That three-part chorus was a strange, but genius move. I agree that the length was fine, it didn't need to be any longer when the structure and production was so perfect. Absolutely addicted, such a killer release from Solar!
Also Solar is 31 now and it has been a long time now, where she won't let herself be censored by anyone. She is very confident in herself and won't let herself bring down by other peoples opinions on her looks or actions. Which was also the literal meaning of Spit it out, which is a bop!!! These people need to get themselves together, like how do you not go off on such a great song, like huh?????
@@aaronv3859 I was shocked too, I never checked how old she was!! I literally thought she was still 27 or 28, similar to IU’s age. She is gorgeous!! Literally stunning. Solar literally has amazing vocals and looks.
I love how the MV starts with a mask breaking/coming off and ends with her putting a mask on. Almost like its alluding to the how she's different than she's perceived. It works really well with the Honey/Honey Trap theme imo.
Yes, and how she is seen from this "honey" gaze by everyone around her, because she is popular, but no one really know the real her, and maybe if the people knew all aspects of her personality, they wouldnt praise her so much.
All 4 of them have been slapping with their solo Releases!! I'm so excited for the OT4 Comeback, that hopefully will come this year :) Thank you very much for reacting! I'm a b and Lunatic have been on repeat for weeks now, same with Watercolor, which was my favorite Girl group song of 2021 and now Solar comes in and slaps me with Honey :')
You absolutely got it right about her doing new things for her solo because she has done what she's good at and is expected of her to fit in mamamoo's concept and colours. So for her solo, she's exploring and she should absolutely do that (as I think other members are doing this too). Also, I think people need to see that Solar is more than just belting and high notes. She's a versatile singer and a great dancer and performer. She also writes and composes songs. She's an artist in her own right.
She's a killer bee and she did her thing - she killed it. Glad we agree for once, tho imo there was a short bridge after the rap verse and just the right amount of chorus at the end. Like the album, the song is short and sweet but somehow they both feel like there's a lot packed into a small package. I like Spit It Out but it didn't knock me out the way Honey does. Folks might expect Solar to flex her power vocals but at this point in her career she has absolutely nothing to prove and as you said she loves to try new things and take on different challenges. Your interpretation of the lyrics & MV was perfectly fine on a first view but I think you overlooked a few things or at least didn't mention the honey looks she talks about receiving or the destruction of the images of her where she's been put on a pedestal. It also seems to me that there are some nods to the other members of MMM in the song & MV and that there's more to the color choices than just visual design. No shade, btw, since I've watched it a dozen times and have just started to gather my thoughts about the MV.
I think something that makes this comeback brilliant is how happy Solar looks throughout the music video. She looks like she’s absolutely enjoying the process and it suits the tone of the song and it’s amazing to see her so content. I love it
Solar is a senior idol. She’s 31. Mamamoo achieved such huge success and all the members are so famous now with RUclips channels, variety shows and radio shows etc. She can do whatever she wants. She refuses to be censored. Let’s face it… Solar is basically the CEO of Rainbow Bridge lol
I love honey, I think everything about it screams Solar. Like said in the video, we know what she can deliver when doing group stuff, so it’s nice to see her take on a different style for her solo. Not only does it take courage to try something new, you also need to have the skill to back it up.
Def my favorite Solar release and probably my favorite release out of the four though they’re all great. I love how playful her vocals are here, and it’s almost like she reinvented herself. It’s youthful and fresh. Kind of reminds me of IU, and it’d actually be interesting having her on this track because they’d slay. Anyway, loveeeeeeee!!
im absolutely OBSESSED with how they've pulled together a chorus this chock full of so many catchy elements; normally a prechorus is a little underwhelming to get to a good chorus and then a banging drop but every single part of it is amazing here??? I totally think the construction of it without a third chorus is the perfect choice, the whole energy of the song and her lyrics are 'i'm gonna leave you wanting a little more' but any more actually would be too much for us to handle. Yong's vocal colour is being utilised SO well here and the visuals are just absolutely spectacular. I think solar having so many different outfit choices here plays into that idea of her saying "i can do what i want at any age", and I'm always so proud of her for trying and doing whatever she wants!
