One of the most emotionally evocative songs ever, always brings a tear to my eye. I met Brad Delp once, he was such a humble, down to earth guy, his suicide really hit me hard. Such a huge loss.
Of all the great Boston songs, this is one of the best.
💯🔥🔥
Rest high on that mountain Brad Delp. Peace.
This song helped me though many high school moments feeling alone and searching for who I was, it gave me strength when I was feeling down. It takes on a whole new meaning whenever I hear it now after Brad's death. His voice was so amazing, and I heard so many nice things about him -- he was MORE than the man he was meant to be, I wish he knew it.... RIP
R I P Brad Such a wonderful voice !
This was one of my many favorite Boston songs...Brad Delp's vocals were perfection here... still sad to know he never got to see the impact he has had on people through his music, over 40 years later!
The best boston song of all time, and they have so many. So underrated, period.
Agree.I had their first 3 albums back then. This song was my favorite.
It is my favorite Boston song!
Agree 100 percent @jaymeyers526
Great song but sad at the same time, knowing now that Brad Delp, singer, suffered from severe depression and eventually committed suicide😢
Goosebumps!! Been listening to this band for over 40 years.
Very good reaction, it's as simple as that. One of, if not my favorite Boston song.
Couldn't click fast enough. A beautiful song.
Boston, Heart, Kansas...you both have excellent taste in music. Brad Delp, Nancy Wilson, and Steve Walsh are three of my favorite singers ever (Delp and Wilson, particularly, are my favorite male and female singers, respectively).
Wonderful tribute to Brad Delp. Choked me up a little😔
If i had a nickel for everytime i played this song i would be quite financially comfortable....but i got more from it...emotional comfort. Still have the album with this track almost worn out. RIP brad...find the peace your searching for.
another Boston masterpiece
Slow or fast...they could do it all.Vocals,words,bass,drums,guitar,keyboards...no weak links. The guy with the beard and long hair shown occasionally was Brad Delp, lead singer who committed suicide......he is still missed.
This was the last song my late husband played on his drums.
It’s a majestic song. RIP Brad
Love your reviews you two. Boston well just a great band period. Keep up the fun reviews.
At around 6:04 of the song the guitar solo is cut way too short, bad editing I guess. Thanks for reacting to this song. A lot of gems and jams from all their albums.
Yeah, this is not the original album version.
Yeah that’s like my favorite part too! I hate that!
A beautifully melodic song with wonderful vocals as always from Boston.
First time hearing this song - Boston: Their music is just so rich ; high-flying guitar; solid drumming; beautiful male vocals. And they rock - and give their music a rolling quality too ! They throw a solid wall of music !
First time?
Grasshopper, where have you been?
Thank you both so much for reacting to my favorite Boston song of all time. It's amazing that a lot of people have never heard of it.
I can relate to this song , I once was given the ultimatum by my wife to quit doing drugs and drinking . I tried so hard but I was a fake I. did a good job of hiding it from her but I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar . I honestly tried to stop but just couldn’t , she left and today I’m sober . Go figure , coincidence?
This has always been one of the weirdest of my favorites, simply because the force progression of the music builds pretty early on, and it has a long distance to travel to the end. There is a lot of love and stress being expressed in the song, and what's missing in this version is part of one of the extended lead solos that helps really build it up to the end. What I've learned is that the length of the song itself it part of the total expression, and it makes a difference.
One of the best bands evet.brad delp, rip bro, u were the best, tom scholtz, talent on loan, great music 4 all 2 listen too. This song great power ballet, message too. Saw them 4 times.
As about a perfectly put together song you might ever listen to....R.I.P. Brad Delp.Suicide is so cruel.
Wow what a voice Brad had rip
Thank you for your great and thoughtful appraisal of this under-rated epic Boston song. Even if you cannot identify with the sentiments personally, the weeping guitar and the heartfelt words of the singer, really help you empathise with them. RIP Brad Delp.
Love it, my favorite song from the second album! I agree that the lyrics touches a very relatable theme of adult life. I'm sure everyone have situations were they sometime feel inadequate, both personal and proffesional.
Extremely powerful!
This was one of my most favorite Boston songs BECAUSE of the guitar work. The way that one cool flowing semi-solo part works (you know the one I mean), is just magical and gives the song a cosmic feel, which kinda goes to Boston's entire guitar sound to begin with. The way they tune their guitars to sound like this was their signature sound. Very innovative for a 70s rock band.
Always been my favorite along with Amanda. RIP Brad
no visuals...just the uninterrupted song. ruclips.net/video/Gmc_t7m2pC4/видео.html
You try your hardest but its never going to be
Boston...¡¡GRAAANDE! Recuerdos de mi juventud con un tremendo grupo...
First real power ballad imo...
Love this song
it's one of my favorite bands, thanks
Love you guys! Great reactions from great timeless music 👍💯👌🤘
i sent a comment to check out this song a while back, i knew you'd love it. i think its their 2nd best song after more than a feeling
A wonderful melliflous soulful rock song by the Boston trio🌹 Great reaction Enoma 🎎
Only 3 members were involved in the recording of this song. Guitarist Barry Goudreau and bassist Fran Sheehan were recruited to perform at live shows where they performed as 5 members
@@davidholloway1817
Barry Goudreau is involved in the recording of 4 out of 8 songs on this album but not this one.
