I wasn't aware of the August conditions in Spiti, i had planned my Ladakh trip in end of August in 2017 and thought the weather would somewhat be the same here as well. I am starting on 21st August -30 August, full circuit from Chandigarh & now i am scared!! ☹️
Generally it is much the same and improve in august end but due to global warming and change in agriculture up there things are changing every year. Just check the weather updates before leaving
Bro please make an video on COVID Rtpcr test. Where are the check points. Where are the government testing done. How long does it takes for report. Do it for spiti and ladakh region. It will help in planning for people who travel from south.
In mid October for Spiti trip best is to travel from manali side and come back from shimla. Even for that before going to kaza from manali you must check weather conditions and should not sleep ar Chandratal or between Gramphu and Losar anywhere at all
I just finished my spiti trip last day and now leaving Manali. Spiti is another beautiful region of Himalayas and its culture is awesome. But sadly the group i was with in the trip are the most irresponsible ones who never followed the rules.

Paras, in general, by that time the rains subside. I will you should be OK to travel during the time. Just check the weather forecast by the end of the month for the first week of September and you can postpone in case there are any predictions of heavy rains.

Thank you sir for sharing these tips. I planned spiti with a travel group who takes 18-20 random people as a group and manages everything. It's a 5N/6D trip and a very basic itinerary. But the thing is, because of recent landslide and the unexpected climate change effect on rains, I'm very scared for the trip. The travel company says they take care of everything and try have been conducting trips every year etc etc.. The dates are 20-27 August and these are the only days I have time to travel. I just don't know if I should cancel my trip or go with it. They said they will give us a guide and the drivers are local and very professional. Please suggest asap.
Brother I have already said a lot in my video and yes there will always be risks of traveling in mountains especially Kinnaur Valley or Pangi Valley or Garhwal, etc.. where mountains are fragile. No one can tell you with certainity that if it is safe or not, if they are claiming, well I am not surprised it being their bread & butter. I will suggest that you take the call depending on the forecast of the week you plan to travel. In case there is heavy rain forecast, I will recommend that you cancel/potpone the trip with with dry weather you can go with it. Just keep in mind that mountains travel always have these risks of landslides or road blocks, monsoon or rains increases the likelihood of such things happening up there. Hence, these words of caution.

Rains are predicted in lower hills of Himachal and Kashmir but in Spiti more or less it is overcast only. There have been warnings issued as well for travel. So I am expecting hassles of rains in time to come. Severity of it will depend on the intensity of the rains
Like I explained in the video, it will pretty much be pleasant in August. Of course, rains are scattered in August and will depend on the current weather of your trip dates.

If we plan to travel , will travel aporxx first week of September and kids age is 16 years and 13 years plz suggest as only one car ( innova ) will travelling alone to leh
It shall be fine, it is not that cold. Surely night temperatures drop but then you will be in hotel or guest house for sleeping in night. Carry woolens to take care of cold. I have done many trips in September, very manageable.
@get pedal go, yeah buddy just that in day time you usually do sightseeing so those are still manageable temperatures. Night mostly you will be sleeping in quilts unless plan is to camping in wild 😛
Generally August is when it is at peak, just see the weather updates and follow the tips mentioned in this video. I will recommend if the weather reports say heavy rains then avoid or postpone the trip
I have seen that rains are lasting till first week of September for the past couple of years. Hard to predict if this year will be same or not. Better postpone by a week if possible

Not really if the forescast continues to be like this with rains all around. You have buffer days, you want to take risk and chances just check the weather forecast and then make a call.
Bhai agar aap ye keh rahe ho ki Manali to Spiti aur fer wapis Manali same day, to fer main ye kahunga ki nahin kar sakte. Manali Kaza take 8-9 hrs lag jaate hain aur kabhi kabhi jyada hi.

