NEW!!! A birthday present escape room game - make your loved one WORK for their present by solving my new game "The Present Thief". You can even purchase a downloadable package that makes set-up even easier. ruclips.net/video/MPwohID35NU/видео.html
This would be great fun in a classroom - you could swap out some of my puzzles for some content-related puzzles to make it more engaging. Best of luck! :)
You need to put a phone in the room and FaceTime that phone from the outside and then it’s like a security camera so if they ask for a hint you can tell them loud and clear through the phone
That's a super smart idea!! I had to be in the room with them for this because I was filming them while they solved it for this video. But if I do it again and I don't care about filming, I'm totally using your idea! Brilliant! :)
I’m wowed! You rock! Your attention to detail, the way you made all the puzzles connect with each other! And creating this for your family? That’s so cool! I definitely take my hat off for you. Thanks for sharing your process, you made it look easy.
I was cleaning out my room, and found some papers and puzzles and legos with codes and symbols on it at first I was confused but them remembered 2 years ago during lockdown I made and escape the room for my family and followed this tutorial I was looking for it and found it. Brings back lot of fun memories I hope to re create this again for the family.
Thanks a ton. I didn't have enough money to get a proper first anniversary present but you helped make a memory that's was better than any thing I could have bought her.
Ha ha - I had fun crafting it all, that's for sure! Better than doing the same cleaning routine I do every single day. But it was fun to play the game too.
Hey you. You are so creative. I could not imagine having young ones during this time. Finding things to do. And being the cheerleader at the same time.
Ha ha, every day is a struggle to get creative! Add home schooling into the mix, and there's a LOT of activity planning going on. But we are making it so far! :)
Thank you so much, this was very helpful! My 14th birthday party is coming up in a few weeks and this year I really wanted to do something fun that me and my friends could actually enjoy. After going to a professionally run escape room for a friends birthday, I decided I would make my own to have my guests try to do. I really didn’t have a lot of ideas though when it came to actual clues and puzzles that I could make on my own. I will be using several of your brilliant ideas for my Sherlock Holmes themed escape room. Thank you for the inspiration!
For those interested in the first puzzle box: if you search youtube for diy puzzle box, you find a lot of videos that make this one or a variation on it. Some do it with wood that they saw to size, some with popsicle sticks and some from cardboard (that's how I ended up at this video: via the recomendations of one of those)
@@DowntheWrabbitHole A small update on my previous comment: I made a mini escape room for my girlfriend, and I did use some of your puzzles: - The word maze - The code with things like [] [. V - The text over 2 pages (and I modified it a bit: It was on 1 page, but one part of the letters was in ballpoint, and the other half became visible when using a blacklight. This was the only puzzle with a hint "When you can't see in darkness, turn on some light") She took 5-10 minutes (like I said, mini) and the reward was a printout of our very first messages, that I then laminated. She loved the puzzles and reward. I definitely will reuse this type of puzzles if I ever make a larger room for friends or something!
Very nice video. The puzzles are not immediately solvable (so they present a challenge) yet they don't take too long (which prevents frustration). Nice work!
This one was particularly geared towards teens or even adults. I purposely made the puzzles a wee bit harder. The Paw Patrol one I did for the kiddos was pretty simplistic. :)
Ha ha, thank you! This was one of my first attempts - I've gotten a LOT better at game design since then. So much that I've opened my own escape room business! Thanks for watching! :)
This was awesome!!!! Thank you for showing the whole process. I have made several treasure hunts with clues, but yet to try an escape room. I was looking for activities for a family reunion, but now I want to build one for the kids ASAP! Thanks again!

What a wonderful idea. Thanks for all the tips. I'm not going to see my family this Christmas ('rona!) and am considering sending them a personalised escape game with their Christmas presents (i.e. they can only open the presents when they solve it). Love how Dad immediately played along with the hot doorlock... :D
What a fun idea! This Christmas is going to be a very different one, I think! If you are looking for a mail-out type of escape room, may I recommend this video of mine where a friend sent me something along the lines of what I believe you are trying to do? ruclips.net/video/9T2GTQG_aw0/видео.html

You are most welcome! I love creating escape rooms and have a few new escape room videos up my sleeve, I just have to find the time to film them! Best of luck! :)
This is really an amazing, step-by-step tutorial for an escape room. I always thought they'd be super complicated to put together, but you explain it so well. When this lockdown is all over, I might make one for a couple girl friends of mine!
lol I would think lockdown is the best time to do it, not after. That's funny. Good to see you're going to give it a try. Did you happen to do it yet? If so, was it as easy as it looks?
This is so cool! I once made small escape rooms for my little sister, but quickly gave up since I hadn't had any ideas after the 2nd room. These gave me some new inspiration, and I'll be sure to make another one during quarantine ^^ Same as you, I struggle with a way to secure the exit. I always used a code that they had to tell me to exit the room, but nothing physical.
I bought some baby-proof cabinet locks that I hope to use in a future escape room video. I will share with you how they worked - fingers crossed! Enjoy your next escape room! :)
I love this. I was thinking that this can also be done using a notebook with pockets. The clues and puzzles can be placed into the pockets. If you do not have a physical space this can be designed and redesigned at will. An escape room is the modern equivalent to the old computer adventure games.
Fantastic. I am making an escape room to entertain us during our small Thanksgiving gathering. Thanks so much for putting this together. It has brought vision to an otherwise scrambled attempt. Happy Holidays.
You are so welcome, and best of luck! I have a whole playlist with at-home escape room tutorials, so feel free to check them out for even more ideas! You got this!!! :)

