Hi Dheeraj, love your videos. Very informative....have a question. What kind of camera would be good. Will a gopro a good one for the drive? Appreciate your expert advice.
Dear Dheeraj Bhai, very helpful videos and well explained.I came to know about spiti valley through your videos 2 year ago. Finally i have planned to go with my family in September 2nd week. Will it be safe to travel during this time. Which way to start from Manali or Shimla. Weather forecast shows rain of about 1.8mm to 9.8mm till 14 September in Himanchal. Can i cover rohtang pass during this time.
Generally September is a very good or in fact best of the times to visit Spiti Valley on various parameters.. rains shall not be an issue in September second week, again in general, as weather cannot be predicted these days… problem I see these days is the same Nigulsari landslide point when traveling from shimla side.. i heard it broke down again and it is like a 365x24 landslide point.. you need to be aware of current status of that road to travel.. so going via Manali could be an option but then chances of AMS hitting folks will be there.. keep both plans handy one whole circuit and other only Manali route and take a call 1-2 days before your travel dates.. sorry am traveling with limited network so replies are slow
Thankyou sir once again for your timely input.i have seen almost all your spiti videos.I will message you 2 days before i will leave regarding the road update. Is there any official website for updates on road condition in Himanchal Pradesh?
The more I listen to your tips and suggestions, I am inclined to push my spiti travel to first week of September. Especially after viewing yesterday's incident, it definitely makes more sense. Thanks for sharing such beautiful insights Dheeraj ji!
I will 100% go with that buddy, plz do so! If you can push to second week of September, that will be much better as by that time I believe most river water also gets cleaned up and they change the colors from muddy to aqua green.
@@discoverwithdheeraj I'll definitely try that. But it's dependent on leave approvals, as usual :-( If you could please also respond to my queries on E-aagman form submission, it will really help. I am not sure about all three drop down list values, which needs to be selected. That question is posted on your other video though. Mainly about selecting Chandratal or Losar check post value for visiting Chandratal and overnight stay around, on the way to Manali.
Sorry I lost track of it. Yes this permit is MUST-HAVE from both Manali and Shimla sides. 1. "Travelling From state" Enter your "base state - Maharashtra" 2. "Travelling to place" Enter "Chandertal" check post 3. "District from" Enter "Lahaul Spiti"

Can you tell me up to which dates apple season lasts in September???And is the weather bearable in September because I want to know that is it safe for old people to visit spiti lahaul in September...Please reply
Mamta ji, weather is good with cool nights and mornings. So, light woolens and one heavy jacket you must carry. September is mostly apple season up there in Kinnaur and Spiti.
Can someone please suggest some good driver/ guide for Spiti Valley tour who can travel with us and has local knowledge where to stay , eat , what to see everything ???
Thanks for the detailed information Dheeraj. We are travelling to spiti Valley in the Second week of September. Can you make a video on the places to visit while in Spiti Valley