Bhai as per current reports in lower hills it is going to rain quite a lot in Kinnaur and Manali, at least Monday Tuesday is what the MeT department predicts. Manali side is same thing. Spiti has overcast conditions as well though not much rain as it is rain shadow. My advice will be to postpone bhai else you may be going thru monsoon hassles here

Haritha, I have detailed out everything in the video and link to my travel blog in the description of the video. Yes, there will be risks and hassles of traveling int he mountains in these rainy season/monsoon season time. Just make sure you know about the tips mentioned in the video which will help to some extent. Don't take unnecessary risks up there. There is no alert for landslide predictions. Most drivers from Kinnaur and Spiti are well connected and share messages about road blocks with each other.

Can I take my frnds bike to spiti valley? I heard that it’s not allowed to take others bike, I have to rent instead.
You can take it over there in Spiti. It is Ladakh where it is not allowed. Spiti Valley does not have such restrictions.

Paras, in general, by that time the rains subside. I will you should be OK to travel during the time. Just check the weather forecast by the end of the month for the first week of September and you can postpone in case there are any predictions of heavy rains.

If it is not heavy rains, you shall be OK mostly to go. Just check for warning of heavy rains/snow.

Thank you sir for sharing these tips. I planned spiti with a travel group who takes 18-20 random people as a group and manages everything. It's a 5N/6D trip and a very basic itinerary. But the thing is, because of recent landslide and the unexpected climate change effect on rains, I'm very scared for the trip. The travel company says they take care of everything and try have been conducting trips every year etc etc.. The dates are 20-27 August and these are the only days I have time to travel. I just don't know if I should cancel my trip or go with it. They said they will give us a guide and the drivers are local and very professional. Please suggest asap.
Brother I have already said a lot in my video and yes there will always be risks of traveling in mountains especially Kinnaur Valley or Pangi Valley or Garhwal, etc.. where mountains are fragile. No one can tell you with certainity that if it is safe or not, if they are claiming, well I am not surprised it being their bread & butter. I will suggest that you take the call depending on the forecast of the week you plan to travel. In case there is heavy rain forecast, I will recommend that you cancel/potpone the trip with with dry weather you can go with it. Just keep in mind that mountains travel always have these risks of landslides or road blocks, monsoon or rains increases the likelihood of such things happening up there. Hence, these words of caution.

Rains are predicted in lower hills of Himachal and Kashmir but in Spiti more or less it is overcast only. There have been warnings issued as well for travel. So I am expecting hassles of rains in time to come. Severity of it will depend on the intensity of the rains

Like I explained in the video, it will pretty much be pleasant in August. Of course, rains are scattered in August and will depend on the current weather of your trip dates.

After September first week, pretty much all through first week of October it is good to travel to Ladakh

It shall be fine, it is not that cold. Surely night temperatures drop but then you will be in hotel or guest house for sleeping in night. Carry woolens to take care of cold. I have done many trips in September, very manageable.
@get pedal go, yeah buddy just that in day time you usually do sightseeing so those are still manageable temperatures. Night mostly you will be sleeping in quilts unless plan is to camping in wild 😛

Generally August is when it is at peak, just see the weather updates and follow the tips mentioned in this video. I will recommend if the weather reports say heavy rains then avoid or postpone the trip

I have seen that rains are lasting till first week of September for the past couple of years. Hard to predict if this year will be same or not. Better postpone by a week if possible

Bhai as per current reports in lower hills it is going to rain quite a lot in Kinnaur and Manali, at least Monday Tuesday is what the MeT department predicts. Manali side is same thing. Spiti has overcast conditions as well though not much rain as it is rain shadow. My advice will be to postpone bhai else you may be going thru monsoon hassles here

Himanshu, just keep an eye on weather updates when you travel. Usually by end of August the rain fades away and you should mostly be OK.

Haritha, I have detailed out everything in the video and link to my travel blog in the description of the video. Yes, there will be risks and hassles of traveling int he mountains in these rainy season/monsoon season time. Just make sure you know about the tips mentioned in the video which will help to some extent. Don't take unnecessary risks up there. There is no alert for landslide predictions. Most drivers from Kinnaur and Spiti are well connected and share messages about road blocks with each other.
