Destiny have you considered why so many people have rejected the establishment narratives? We have noticed that the establishment has been wrong and/or lying over and over again. It would be foolish for us to ignore this fact. Libby Emmons made the point very well, as did Maajid Nawaz. Both of them gave lists of areas in which the public has been systematically misled in recent years. We have come to expect deception to be the norm because that is what we have been conditioned to expect.

Talking about self-reporting: a crowd that cheers on every statement against "censorship" trying to silence every other opinion every single time was pretty self-reporting aswell. This panel was a joke. As Destiny said: nobody actually listens to anything being said. Panelists were contradicting themself again and again and neither the crowd or the moderator reacts whatsoever. It was just a big circlejerk.

This was not a good showing for Destiny and I’ll tell you exactly why. The opening clip of the video shows the crowd booing him. It’s not because he’s speaking truth or anything like that, it’s because he said ,”People like Joe Rogan taking horse paste.” Destiny himself made a video dumping on Vaush because Vaush agreed with calling it horse dewormer/paste, yet Destiny didn’t hesitate to tell that SILLY and easily disprovable lie and smear. In that moment, he was guilty of the very thing the panel was about and he lost all credibility. And the worse part is, is he chose a particular example that is the most known form of disinformation. If you asked anyone to point out disinformation, almost everyone would point to the joe Rogan horse paste debacle.

It's a tough thing. I think very few people are free speech absolutists. The question on where free speech should have limitations to avoid harm is one that is constantly going on. I think there is a significant vocal base in the US that literally wants to send us back to a monarchy headed by someone who aligns with their political ideals and tries to defend the idea as democracy. They don't understand how a democratic republic actually works and spend all their time worried about the fed and try to treat the US as if it's a single country the same way France or Italy are.
My old workplace literally had propaganda in the break room talking about how we needed to dissolve the constitution, but somehow still do all these insanely costly social justice programs through a government that would no longer exist. His establishment/anti-establishment distinctions hits the nail right on the head, and if this panel showed us anything, it's that too many people are uncritically anti-establishment and to a degree that's literally damaging to *all* our institutions. If this kind of thinking continues to simmer, one day it will certainly boil over.

The phrasing makes more sense when you put it the way you do but as you said, I nor anyone else will read it that way. I’m still not sure that’s exactly what he meant. I think he was nervous and said something dumb as a reaction to the crowd, who reacted even worst after he said it.

    • @mrmr2488

@@fifab82 Look, what you are pointing out here isn't anything that can be fixed. We are humans. Humans say and do stupid things. Some humans have big platforms. But as a human, you must decide what is best for yourself. Some people aren't capable of this and will just listen to people like Joe, CNN, Fox, Destiny, etc.. But that doesn't mean people like Joe or Destiny are responsible for how people interpret their words and what they should do with them. While there are people that went and got horse paste, there is a HUGE MAJORITY more that did not do this. What you are talking about is just a condemnation of what it is to be human. Our ancestors (creators of society and civilization) figured out a long time ago, that you don't hold others responsible for your actions.
I don't think Joe gave this wonderful recommendation of ivermectin. He has hours of content to go through and you can watch his original video where he talked about throwing the kitchen sink at it and at no point in that short video, did he say ivermectin cured him. Once again, before Joe even mentioned ivermectin, it was hugely popular on the internet. The media tried to attribute this to Joe Rogan and it worked. But, let's assume Joe did give this wonderful endorsement of ivermectin, he still isn't responsible for what others do. Even if he says ,"Yea, ivermectin is great, it helped me", doesn't mean he is responsible for others going out and getting it. Before I'm being accused of being naïve, I understand that you can build a strong case as to why he can and should be held responsible for it but this should simply be ignored. Free speech is a double edged sword. It leads to things like this BUT idiots going out and buying horse paste is a cost we should all be willing to pay. Because the moment we start holding everyone responsible for every word they say and the actions people take because of them, is when we can no longer say anything.
This is why this recent arc of Destiny's about holding people responsible about how there words COULD be interpreted, is so stupid and childish. It's a fundamental misunderstanding of humans and our societies we've built.

People like him who refuse to even consider certain possibilities because of the stigma involved are not logical if they are ignoring not only where the evidence is taking them but the fact elites are literally telling us what they are doing. The best take away from the panel was his critique of the anti establishment attitude that people have in these discussions. I disagree. I think that his take on "anti-establishment" was his worst take. the only reason he is pro establishment is purely out of cosmic RNG that the establishment is aligned for the most part with his vision of the world up to and including the FBI directly trying to tamper with the 2016 election and the almost successful implementation of a ministry of truth. he is a privileged boy who lives in a world where every opinion he has is fully protected since it is the same opinion held by every institution in the country. if he was on the other end of that he would be precisely as "anti-establishment" as the people he is criticizing. there is no big brain argument here.
I mean just look at our own history. the free speech faction of the 60s was the liberals and that is because the culture was against them and now that the culture is fully in their hands they no longer have a functional purpose free speech is now in the way of them achieving even greater power so that is why they want to get rid of it. and before you mention it yes if the right was getting all their ways in every aspect of the culture they would probably stop caring about free speech too with a small minority who still support it kind of how you see today only a small minority of the left agree with free speech too. it is quite simple. it is called human nature.

have you ever seen how leftists behave when a conservative speaks? they don't just boo the scream at the top of their lungs and chant to prevent the talk from happening at all. there was one guy who had a talk at i think it was middleberry university. not sure if that is how you spell it but that is how I hear it when i hear people talk about it. forget the speakers name but there was a violent opposition to this speaker and someone was seriously injured and hospitalized from it.
this is no where close to that level of vitriol.
alot of people seem to have this misperception that "civil disagreement" is based on a full room noding and clapping to everything no matter what everyone says. no civil disagreement is precisely this. it becomes uncivil when it descends into fears of losing your job or school aspirations because of privately held beliefs or state sanctioned harrasment or fines or imprisonment and the ultimate punishment death.
so no. a very light booing is not remotely close to being bad. the left does significantly worse to those they disagree with. they hunt them down and try to end them. even if the thing is not said in the same room. MSNBC for example is constantly trying to push the idea that a new law needs to be put into place to permanently remove people like Ben Shapiro from having the ability to talk in public. they are not "booing" ben while in the same room they are trying to reach "across state lines" to attempt to permanently shut him down.

It’s something both sides of the political spectrum do whether you call it “Fake News” or “Misinformation”. The thing I hate the most is when people try to distance this problem from the past. It was definitely way worse the farther back you go in history. The difference is the narrative was cleaner cause people got away with it a lot easier. Now everyone is able to call you out on your shit cause interaction is easier then ever and information spreads fast. The problem isn’t the information but the fact that people don’t know how to interact with opposing views.
