In the US it would be every man under 40. So few men dress like a proper gentleman any longer. Now it's faded jeans with a name brand printed on a t-shirt is considered dressed up at fine restaurants and such. 🙄

First class content, Jeremy. You have a very natural presentation style and I just love the fittings and layout of your shop. Three additional tips I have learnt about caring for a suit or jacket: 1. Don't stuff the pockets of a jacket with bulky or heavy items; 2. If using a pocket square, remove it before putting the suit away to stop it from misshaping the breast pocket; 3. Always remove your jacket and hang it up when driving or sitting in a car. A seatbelt will ruin the shape of a jacket (and cause friction wear). Most cars have a hook above the rear window to take a jacket or coat hanger.

@Zazzri. You may already know this. A good rule regarding business suits is not to wear the same suit day after day. Invest in at least three suits and wear them in rotation. And - if you can, buy two pairs of trousers with each suit. The trousers take all the wear and tear. Stay safe and well

Great video, thanks! As for something I would like to see in other videos it could be some classic style tips, how to wear some classic items, some little secrets on how to properly do things, not know to public. Talking about ironing pants with trouser press iron was a brilliant thing - I never knew about this, even while watching a lot of videos and reading really a lot about men style. Already ordered corby for trousers and for ties for myself. Other topics that can be helpful is how to make socks not to come down on you leg, how to fold a handkerchief, and other little things like that

@rhodeswood5513. Thank you for your expert advice regarding the care of suits in this video. At 4:28 you showed the (Corby) trouser press. I have always been a bit wary of these devices and here’s why. Some trousers are lined at the front of the leg down to the knee. I have always been concerned that the trouser press would give an unwanted horizontal “line” above the knee! So I have always pressed my trousers by hand, where I can pull any linings back from the front of the leg, press the crease and then let the lining fall back into place. Thank you again for your work on all of your YT videos. Subbed! You and yours stay safe and well.

I like to hang suit trousers and smart trousers with the legs draped over the hanger bar in opposing directions, one over the other, so where the inseams meet is directly below the bar. It’s a little fiddly to achieve, and maybe best done on a flat surface such as a bed, but once they are on the hanger they never slip off.

I have enjoyed your videos. For those of us in warmer climes who may wear a linen suit, or a cotton seersucker, any comments or suggestions?
And, out of curiosity, I'd like to hear your opinion about wearing brown shoes and leather accesories with blue suits. I don't know who started that trend, but sometimes I see this and it drives me crazy. As a lad, I was taught that black was the appropriate colour for leather with a blue suit. There were rules for this when I was young.
There is a conductor of an orchestra near me who wore oxblood shoes with tails! I cannot tell you much of anything about the concert because all I could do was look at his shoes.
Are all of those rules out of the window?

@vfranklindeese2. I am with you (and Mr. Rhodes Wood) on the brown/tan shoes with a blue lounge suit fad. Bring me the Philistine who decided that this combination was/is fashionable! Have you heard the old saying “Don’t wear brown in town”! I believe that the idea was that gentlemen didn’t wear their “country” garments ( brown tweeds etc.) whilst on business in their nearest metropolis.
I am also a strong supporter of “quiet socks” (no bright colours, stripes or hooped designs) when wearing a lounge or dress suit. Stay safe and well.

Thanks for explaining how to use a trouser press. I sometimes see them in hotels but never knew what to do and didn't want to risk tramlines.
My main problem with suits is that they get a particular musty kind of a smell after a year or so and dry cleaning does not help. Steaming and or hanging outside only makes a slight improvement. In desperation I've started hand washing them in cool water and that works. Any comments?

What are your thoughts of hanging trousers straight down? Rather than fold over my trousers, I would use a hanger with clips and would clip the bottoms of the legs and let the trousers hang down in my wardrobe. It obviates the crease fold in knees and straightens out creases due to gravity although I do not know if undue stress is being put on the trousers.

What is the best way to care for a suit if you live in a hot, tropical climate (e.g. Thailand)? If you've worn it a bit, so it is not completely fresh, but not yet at the point at which it needs to be dry-cleaned, is it OK to press it? Or should you only press a suit when it is essentially clean? I just wonder if pressing the suit under those circumstances is sealing bad things into the fabric. Thanks!

That’s a very good question. I’ve never lived in a hot country, so probably not best qualified to answer.