I love honey over her previous for exactly what you mentioned - it's the LAYERS yet SIMPLICITY. Only a pro can pull this off....a true Solar challenge accepted moment
I think you hit the nail on the head!! I do truly love the fact that she doesn't do what is expected of her, It's very much in line with who she, a person that likes to try new things 'que Solarsido jingle'. At the end of the day when she looks back she'll be one of the few that won't live with regrets because she got to try all the things she wants. She had done so much work all of last year showcasing just how versatile she is as an artist, I recommend people unaware to give those a view too. She is capable of many things so I'll never know what to expect with a comeback in regards to her which I feel adds to the excitement. Looking forward to a Mamamoo comeback at some point this year too hopefully. I feel all the members have solidified themselves as amazing soloists.
Honestly, I didn't like spit it out at all so I wasn't expecting a whole lot when I clicked on this mv but I'm absolutely obsessed with it! I'm a sucker for anti-drop fakeouts but they can be hard to pull it off so I'm impressed with how well it flows! Not to mention how gorgeous the mv is. This has definitely got me interested in checking out her b-sides too.
I loved her voice here, I don't think she has done something quite like this ever before, her voice sounds so sweet and fresh. Also, I think this feels very Solar. It's a provocative song but she threw in there some playful elements and even a few cute expressions, and the hand gestures? I don't know if she helped with the choreo but it also felt exactly like her.
Love feels like too weak a word for this song and MV, actually the whole mini-album. It is so Solar, so polished, smooth, interesting and playful. I am one of those who love both Spit It Out and Honey. To me, Spit It Out hid a lot of its gems so it was particularly rewarding to listen to it over and over again. She used her voice in different ways than how we were used to hearing her use her voice up until that point, and it also felt like an introduction for people who may not follow Solarsido to Solar's motivation for trying new things as a way to channel her life passion and tireless work ethic. You've already covered a lot of the things I love about Honey, so I won't wax lyrical about it here.
Welcome to the radish garden (MAMAMOO fans are called "moomoo" which means radish in Korean)!!! Hope you check out all her songs and MAMAMOO songs. They're fantastic. MAMAMOO members are all talented artists. BTW have you listened to Hwasa's Maria in any case? Since it was quite popular in 2020.
Solar did Solar and the whole album, FACE is really so good, honey is addictive also. In just 5 months, each of mamamoo members have released solo albums, giving us different kind of music styles or genre and that is so amazing because fans get to see different side of the members. And as always, they never disappoint whether it's mamamoo's songs, or their solo songs. I swear, MAMAMOO is worth stanning, because you get too have a talented, (vocal) girlgroup, and 4 active soloists, 4 vocalist, 4 rappers, 4 songwriters, plus the amount of content they release, from osts, collaborations and features. They are just so different & unique and that is just one out of hundred things we fans love about them.
I really enjoyed both releases from Solar. It’s two different sounds from her and I really liked that she tried different concepts. Honey is my favorite of the two. It’s more playful and I really enjoy the instrumental background behind her vocals. I’m always a beat person when it comes to music so she definitely had me hooked on the first listen
Yes, I was expecting them to comment about the rapping at any moment 😂 Maybe PD considered it too obviously included in the "trying new things" part? Just guessing 😅
Couldn't Said it better myself!. She Nailed it & Then Some! It's definitely gonna be iconic for years to come! The project as a whole is just noteworthy of best album vs USA ones! Is that damm good!
Solar keeps things fresh I think, lots of people usually prefer chorus than the verses at times and I think thats what the focus was on. Either way I agree with everything - Love the song and the reaction vid 🙌
I like SPIT IT OUT, but I like HONEY so much more. When I listened to HONEY for the first time, I was like "Huh?" because I've been streaming HONEY teasers for too many times LOL But when I gave it a second listen, I was like "oH mY gODD" because it's so addictive. I found out there's no bridge but it worked for HONEY so well! The song's structure is kinda fresh to me and makes me want to keep listening to it. Thank you so much for a high quality reaction video!!!
given that the name of her ep is 容 : FACE, the mv setup and her outfit being the same color highlights her visuals even more! and the different colored sets prove how she stands out in everything she does. 🍯🐝
there's just something so captivating about Solar, I love watching her and listening to her songs. Honey is REALLY good and like you said, it works /because/ Solar has this incredible voice and she doesn't have to prove she can belt to anyone!
