Incredible find mate ! I was very sceptical on first inspection but with the evidence you’ve compiled I’d say it’s undoubtably the car ! I would keep those cut wings as wall hangers and replace them Can’t wait to see what you do with it
Great find mate. The old war horse has to go back to her original triplex livery. Leave all the original dents n dings in the rear as she'll wear her war wounds with pride. subbedf to see the progress on the old girl.
Steven -J-Humphrey Had a Capri Mk 2, 2L Lazer Dad fixed up a few cars together. Including putting blue fur all over the cockpit. I did one side, the passenger side and obviously he did the drivers side, and hand paint with a new-fangle pad system; a Mk 2 Cortina 4 door 1600. We turned into a 2Litre too. Would have either in a second.. Greg-Gilbert in sw uk.
She originally ran a Ford 3L Essex V6 that was built by Racing Services and would have run a a 4 speed Ford gearbox slightly updated internals and a standard Capri Atlas rear axle with slightly modified mounting points and updated diff and LSD 😊
Hang on stop stop at 23min you say that the chassie mounts need to changed... when did it go compression struts early on for racing, or is it a very resent thing. As a very low car compression struts might be an advantage.....
The chassis mounts have been modified for an extra control arm and it didn’t have that when it was built so it’s going back to standard which is how it raced 😊
@@frictionstreaker It had a new wing in 1978 when Gerry crashed it and when they rebuilt it they re painted it into that Triplex livery to continue the 78 season with the sponsorship deal
@257r_r Eddie was an Engine guy. He did work on the Cosworth YB at Mountune, Cosworth F1, Designed / built Engines for Knight Racing Services in Daventry.
You could restore it to a Touring Car but it would not be much good. So much missing that needs to be replaced. OR you could race it as last raced a LOT easier. And far cheaper even with the expensive engine
She deserves to be what she originally was when she was built and that’s what we will do. It’s more than easily achievable at 25/7 R&R. Stay tuned and watch the progress 😊
Racing history like this needs preserving. Great job, great story

You have your work ahead of you, but a great project.
Indeed she’s in need of metal surgery but she’s not rotten at all which is fantastic
Can’t wait to see her back in action!! Cheers 🥂

Thank you and indeed I’m one for preserving the history in racing rather than replacing parts 😊
Great video mate, really enjoyed that.

It would be nice to know what motor, gear box and diff was in it when it was originally raced

Will it have the v6 engine when it’s done or back to a four cylinder
V6 3L as that’s how it was built and race from factory

if it had a new wing on the near side front, how can it have the original paint on it?

Do You know Eddie Griffiths ?
He worked for Broadspeed aswell.
I don’t unfortunately, John probably would remember him, what did Eddie do at Broadspeed ?