@@davidholloway1817 Yes appears so. But cheers for making me double check👍 because I found out that there was 4 in 4.
5:45 I had that record, I loved that record, and I miss that record. The artwork was fantastic.
RIP Brad Delp. A voice of the ages!
Delp vocals plus Scholtz guitar equals perfection.
RIP Brad Lord forgive him he did love your created and let him see the true Love that you give.
Tom Scholtz did the lead guitar on this one ,though Barry gudreau ( I may have misspell his name) was mainly the official rhythim guitarrist of Boston in the first two records ( still most of the guitar work was done by Scholtz). Is a great but heartbreaking song especially after Delp's suicide decades after this song was written.
They actually traded solos on some songs.
@@ViciousAlienKlown Correct. But most of the guitar work was done by Scholtz.
Tom played every instrument but drums on the first record.. recorded on his basement studio. Dude is amazing...
How many men can relate to these words?
Thank you! Great song
Never get sick of this song.....
Thanks for posting and review!!!
Great comments!
A great song by them
I am from their home area and grew up listening to them. Love their songs to this day. Floods of teen memories come back when listening. Thx for your review! You always pick good ones too!
This song brings out a lot of emotion. Unfortunately ,suicide is a permanent solution to a possible, temporary problem. Brad Delp had one of the best voices in rock and roll music. It's a shame someone didn't see his path to end his life Before it happened. If you like his voice like I'm sure most people do. You should check out the group 38 special. Their lead singer Don Barnes, Has a similar voice.
I really like Don Barnes. I've had the privilege to have met both he and Brad and, without any disrespect at all to Don, as he's an excellent singer, no one compares to Brad for me. Brad had every bit the range of Mercury and, I think, a more soothing tone, but simply wasn't the flamboyant showman that Freddie was. If substance mattered more than style, Brad would be every bit as much the household name Freddie is and just as much on people's lips when they think of the best male rock singers. Never mind that he never would have wanted that level of fame.
@@sethbaruti4367 I agree with you 100%... If you want to see something truly awesome.. check out Rick beato.. what makes this song great.. More than a feeling.. Brad's isolated vocals are insane.. so good... And while you're there check out Carry on wayward son from Kansas.. those isolated vocals are also great.. Kansas is my favorite band..👍🇺🇲
@@michaelbrowne541 I love Kansas, too. Boston is my favorite, but Steve Walsh was always very high on my list of favorite singers, perhaps just behind Brad & Ann Wilson.
@@sethbaruti4367 I agree with you about Ann Wilson ..she is probably my favorite female rock voice.. if you haven't already.. you should check out halestorm.. Lzzy Hale has a great voice.. and another favorite for me is Jeff Lynne from ELO..
My favorite band, awesome song, great reaction!
Could you PLEASE do Godsmack Trippin......PLZ!!!!
Tom Scholtz is one of the guitar players. He was considered a great guitar player.
You should listen to Jimi Hendrix- Axis, Bold as Love.
Steve Vai- In My Dreams
Another Great One, BOSTON Rocks the House !!!...
One other thing,I had Boston's first 3 albums back then(1980's).This is my favorite song of theirs.
Hi, I love your reactions and I've loved this song since it was first released. I grew up in the same hometown (Danvers, Massachusetts) as the lead singer, Brad Delp (RIP) and my oldest brother graduated high school with him. Brad was a huge Beatles fan and his yearbook quote was "Have you heard the new Beatles album"? (he also played in a Beatles cover band called Beatlejuice for years while he was in Boston). Tom Scholtz started the band and he is a musical and electronics genius (he has a masters degree in Mechanical engineering from MIT). He wrote, recorded and produced nearly the entire first Boston album in his basement and he played all the guitars, keyboards and bass. The drums were played by Sib Hashian and all the vocals were sung by Brad Delp.
Best reaction yet. So emotional 😢 thnx guys. Sometimes it takes a song like this to keep us grounded. It's real
I grew up listening to Boston the coolest guitar sound classic Boston
It's nice to see you two enjoying the music I grew up on.Wish you could of seen them live in concert.
Even as a teen, when this song came out...it was my favorite Boston song. One of the best songs of any genre
I really like these two, man did they get into the music, I think to do a better job than anybody else it does reactions, great job
Can't help it, to watch all these people (not just them) in this awkward position of being basically forced into a positive take on every song they're hearing for the first time is really cringalicious. Often reacting to music they're not even inclined to naturally, or familiar with... But they want their channel to grow, so they're going to talk well of it. I'll tell you what, there might be three or four songs ever that on the first listen I REALLY liked, it's just a fact that it takes a few listens to come to truly appreciate a song. It's just really contrived, but it's a fascinating bit of human behavior to observe nonetheless. 😁
This is a hidden gem
Sub request.....Allman Brothers- Soulshine.
The guitar in this song is so beautiful it brings years to my eyes. I love Boston.❤️ 4:49
Why Brad? Why?😢😢💔💔
Ugh, your comment really hit me hard. A simple question that really gets at an extremely painful and complex condition in people like Brad Delp that built over a long time. For such an extreme act that devastates so many, we have the right to ask why, and the fact that the answer given in every suicide note is completely unsatisfactory to us left with the hardship of the loss only serves to reveal yet again there is in fact a spiritual component to human beings, and the answer lies there. Also yet another proof that popularity, fortune, respect, love, talent, sex, drugs...these things we all think will fulfill us simply do not.
