Can't wait for the next video!
420 burger is our fav!!! you guys should try it!
and try to taste the famous fish curry at GP Halim (near the airport). Ask them to make a thick curry gravy with full flavour.
You should try as well our childhood snack 'super ring' its a chessy chips and since you like coffee, try the farm fresh latte. Thats my fav too.
Melaka - ikan bakar, nyonya laksa, chicken rice ball, cendol, peranakan food.
Pulau perhentian Terengganu...paradise beach..beutifull
oh no! the restaurant that I suggested start at late evening till midnight. pity you didn’t get to try there! plus it’s such a bad weather to walk around the island during this time. hopefully you visit Johor Bahru soon
Next time maybe!
you guys are walking toward the construction site of Parkroyal Langkawi, that way it all blocked up.
We were in langkawi as well since thursday and the constant rain really obstructed a lot of activities.
Hope u guys come back later, i promise langkawi has a lot to offer when the sun is up
We definitely plan to 🙂👍
after melaka you guys can visit muar.. muar is bandar diraja for johor.. its the best place to visit..
If you go to Malacca, try roti canai sarang burung at Warung Imam No 8&9 Tanjung Keling. It is roti canai with 2 eggs in the middle looks like a bird nest.. that is why they called it sarang burung. They will put some beef if you order special one. The price will surely meet your budge
That farm fresh date milk is Malaysian made healthy good product. A lot of us love it.
there is always something for everyone... just enjoy!
come visit near dungun terengganu, you both will definitely like this place because there are many beautiful beaches and a lot of food here..
things to try at melaka: tapai pulut, asam pedas, masak lemak cili padi, submarine museum, masjid terapung (wear proper cloths), a famosa
Langkawi is going through a re Development process .. 5 years ago .. there wasn’t all these Developments.. it was really beautiful then
Tips to travel in asia.. always bring an umbrella
If you guys are still in Langkawi, you might want to try the dishes at Nasi Dagang Pak Malau. It's to die for! 😋🍽️
Go to Pak Malau to experience eating breakfast near a rice field, nasi dagang .
Malacca ... suggest you try Cendol Kampung Hulu (it is a dessert) by the river ... have fun
It is good and nice to know both of you have great intrest in the local people calture, like to try the typically daily food, drinks and fruit, and eager to learn the lifestyles etc of the countries you visit and you like to experience and simulate how local people lived, but I find it amused 😂 that till now you have not learn the "Asian art of ☂️ Umbrella" on how the locals walks under the ☀️ hot sun and 🌧️ rains. So I hope you will invest in a folderable umbrella and stop complaining about the weather 🤣🤣🤣.
Wow very interesting to see the videos 👌👌
Always raining 😌
Jeez your videos are so addicting
Thanks!
Memang betul. Pergi Langkawi memang sakit mata tengok construction yg terbengkalai. Entah la...
nice video guys.. this is normal for us raining is normal
I went to Langkawi end 2020... after the first lock down... it was really bad... many businesses were closed.... any many have not recovered until now... and many construction projects either delayed or abandoned.
That's a shame, it does seem like a lot has closed, i'm sure it was heavily affected by it all. Hopefully tourism comes back after rainy season and can help progress the island again.
Personally I love the cool monsoon season... there also used to be the Monsoon Cup Yacht Tournament...
There are lot of beaches in Langkawi, ask the locals where they hang out...you can also go hiking, jungle trekking, waterfalls etc.. But monsoon season is coming, I think many already wrote in comments including myself, usually monsoon starting september here at west coast n november at the east coast
we had so much we wanted to do but it rained too much, but we will be coming back!
@@TravelsonToast ok, better come back next year after monsoons season end, check out the tropical islands on the east cost like Pulau Kapas, Perhentian, Redang, Tioman🌴
I'm at Kedah too 😊
Just enjoy ... be it rain (wet), sunny hot day (sweat)... walking around sight seeing and experience the local aspects...that is real time holiday as a tourist you will remember forever.
Unlike staying at expensive hotels, restaurants, using taxis everywhere..it's boring and fake and you will forget eveything.
Also when my friend and I were on a scooter and got caught in the rain we asked for 2 bin bags at a petrol station and made raincoats from them. They worked well but we looked ridiculous!
Hi Travel on Toast , Malacca must try Pak Putra Rest. Just behind Jonker walk .
Best nan , tandoori, butter chicken . Very reasonable priced . Opens 5.30pm and closed Monday .
Nearby is also several Assam Pedas fish. Can choose between various fish types . Cooked in clay pots. I am a Sabe living in Singapore . Love Malacca and the food there . Enjoy and keep exploring .
Thanks for the suggestions, they sound great 🙂
Now is the monsoon season till Feb and please be careful at sea and hilly side due landslide esp when it rains continuously for few days...
Is the weather okay in june ?
Waiting for u guys to go travel to Johor
You can try nyonya cuisine, portugis Melaka style cuisine , asam pedas, coconut shake, fried ice cream, nyonya curry laksa and other
Awe you guys got drenched..do visit Langkawi island again next time, not during a monsoon season obviously😊 btw i love your video!!!🥰
Rain? Welcome to Malaysia.
Yeah, it's monsoon season now. It rains a lot.