Hello Sir, I am ur one of the biggest fan and I am following your blog since last 8 years. This year I am going to plan Spiti valley. Kindly helps me to fix my itinerary based on my following points. 1) Total trip days 14-15 days 2) Want to explore Tirthan valley in this trip 3) Want to explore Bir paragliding also 4) Pls mentioned clearly where to n8 stay, pls remember I have 8 yrs old travel enthusiast Son.
Well, thank you so very much.. I will suggest you follow the video How to plan a road trip to Spiti Valley from Shimla in 10 days? Helo Dheeraj Bhai ! Demul, Gette, Tashigang villages ja sakte hain kya, I mean accessibility ? Are they worth visiting ? Do they fall under local sightseeing ?
Yes bhai aap in sab villages mein season time par jaa sakte ho.. worth or not is all depending upon if you are cramming them up in hectic plan or not.. if you have time on hand then you can add but if you dont then you may skip too
Sir i have RE meteor and i am planning to complete spiti circuit in coming june I want a suggestion from you should i go with tail bag or saddle bags Pros and cons
I am not a biker myself, drive more but my brother in law is well experienced and this is what he says “Saddle bags are not as good as tail bag on trails and offroads because tail bags can be tightened as much as you want but if you buy a saddle bag it may jump on most of the bumps and make sound which can distract you while riding. 2) in case of crash your bag can get damage and items in it can get crushed if bike get disbalan e on any side. 3. Tail bags from rynoxs are easy on pocket and rugged as well. Storm proof tail bags are good from rynox”
Yes that road will be open.. just make sure to check weather before traveling as intermittent snowfall may close the road for a day or two.. so always best to check weather before traveling on this route
Dear Dheeraj bhai, in the 2nd week of October how will be the weather in Manali & Spiti valley ????? How cold will it be ???? What could be the temperature range over that time ?????
Bhai second week of October, it is decent cold with day temperatures sometimes in single digit like from 5-15 deg C and night temperatures going below 0 degrees especially in high villages of Spiti Valley.
Chandratal route would be open but MAKE sure that you see weather before traveling as snowfall can close the route and also DO NOT sleep overnight at Chandratal or between Manali Kaza road that time of the october.
Hlw . Family le kay may ka 3rd week may spiti valley jana chatahu. Simla say starting karna , or Manali may ending . Total 8-9 days . Kai say tour kare , thora help kardo tour plan . Hum log 2+2 . Kids age 13 & 6
Rahul bhai plz check Q6. How to plan a road trip to Spiti Valley from Shimla in 10 days? [Best Spiti Valley Itinerary] ruclips.net/video/g3dzmou9o3Y/видео.html
Most likely yes Amol, you will find Kunzum Pass road open by that time. Manali to Kaza may not be open but upto Kunzum Pass should get open from Kaza side.
Even though manali route is shorter and save lot of time for a spiti circuit why most people still go via shimla, narkanda route? Am travelling in june and was confused which route to take.
Dear Dheeraj Bhai.. We like to visit Simla kalpa and kaza on 20th September24 and back end of 1st week of October. Pl. intimate your views whether that time is suitable for us.
November is most dry-cold in Spiti Valley and cold as well. If you are OK with cold conditions, please go prepared. Scene wise it will be clear mostly but winter like condiitons. Please check my Winter Spiti video: ruclips.net/video/dkCtosVym1Q/видео.html
You can mostly do a day visit but it becomes risky due to sudden snowfall that can happen. You should not be staying overnight at Chandratal lake and also camps anyways would be wrapped up too. So check the weather when leaving Manali or Kaza and do Chandratal on the way to these places on sunny days. Don’t go in overcast conditions.

