Dean, I'm a physical therapist in Pittsburgh who loves your vids. I'm sure you've been getting PT for a while now but if you would ever like a second look or any advice feel free to ask! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Been missing your Neighborhoods series, I was worried COVID put a damper on them. However seeing this, THIS IS WAY CRAZIER!!! Hope your recovery goes well, holy moly that's a serious injury! Glad you're still making videos!
I can tell from this video that your talents are not necessarily dependent on 100% mobility (which I hope you regain). Glad you are progressing and sorry this event happened.
BOG IS BACK This just motivated me to make the most out of this fall and winter. I’m glad to see you’re motivated, and I wish you all the best in the recovery process! Great first video back.
Dean, everyone loves your videos, and we really missed you. So good to see that even with your first comeback video, you're still doing an excellent job. I shattered my ankle about 5 years ago, and I have to say, recovery takes so much longer than you think it will. And PT is such a bitch. But it DOES get better! You are younger than I am, have an amazing attitude, and are so resilient. It looks like you're doing really well. And your fans are encouraged---we hope to see some new stuff when you are ready. Welcome back!
I was wondering what happened to your videos. I moved from Pittsburgh about 15yrs ago and miss it everyday. Your videos really got me thinking about moving my family to the burgh. Good to see your okay and back to filming.
My talus was shattered when I got hit by a truck driven by a teenager. I’m still recovering almost 3 months in. Thank you for inspiring me that it can get better!
Glad to see you back! My partner and I have been watching your videos to get an idea of life in Pittsburgh before moving here from California. You were helpful in our decision and we decided not to go. Just kidding! We moved here a few months ago and we are loving it. Every time we see a long haired dude I shout to her, "Look, it's Dean Bog!!" Makes her look every time.
healing takes 2 years. i shattered (the centers of) both feet in my senior year high school. 5 months wheel chair, and 3 months walker, crutches, & learning to walk again.
Good luck to you on a fast recovery. My wife and I enjoy your videos and due to your great content I’ve just returned home from our first trip to Pittsburgh yesterday. Can you please provide your Patreon link so that we can help support you during these tougher than normal times?
So glad you're back! I just binge re-watched Neighborhoods and was wondering how you were. Stay strong! "Better your talus than your phallus," my grandfather always said. (He didn't and I'm sorry.)
Brilliant! You’re awesome. . Functional ankles! Shattered my talas broke my back. Paragliding for 26 years. Shit fucking happens. Thanks for the inspiration Looking forward to more recovery videos and show how that mojo is coming along 😜
I broke my heel in a climbing fall 5 days ago, and went to surgery 3 days ago. I've been feeling miserable those days, thinking that I might not be able to climb ever again (I'm 45). That video made me feel better. Thank you.
I shattered my talus June 26 in a car accident on the freeway.. it’s not easy but seeing this video made me feel so much better 😭🙏🏼 praying you continue to heal ❤️
Never give up. If you want it bad enough and you are willing to work for it, you will get it back, whatever "it" is--your mojo, your drive, your enthusiasm, your physical mobility, you skill as a video artist, you productive, happy life. You have many followers of your videos that are pulling for you. Fight the good fight. Start making your entertaining and powerful videos again.
I’ve been rewatching some of the neighborhood videos for the past few days. I heard about your ankle injury on your Instagram, sucks to hear but good to see the recovery is going well and glad to see you’re able to post again. Keep kickin!
An awesome powerful message to hear/see on a gloomy Monday, brought a smile to my face and can’t wait for more videos, hope to visit soon, maybe a town deli sub will do the trick!
Glad to see you're getting your mojo back, Dean! This video brought so much joy to me seeing you recovering. As someone who has dealt with major knee surgery (with external fixators), I know it can feel like a long journey ahead, but you've got this. You will be filming, slacking, climbing, and spike-balling before you know it.
Exact same thing happened to me, fell off a horse. Been 6 months since I've walked without crutches. Love this video! Makes me feel a lot better and more confident that I'll get back to doing stuff I love.
Good to see you back. And best of luck with the rest of your recovery. You've got a great attitude about it. Don't rush things, and keep looking forward.
amigo, my son Vincent sent me this link today, thanks for this vid. I know it has been a long road back and more journeys are ahead, but sounds like your head is in the right place. I suspect lots of prayers and Good Vibes are heading your way for a full recovery. Hang in there and keep on keeping on, would love to share a couple beers and tacos with you when the smoke clears. All the best, brother.
Ugh that’s rough! My SIL had a similar injury working the ambulance and recovery is just a long road. Take care and come back with whatever videos make you happy! Prayers for a full recovery thanks for checking in!
Damn bro...I’m glad you’re alive. You had us all worried on here. I pray you have a speedy recovery and I commend you for giving it your all getting back to doing the things you love!