I loved this release right away. She sounds amazing but the song is also so interesting. It kept building up, I would think that that part was the peak and then it would just keep going, I was sold when it hit that catchy chorus. I think it's playing on the unique song structure trend right now but it's still so catchy and vocally impressive.
Solar radiates such confidence when she tries new things like this, i really think that's her biggest strength. to be unafraid of trying something that people might possibly not like is BOLD for an idol in the kpop industry lol. like... she made her concept "trying new concepts". solashido is her concept! very cool of her~
Personally I liked both Spit it out and Honey, although Honey stands out more both for the structure of the song and for the visual delight offered by the video, which by the way the use of colors throughout the video reminded me of ViviD and BBIBBI (by Heejin and IU respectively) which are also 2 MVs that I visit often 😎👌🏻
I would of LOVED an outro at the end with just the cool horns at the end! Edit: actually I’m realizing it’s a type of synth sax that PD pointed out. Kept that going with a percussion beat. So good
I LOVE this song! I was so excited for Solar’s solo comeback and with her, I never know what to expect. I’ve had the album on repeat! I never thought of how to shortness of the song could add to wanting to replay it, but now that you’ve mentioned it, I totally see how it does!
at first i didnt know how to put it in words but i think these are the right ones: this comeback is so solar. i almost expected her to do something i didnt expect and even tho i kinda knew that, that mv and that song hit me like a truck because who wouldve thought we will get such an iconic chorus and song build-up?
I love this song, its fun af! like you mentioned, the lighting and the colors in the video are just so pleasant to watch, I think this is an upgrade from spit it out. You should totally react to the rest of the album, it is a very pop, dance, experimental one, also there is the song called big booty and that is a fan favorite, the second best song in the album imo, just after honey
As a Mamamoo fan I came to conclusion that yes, Mamamoo songs utilized Solar's voice in various ways and there is no need for her to prove to anyone what she can do, so she can just focus on things she doesn't get to do in Mamamoo. Like her little rap section for example. I am in LOVE with Honey. As much as I like Spit it out, I think it did not really capture general audience's attention well and was kinda forgotten. Honey on the contrary is very vibrant and catchy, so I really hope this comeback takes Solar's solo career further. As you said, those vibrant colors and minimalistic sets work perfectly for this song. It's just very pleasant to watch. Also the whole album is really good and diverse! I really recommend it!
YES. YES. YES. I agree so much with you, everything u said about her solo music and her role in mamamoo. If u want to listen to her grand vocals take a listen to her many osts or many mamamoo songs, TT or Bside. Solar is a free spirit who longst to express herself in different ways and that is why she chooses to make music like Honey (bop!) or Spit it out (bop!!). Also the reason why she gets on different shows and works on solarsido. If you want to get to know her just take a look on solarsido, that's literally the place where she expresses herself the most in many different ways.
I was very surprised to see this side of solar and I’m not disappointed!! This is already one of my favorite releases of the year and we’re only 3 months in
I absolutely love that she challenges herself. And find her approach to music so heartfelt and genuine, she just likes to communicate her feelings and challenges through them. Seeing what she cooks up is always so interesting too. I love both SIO and HONEY She said in an interview that since she usually gets the chorus for ot4 songs, she finds that she also likes bass a lot. Since they seem to prefer to match the group's color first, she likes to explore her other ranges in her solos.
At first I was like this is different from what I exoected and then it immediately came to mind this is Solar and her channel is about new challenges. A perfect Solar comeback. As for comparison to Spit it Out. Spit it Out was a " safe " release whereas Honey feels more of a " brave " release. Video ....... llove the tone on tone. She becomes the absolute centre of attention.