Hello Dheeraj, Well explained. Is there any way to rent taxi or any public transportation which we can take for trip to kaza in the month of March end. If yes can you please share contact of the same.
Thanks Vikesh, well, you can rent a taxi surely buses will depend if black ice is gone by that and then only buses run when it is fully safe.. for taxis check Hire or Rent taxi for Spiti Valley Trip? [Taxi Cost, Local Drivers, Shared Taxis] | Dheeraj Sharma ruclips.net/video/IvHqoNU2JCQ/видео.html
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thanks Dheeraj, I watched the video and contacted some of the drivers but since we are just 2 people for the car the rent is little bit high for our budget. Do you recommend to take a guided 7 day tour with a group and if so any choice of company as I see lot of ads on Instagram
You can also call/whatsapp Vishesh on 09650675505 or Rutika on 09619686818. They are from @IncredibleSpiti (Instagram) and may have some group tours running. You can refer my name to them, Vishesh knows me/DevilOnWheels well.
If we rent a bike from shimla.. Is there any drop off point in manali... Or how to rent a bike to complete the circuit... I am planning to visit next month the
Well you can drop in Manali but they will charge you good amount for its pick up. So best will be to rent a bike in Chandigarh or do a Manali to Shimla ride as well for dropping the bikes
Bhai, I plan to visit Spiti - Kaza (with friends) in May. I'll be flying from Mumbai to Delhi on a Friday and will take a flight to Shimla early morning on Saturday . I hope to reach Shimla airport by 7.30 am. My question - Considering we are starting early, can we use that day (Saturday) for travelling further to Sangla? (instead of taking a halt at Narkanda). As per internet, Sangla seems to be at similar altitude (2600 m). However, is this journey practical? The next day (Sunday) we plan to reach Kalpa and spend the night there. Then either Tabo or Dhankar on Monday and Kaza on Tuesday & Wednesday (we have to be back in Shimla by Saturday night). Is this enough for acclimatization? Or should we add a day before reaching Tabo/ Dhankar ? I am open to spending an extra night at Kalpa (and take a day trip to Chitkul) if that helps in acclimatizing before reaching Dhankar. For me Kalpa seems ideal as it is @~2950 m - not too bad, but bad enough to help our group get used to altitude. Note - We take the flight out of Shimla the following Sunday, so we have a total of 8 nights in hand. Thanks in advance for your help!
Sandeep bhai, it is OK to travel to Sangla from Shimla but after reaching take rest and keep yourself hydrated. Next day visit Chitkul and go back to Kalpa by late noon and stay overnight. Then travel to Tabo and stay overnight there. Don’t go further from Tabo on Day 3. All this time minimal exertion and well hydration. This will setup the rest of the trip for you well enough

Hi Dheeraj . I am planning a Workcation in spiti valley in second half of September. What all things I should take care of ? I am mainly concerned about the network connectivity. Will hotels have wifi sevices Also since i will be staying for 2 weeks, is there any budget stays available there? Please provide your valuable suggestions
Reliance Jio has good speed and yes many decent hotels have WiFi there. However people have successfully done such workation trips but there will always be certain risk associated with such high mountains of something not working some day
I have a dedicated video on this topic but in Spiti it shall be fine. Kunzum Pass is one place that I think where you should avoid using it if at all.. rest mostly when traveling on roads make sure you shut it down. All this is true in case the laptop has a HDD and in case you have an SSD then no problem
Well, like I said in my video on Manali Kaza Road in October (Ep 11) is risky to travel especially after middle of October. There are chances of getting stuck due to sudden snowfall more and more after middle of October. However, in the first two weeks of October, even though snowfall can happen and you can get stuck, but probability is less if I compare with second half of October. Hence, if you are traveling in first two weeks on Manali - Kaza road then don’t plan to stay overnight in between Manali and Kaza, which means avoid overnight stay at Chandratal Lake. Go prepared with woolens because it will be cold up there especially mornings and evenings/nights. Carry food and water for at least couple of days. Finally, always check weather before leaving Manali or Kaza for the other side a day before your travel and avoid traveling in case weather predictions are bad.
Julley dheeraj ji….We are planning to go Spiti on coming May , so please share taxi contact details and cost details also. We are planning for 10 days trip.
Julley, here is the link of Spiti-Kinnaur taxi drivers: devilonwheels.com/list-of-taxi-drivers-for-spiti-valley-kinnaur-valley/ Generally they charge these days around 4500-5000 per day depending on the car you plan to hire.
Well, I think you will be flying or taking train to Chandigarh. So you can do either, instead of changing the train from Chandigarh to Shimla or traveling by other means, you can ask for a pickup by these local drivers from Chandigarh itself and start the journey.
@@discoverwithdheeraj We will be taking Flight from Kerala to Delhi. Then we have 2 options- either to Chandigarh from Delhi or to Shimla from Delhi. If we start journey from shimla, can we save time and reduce cost?
@casruthygs5087 if you are traveling from Delhi then travel all the way to Shimla and start the journey from there.. you can even get Delhi Shimla Volvos. You can skip Chandigarh in that case altogether