Wow you’re a tough guy. I’m 7 weeks into a talus fracture. I’m terrified I won’t ever walk the same. This is inpiring because no one seems to know about this break and how immobilizing it is. Thanks for the video hope you’re killing it now.
@@IslanderloverBKK I started to walk on It about week 12 it was with the air cast but I got out of it pretty fast wore it for a couple hours a day and a couple hours with shoes that had really soft insoles. Lots of limping and pain. But back into shoes after 2 weeks of starting to walk. I had to buy wider shoes as they no longer fit. And bought the softest crocs on the market helped a lot. I’m now at 6 months and doing much better. Still painful. But another 6 months will help.
I saw on the reddit that you messed up your ankle, and I've been hoping you've been doing well. I cried out in joy seeing that you can walk somewhat properly, and glad that your slowly getting back into things! Hopefully the Neighborhoods series will be back as well as your other awesome videos, but getting better should be top priority of course!
Been missing your stuff, but my god! I just tore my rotator cuff last week after getting belay certified, totally counting my blessings. You’re a total king! Mad props to your continuing recovery.
Dean - I admire your drive. It's absolutely inspirational. Please keep letting that voice inside of you out so we all can hear it. Your work makes the world a better place.
Take your time with the healing!! Love that you're making videos again, but as you learned, you only get one of everything in this life - nothing man-made ever measures up to the original. You'll always have to think about that damn bone now and respect its wishes.
oh Dean, I was just thinking about you and wondering where you had been. So sorry to hear you hurt yourself. You are bouncing back like crazy though, hang in there!
That sucks Dean, but it looks like you are making good progress in your recovery so far and I wish you the best. I broke my calcaneus (heel) almost exactly 3 years ago in a mountain biking crash. It was at least 6 months before it was anything close to "normal" and I could ride bikes again. However it will never be the same and while 90% of the time it's fine, 10% of the time I still get discomfort or pain with slight stiffness and limping after certain activities.
get well soon Dean , just happy I discovered your channel , brings back memories when I went to see my distant relatives in Pittsburgh although I come from Europe , feel in love instantly in people & city , was there one whole summer .... fast recovery
You are destined to be great! Your videos are some of the best that I have ever seen on RUclips, don't give up. Physical injuries can be very difficult to overcome physically but even more so mentally. Don't give up! You got this!
Having spent time in a very similar looking ex-fix.... It sucks. And it takes forever. But you can heal. Take the PT seriously and try to keep the dark stuff at bay. 2 years removed from my injury and I'm still not on the track team, but things are functional. Good luck, great to see you making videos again!
Best of luck in your recovery Dean. Sure have missed you and all your wonderful stories and explorations of Pittsburgh neighborhoods. You have quite a gift and are so very talented in film making and story telling. Welcome back so very much.
I'm sorry to see and hear what happened to you, but on the flip side, I'm glad the reason we didn't see you was purely because of this pand we're going through. I have my own reasons for feeling that way about this current situation. Glad to hear you're coming back, and look forward to seeing what content you have. 👍
My prays are will you I love your videos. Is there anything. I can do to help oye I mean it I know you don’t Know me but like to help you out of I can. Please let me know. Hoping for a quick recovery
Dean! Man! Glad to see you back. Been worried about you brother! Sorry to hear about your ankle, best of luck and well wishes in your recovery efforts! Looking forward to future videos!
EYOO you're back!! Dude so excited to get a notification from this channel! Started supporting you on Patreon as well, cant wait to see more of your stuff! Your video on Wilkinsburg was actually a major factor in helping me decide to move there recently, and I've never regretted it. Keep up the incredible work!
I love your videos and I’m glad to see you back. So sorry for what happened to you! I pray for your full recovery. Please think about not rock climbing 🧗♀️.
Brother, I fucked my knee when I was 36, basically nearly tore my leg in half, and I'm here to tell you your on a lifetime's journey, you n that ankle. Good on ya.

We're all here waiting for you to pick back up where you left off. Take your time! No one is going anywhere!
Keep kicking ass Dean, we missed you man!
It’s good to see and hear from you again, don’t rush the healing process let your ankle take its time to heal.
Been missing your Neighborhoods series, I was worried COVID put a damper on them.
However seeing this, THIS IS WAY CRAZIER!!! Hope your recovery goes well, holy moly that's a serious injury!
Glad you're still making videos!
The only thing harder than recovering from a serious ankle injury was making it through quarantine without fresh Dean Bog videos. Glad you're back.
I can tell from this video that your talents are not necessarily dependent on 100% mobility (which I hope you regain). Glad you are progressing and sorry this event happened.
I approve of this comment. 👍😄