I can only think of 1 of the reasons why Solars wardrobe is much sexy in a way. I think maybe it's due to her recent success with workout for a magazine with boss yang. i really am into this bop music and the unexpected turn on Solar's vocal
I love the mini album, it served a lot of different things. They also made a track using the spit it out intro sample, which is always fun. And Big Booty has that Melting sound that I absolutely loved ! Definitely check it out, that track is more mamamoo solar in my opinion~
It's a but funny, but "short and sweet" is exactly how I would describe the song. It certainly wasn't what I was expecting...albeit, I wasn't sure what I was expecting. All I know for sure is that she was going to do something bold, and for the fans. And she did. I liked it.
Thank you for this reaction PD. I love everything about this song, tho at first I was like "where's the bridge part?" smth is missing, but then after several listen I eat my words. THIS IS PERFECT, I love how it was constructed, the lyrics is cute, the mv is so beautiful everything is perfect. And if I'm gonna choose bet. spit it out and honey, I'll definitely choose honey 🍯 ✨
PD you've been working so hard constantly keeping up with the comebacks..Thank you so.much for taking your time..love your videos👍👍❤❤❤❤🥰🥰and as always solar slays..😘
I'm so glad with the comeback. She looks stunning at the music video, the song is cachty and I hope that she get good positions at the charts. Solar is THE queen 🌞
Solar releases only bops , im so happy she doesent go with the predictable ballad path , she THE most multitalented idol so itll be a crime if she confines herself to only doing 1 thing
I was also surprised by the timecode of that music video/song itself and I started to worry, why it is short. But although I prefer longer/normal length, it depends if that song is short because they made it shorter or if the song didn’t need to be made longer to have “normal length” and in this case it’s the way that it didn’t need to be longer, so yeah I agree at the end it feels perfect
I think it could also be that in Mamamoo she HAS to be that strong, smack you in the face, vocal but as a solo artist she doesn't HAVE to be that trump card. She can sing a song in a way she wants rather than always having to belt for her life.
I wonder who did the music video because it’s *scrumptious* The colours are graded so perfectly. This is one of the better music videos to use colour in such a cohesive way in a while out of all the kpop videos I’ve seen recently.
I loved the MV, it was so nice to look at and super clean. I'm glad Solar is still going strong on an industry that stops liking female idols after they hit 30.
I'm OBSESSED with how unique the structure of the chorus is. They gave us a pre-chorus, actual chorus, and post-chorus that all felt like one major chorus. I've also never heard a song under 3 minutes feel like a 4+ minute song before so it's composition is brilliant as well.
Loved both solar's stuff spit it out and honey...watch her channel as much as possible too yes you were right about her wanting to her liking of experimenting with her sound and i am loving it looking forward to more experiments *wink*
Tbh there are a lot of kpop songs out there that i like but THIS ONE tho. I literally like every part of the song, others are good too but this one gives out different vibes🤭
This SHOWED HER VOCALS. She does not need to sing high notes to show she has technic, there is more on a singer than that. She shows here she can fit everything, even rapped a little. I can't see this song on another voice color other than Solar's. She just showed us how addicting her voice is and how it can make us drown to the music. AMAZING.
That three-part chorus was a strange, but genius move. I agree that the length was fine, it didn't need to be any longer when the structure and production was so perfect. Absolutely addicted, such a killer release from Solar!
Agreed! It def sets you up to want to hear it again. Her playful vocals, rap and delivery were superb.
Agreed, when it ends you immediately want to put it on again
Amen
i didn’t really love it at first listen, liked it but not love, but then the more i played it, the more i got addicted to it. it’s so good
thats what i was thinkin

at first i didnt know how to put it in words but i think these are the right ones: this comeback is so solar. i almost expected her to do something i didnt expect and even tho i kinda knew that, that mv and that song hit me like a truck because who wouldve thought we will get such an iconic chorus and song build-up?