Best will be to follow the plan here in public transport: ruclips.net/video/sAWVo5vfYNo/видео.html Here are some inputs: 1. It will be costly but you can get it. Not sure but shoyld be around 15000-20000 2. Again costly, if you continue from there in same cab 3. Most likely not in public taxi but may be in personal cab.
Wow, month by month conditions nicely explained, so that each one can decide the pros and cons and make an informed decision before traveling.. Awesome

Generally September is a very good or in fact best of the times to visit Spiti Valley on various parameters.. rains shall not be an issue in September second week, again in general, as weather cannot be predicted these days… problem
I see these days is the same Nigulsari landslide point when traveling from shimla side.. i heard it broke down again and it is like a 365x24 landslide point.. you need to be aware of current status of that road to travel.. so going via Manali could be an option but then chances of AMS hitting folks will be there.. keep both plans handy one whole circuit and other only Manali route and take a call 1-2 days before your travel dates.. sorry am traveling with limited network so replies are slow
Thankyou sir once again for your timely input.i have seen almost all your spiti videos.I will message you 2 days before i will leave regarding the road update. Is there any official website for updates on road condition in Himanchal Pradesh?
Not really bhai.. best to call some hotels of the local region for best on ground updates
Ok . I will call some local hotels and homestays for updates on climate and roads conditions .Thanks for the sugestion.
Helo Dheeraj Bhai !

Are they worth visiting ? Do they fall under local sightseeing ?
Yes bhai aap in sab villages mein season time par jaa sakte ho.. worth or not is all depending upon if you are cramming them up in hectic plan or not.. if you have time on hand then you can add but if you dont then you may skip too
Thank you from Chennai.

Sir i have RE meteor and i am planning to complete spiti circuit in coming june
I want a suggestion from you should i go with tail bag or saddle bags
Pros and cons
I am not a biker myself, drive more but my brother in law is well experienced and this is what he says “Saddle bags are not as good as tail bag on trails and offroads because tail bags can be tightened as much as you want but if you buy a saddle bag it may jump on most of the bumps and make sound which can distract you while riding.
2) in case of crash your bag can get damage and items in it can get crushed if bike get disbalan e on any side.
3. Tail bags from rynoxs are easy on pocket and rugged as well. Storm proof tail bags are good from rynox”
Great 👍
Thanks 🙏
Thanks...
Got inspired to travel during these time. 30sep to 7 oct. Does manali kaza road remain open around 6th oct?
Yes that road will be open.. just make sure to check weather before traveling as intermittent snowfall may close the road for a day or two.. so always best to check weather before traveling on this route
Dear Dheeraj bhai, in the 2nd week of October how will be the weather in Manali & Spiti valley ????? How cold will it be ???? What could be the temperature range over that time ?????
Bhai second week of October, it is decent cold with day temperatures sometimes in single digit like from 5-15 deg C and night temperatures going below 0 degrees especially in high villages of Spiti Valley.
@@discoverwithdheeraj what can be the temperature of kaza at night ????
Around subzero to 5 degress
I m going on a group tour of Spiti during September 2022 including Chandratal
Whether heavy woollens required?
Not really, carry at least one light jacket.
We r planning October 6-15 in this year. Is there any possibilities of opening chandrataal in this time for this year???
Chandratal route would be open but MAKE sure that you see weather before traveling as snowfall can close the route and also DO NOT sleep overnight at Chandratal or between Manali Kaza road that time of the october.

Before 15 October, it shall be OK
Can we go till kunzum pass in may 1st week from kaza and then back to kaza ?
Most likely yes Amol, you will find Kunzum Pass road open by that time. Manali to Kaza may not be open but upto Kunzum Pass should get open from Kaza side.
Even though manali route is shorter and save lot of time for a spiti circuit why most people still go via shimla, narkanda route? Am travelling in june and was confused which route to take.

