I can relate to the excitement of meeting a new person and falling into the thought pattern that they could be the one. We are at a point in life where we are feeling the strain of the lack of connection with others and have also been shown through media for decades the excitement romantic relationships look like. We have focused so long on the fact that, all are problems would be solved by finding the one. We are ready to try and fit any possible person into that column that we jump the gun of friendship. Losing the companionship of a really cool person, because our brains have been shaped to look for love when all it needs is to be itself and find companionship/friendship. I’m challenged with this myself and have been trying to find friends with similar interests at places that have those grounds for connecting like: Libraries, roller rinks, skate parks, coffee shops… (third places where I can start conversations to possibly find good connections).
Nice one Erica, thanks for your comment, it’s especially hard when you feel alone but you’re never alone, you’re all one. And when you find peace with yourself, peaceful people will come along. I believe that. Thank you so much for extending yourself and sharing. I’m from a small town and it’s hard to find like minded people, hence i turn to youtube and people have been very supportive. Skateparks, i wish we had one here, but it’s small places like this which are hard to find people at. I’m sure we will survive :)