I love this song, its fun af! like you mentioned, the lighting and the colors in the video are just so pleasant to watch, I think this is an upgrade from spit it out. You should totally react to the rest of the album, it is a very pop, dance, experimental one, also there is the song called big booty and that is a fan favorite, the second best song in the album imo, just after honey
I think Honey is great! The MV is so aesthetically pleasing with its nice colors. The whole mini-album is great too!
i mean seeing you speak give me goosebumps for real
edit: in a good way, because u totally feel and taste the songs, the artists and mv
the song is pretty short but she slayed every aspect
This just feels so much more fun and alive than Spit It Out. I love seeing her expressions and vocals change and play along with the lyrics
Yesssss my bestie!!! She absolutely CRUSHED this album
I love the 'rap part' it is so catchy
If you want to get to know her just take a look on solarsido, that's literally the place where she expresses herself the most in many different ways.
love both Solar´songs.Honey is more provocative. Love you reaction, Thank you!
I was very surprised to see this side of solar and I’m not disappointed!! This is already one of my favorite releases of the year and we’re only 3 months in
Solar's song seems easy to sing but it's noooot. It's more breathy and the beat is faster, and Solar always does it. The vocal queen that she is! 💕
I thought the musical engineering in this song is out of the world!!
I love this song so much! Such a great one from solar.
I absolutely love that she challenges herself. And find her approach to music so heartfelt and genuine, she just likes to communicate her feelings and challenges through them. Seeing what she cooks up is always so interesting too.
I love both SIO and HONEY
She said in an interview that since she usually gets the chorus for ot4 songs, she finds that she also likes bass a lot.
Not a fan of mamamoo’s music but Solar’s solo music is just too good 🙌🏻
I loved the unique structure of this song bc it never allowed for me to get bored!! And I love how her vocals sound in this song 💖
I liked it.
I really liked Spit It Out and I really like Honey!
I liked both Spit it out and Honey, they are completely different but amazing at the same time!
So happy you're reacting to her
Thank you for this reaction PD.
Solar❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
PD you've been working so hard constantly keeping up with the comebacks..Thank you so.much for taking your time..love your videos👍👍❤❤❤❤🥰🥰and as always solar slays..😘
I'm so glad with the comeback. She looks stunning at the music video, the song is cachty and I hope that she get good positions at the charts. Solar is THE queen 🌞
I thought "Spit it out" was ok, but "Honey" is genius.
i honestly would've loved a bridge and a final chorus, but i still genuinely adore it. it's such a catchy song and it's very re-listenable!
I miss when you used to say "don't wanna support us monetarily or *cant*" I felt included. Lol
The song struckture is so interesting
It's been two years!! Wow, it felt like yesterday
LET'S GO I WAS WAITING FOR THIS REACTION 🙌🏼
I love both Solar's solo songs... 💜💜💜
I think it could also be that in Mamamoo she HAS to be that strong, smack you in the face, vocal but as a solo artist she doesn't HAVE to be that trump card. She can sing a song in a way she wants rather than always having to belt for her life.
Solar has this way of looking right through the camera and into your soul.
Honey is a song that you want to repeat after you have listened to it, it's sweetly addicting to hear. I think the length helps.
I wonder who did the music video because it’s *scrumptious*
The colours are graded so perfectly. This is one of the better music videos to use colour in such a cohesive way in a while out of all the kpop videos I’ve seen recently.
You love to see it.
PD, I was waiting for you to review this and I'm so glad you did
the reaction that I expected the most, thanks for doing it so quickly
Loved both solar's stuff spit it out and honey...watch her channel as much as possible too
yes you were right about her wanting to her liking of experimenting with her sound and i am loving it
looking forward to more experiments *wink*
I love Spit it Out, I love Honey, I love Solar, just love 😂
Queen Solar killed this song!. I absolutely like this song that matches of solar vocal abilities. This is interesting to listen a lot too.
Tbh there are a lot of kpop songs out there that i like but THIS ONE tho. I literally like every part of the song, others are good too but this one gives out different vibes🤭
Everytime Mamamoo or one of the girls make a comeback I have to come here watch your review! Great video, thanks!
I'm so addicted to this song, I love the energy of the continuous chorus 🐝
I was really looking forward to your reaction
I think this is going to become my favorite mmm solo she really did that
Solar did amazing, it's already on my playlist. !!! All 4 Mamamoo girls never disappoint with their solos.
AMAZING.