The most southern part (Johor) are flooding. The east coast (Kelantan, Terengganu) are expected to receive heavy rain in October - January, and flood is common. The latest news said, northern part (Kedah, Perlis) will be the same. I recommend you heading to Perak and Highlands in Pahang.
You playing with the rain, you can get fever. 😁
Try cendol melaka
Malaysia is not friendly to walking pedestrian due to our weathers, the best is to bring raincoat or umbrella just incase. We prefer to bring our own vehicle / rent / taxi at langkawi.
yeah, many rent motocycle
Very nice food.. i Like.. guys eat like local... Gud job bruhh
In Melaka (Malacca), you can try Chicken Rice Ball, Satay Celup (pretty much like satay hotpot), Nyonya Laksa and some Nyonya Kuihs. Also Cendol with Gula Melaka!
Thanks for these suggestions, will definitely be trying some!
Hi Travel on Toast...if you go to Malacca dont forget to try cendol jam besau opposite the Dutch Square.I strongly recommend you to try cendol durian. You gonna love it
Wow.... beautiful island 💖💝👍
In Melaka, must visit NEWTON HAWKER CENTRE where you can find all malacca foods there. Must visit spot there. Go try their Portuguese grill chicken wings 👍. Really very very nice. Also go visit Portuguese settlement there, many seafood restaurant there. Also go try malacca roadside Chinese popiah. Very very delicious
thanks for the suggestions 🙌
Is this in langkawi? Langkawi season is different than the rest of the country and similar to phuket, and their dry season is only starting around now. Having said that this years weather is just crazy and we are getting so much rain throughout the year.
yeah we remember being in Krabi South Thailand back in February and there was so much rain for the dry season!
Next time come and visit Sabah,Malaysia you'll love the beauty of nature over there
Have u tried hiking at Langkawi, u can get awesome sunset view from the peak of Mt. Matchinchang and sunrise view from Rock Garden. Also at Telaga Tujuh Waterfall, if u go trekking up a bit, u will find what they call blue pool, the water is quite deep but u can see the bottom clearly, suitable for camping also. Another one is the Tama Waterfall, unfortunately there's still no on land trek to go there but i'm sure the locals will find a way. But u still can go there by boat. It's like another realm or dimension over there, so many waterfalls
thanks! Great tips, look forward to returning
Hey guys go to Pangkor island for us and let us know if its any good haha, Enjoying the videos lately. Maybe we'll cross paths were in Asia in a couple months!
Pangkor island is not really worth to visit if youre looking for beautiful and clean beach/island, I would sugest you go to Perhentian/Redang island at Terengganu and you will impress with beautiful beach/island, and also more cheaper and budget friendly
@@pudinichigo91 really you don't recommend for a cheap relaxed island with friendly locals?
Thanks for the suggestions il see if there are any budget places to stay
@@EllisWR I mean if you prefer to enjoy the beautiful beach/island, so Perhentian island it's for you, but if you have something do to at night like to enjoy night life so Pangkor island will be better I think, both island are pretty cheap and relaxed island, maybe Perhentian a bit cheaper, and both island also local friendly, I visited both island before, but if I planning to visit again in future, I definitely will go to Perhentian island because of the beach is so beautiful and the water are very clean, I like do activity like snorkeling there and looking for turtle and reef shark.
Durian in Malaysia totally different from other SEA country especially Thailand...the way they cut for me its weird... like the shop brother told you the right technique just point your knife at the right spot to open it easily...and one more things Thai people eat unripe durian tho 🤣
My favourite durian chips....come to kuching sarawak after this yaaa
if you want to see a great view .. try go to Kundasang , Sabah ,
The fruits name is "nangka"
Go to genting highland guy.. enjoy it there..
Not a good idea. The road uphill is slippery and theyll get stuck indoors as outdoor will be foggy all the time.
You must go Langkawi sky bridge
melacca popular with CHENCALOK but not asam pedas also ikan bakar..asam pedas is every where in Malaysia.
Thanks, will try!
oh man, bring small umbrella or raincoat "they call buncho i think the thick one", you need to keep healthy to travel around and make more nice video.. i really enjoyed all of you guys video 🤗🤗..
You can pretty much find everything at the centre of Melaka. Growing up there was literally nothing there.
Enjoy your travels in Malaysia guys ✌️
Thanks!
i love rainy day.
agree.. more easy in thailand..
"I forgot we didn't eat today...."......🤣🤣🤣
Go to Jonkers street. Go for cendol gula melaka and pineapple tarts
U shud always check with the Malaysian Meteorological Department in their website for daily and upcoming weather update since now is the entrace to Monsoon season in South East Asian.

Ithink u need to taste that Maggi kari behind you 12.11 . 😂
Monsoooooon.
It rains.
And rains.
And rains again.
Always entertaining
🙏 🙏
Tiger is also good at opening the durian skin and eating it
Durian is the best fruit
Come to Petaling Jaya. I can show you local culture here in malaysia.
Nope, some private resorts dont allow outsiders to use their beach even if you went there to eat or have drinks. Case and point, Four Seasons in Langkawi.
Can we expect a pleasant climate in September?
Please go to Portuguese sentiments village in malacca, they open for dinner and they serve beer too❤
Durian is 1 fruits you cant hide. If you have durian right in fount of you and you cant smell it.. its no good. You have pass by durian stall here you can smell it from far away..😂😂😂
Monsoon season now