Hello Sir visiting spiti before November 15th is safe? And can I see the best views in this time ?
November is most dry-cold in Spiti Valley and cold as well. If you are OK with cold conditions, please go prepared. Scene wise it will be clear mostly but winter like condiitons. Please check my Winter Spiti video: ruclips.net/video/dkCtosVym1Q/видео.html
Can i go to chandertal lake in October
You can mostly do a day visit but it becomes risky due to sudden snowfall that can happen. You should not be staying overnight at Chandratal lake and also camps anyways would be wrapped up too. So check the weather when leaving Manali or Kaza and do Chandratal on the way to these places on sunny days. Don’t go in overcast conditions.

Also since i will be staying for 2 weeks, is there any budget stays available there? Please provide your valuable suggestions
Reliance Jio has good speed and yes many decent hotels have WiFi there. However people have successfully done such workation trips but there will always be certain risk associated with such high mountains of something not working some day
@@discoverwithdheeraj thanks a lot! Any issues with Electronic gadgets mainly laptop due to high altitude?
@@discoverwithdheeraj also do you have some list of budget homestays/hotels there?
I have a dedicated video on this topic but in Spiti it shall be fine. Kunzum Pass is one place that I think where you should avoid using it if at all.. rest mostly when traveling on roads make sure you shut it down. All this is true in case the laptop has a HDD and in case you have an SSD then no problem
We are planning from 6th to 12 Oct ..is it a good time ?

Generally they charge these days around 4500-5000 per day depending on the car you plan to hire.
Julley ….we will be coming from Kerala hence which will be the best starting point to start out journey - Chandigarh or Shimla ?
Well, I think you will be flying or taking train to Chandigarh. So you can do either, instead of changing the train from Chandigarh to Shimla or traveling by other means, you can ask for a pickup by these local drivers from Chandigarh itself and start the journey.
@@discoverwithdheeraj We will be taking Flight from Kerala to Delhi. Then we have 2 options- either to Chandigarh from Delhi or to Shimla from Delhi. If we start journey from shimla, can we save time and reduce cost?

C) After watching Sunset from Mud, Can I comeback to Kaza ?
Day 0 : Bangalore - Delhi By Flight
Overnight HPRTC Bus to Sangla ( Long Journey with Ordinary Bus )
Day 1: Reach Sangla and overnight stay
Day 2: Sangla - Chitkul , overnight stay ( Bus/Shared Cab)
Day 3: Chitkul - Peo - Kalpa, overnight stay ( Bus/Shared Cab)
Day 4: Kalpa - Nako - Gue - Tabo, overnight stay Reserved Cab
Day 5: Tabo - Dhankar - Lallung - Mud Reserved Cab
Day 6: Mud→ Kaza By Bus
Kaza→Key→Kibber→ Chicham→ Tashigong : Self Drive two Wheler
Day 7 : Kaza → Hikkim→Langza→ Komic→ Kaza Self Drive two Wheler
Day 8 : Kaza → Kullu, Overnight @Kullu Bus
Day 9 : Kullu → Delhi Bus
Day 10: Fly from Delhi

Here are some inputs:
1. It will be costly but you can get it. Not sure but shoyld be around 15000-20000
2. Again costly, if you continue from there in same cab
3. Most likely not in public taxi but may be in personal cab.

I am planning to go spiti in april 7/8 th apox. Can I experience snow as well as good weather there? Chandratal will be accessible or not? Please help
Chandratal road, highly likely will be closed anyways. You can travel to Spiti from Shimla side and come back from same side. Watch these videos: ruclips.net/video/e6-AXkmEnCc/видео.html&lc=UgzsxAaXNyGNJPe19cp4AaABAg

Hi Dheeraj
I plan to travel to Spiti in July. Your information help me very much. May I ask you some more question.
You recommend taxi driver in Spiti, Tsering at and Chhewang Dorjey. Can they speak English? Do they have E mail or others online contact? How much passengers with luggage are suitable for their car?
thank you so much.
Yes, Tsering Bhai understands and speaks English. For the Car, best will be not to fit more than 5 passengers for comfortable ride. Luggage you can ask them to put on carrier above the car. You can Whatsapp Tsering bhai on the number provided.
Thank you
Xylo and Sumo spacio have a same capacity?