That’s so fun! I would love to create a wedding escape room package that people could hire me for locally (I run an escape room business). Good luck and congrats on your wedding!
This is a really cool video! It helped me find something to do to keep from going insane. Also the cipher you used is called a pigpen cipher, which is actually one of my personal favorites. Amazing!
Thanks for naming the code - I KNEW someone out there would know it! :) I'm glad this video gave you a little quarantine-fun inspiration! I love making escape rooms, and will probably be making another one again soon.
I have only done two escape rooms we got out of one but failed the other one. It was fun. This tutorial is a great idea for a family little fun. Best wishes and stay safe.
I love going to escape rooms! When this whole quarantine thing is over, I really want to organize a girls night out and go to one where I DON'T know what all the clues are already! ;)
Well, mostly Joey did it. This was too tough of a room for the little ones - this is a room more designed for adults or teens. ;) But good luck keeping my kids out! Ha ha!

Very cool. I like your ideas. I did an a Treasure hunt/Escape room with my kid last Easter. I had locks and puzzles message that you needed IR light to make come out. It was a hit. So much my friend asked me to come up with one for his kids party which was a hit. I used styra foam cups to make a cryptex. I would love to share ideas with you.

We have been out of the loop since the pandemic with the new school normal... first day off... visiting old YT friends. This is great. You did a great job! I love it. Shawn still has a couple more weeks... maybe he will come home to an escape room one day...you have inspired me... =)
RUclips has also taken a bit of a backseat with me during the pandemic too, so definitely don't feel bad! Hard to make videos about exploring and travel when those two activities were basically forbidden. ;) If you do make an escape room for Shawn, I'd love to hear how it goes!
You certainly keep things interesting while you are all locked up. I literally lol'd when you said, "Go check out the door" and he walked up and went "Oooooo". lol.
Thank you so much! I’ve been meaning to create a new escape room video, but life has been so crazy! I’ll try to get one ready for early 2024! I appreciate your comment!
I'll have to check out your previous video on the whole escape room because I really did like this one! Never heard of this concept before until watching this video. I never have done much with pinterest but my wife loves that site!
I love going to real escape room places - they have entire rooms or series of rooms decorated to the max, with super creepy mysteries and sometimes people pop out at you. But for an at-home one, this was pretty fun. I'd love to make a super scary one in the future, one that the kids couldn't even go in! ;)

This was amazing!! Thank you so much!
Very happy to help! I'd love to know how it goes if you decide to make one for yourself! Feel free to come back and tell me all about it! :)
I love pintrest so many awesome ideas on that site! This DIY escape room is such a great idea.
God bless Pinterest!! I had no interior decorating style whatsoever until Pinterest came along. LOL
Thank you so much ! I am definitely going to use some of your ideas to organise the big escape game at my wedding (it’s all the rage where I live).
That’s so fun! I would love to create a wedding escape room package that people could hire me for locally (I run an escape room business). Good luck and congrats on your wedding!
This is brilliant! Thanks for the ideas!
You are most welcome! I’m so happy that you enjoyed the video. I have lots of other escape room videos here too; I’m a little obsessed!
When this whole quarantine thing is over, I really want to organize a girls night out and go to one where I DON'T know what all the clues are already! ;)
Yay they did it!! hehe. Good thing you helped with the clues. The kiddos are so cute!
Well, mostly Joey did it. This was too tough of a room for the little ones - this is a room more designed for adults or teens. ;) But good luck keeping my kids out! Ha ha!
So many great ideas! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I love making escape rooms to the point of obsession. ;) I have a lot more escape room idea videos on my channel if you are looking for additional puzzles.
Hi, Marti. Loved the escapre room for your kids. This is a neat idea.!
This one was more for Joey - it was a touch too hard for the kiddos. They tagged along though, of course! ;)
Great video!!!! me andmy brother are going to makr this tomorrow i am so excited :D
That's awesome! Please, if you can remember, let me know how it goes! I'd love to hear how you put your own twists on it! :)
Awesome! I’m planning one for our school’s after school program. This has some great ideas! Thanks for sharing.
What a fun idea for an after-school program! Best of luck, and I hope I was helpful in some way. :)
That was amazing and very helpful I am planing to make an escape room for a birthday party and I never thought that it could be this easy. Thank you for the tips
Best of luck! They are really so fun to put together and I think I might have more fun watching people solve my rooms than I do playing them. LOL
I just started escape rooms for summer fun for my 9 year old Granddaughter and her friends. This is extremely helpful!
Once you start, you can't stop! I now own an escape room business and it all started with building them for my kids! LOL Good luck and have fun!
I love this! I needed ideas for my first escape room, and you have helped me out SO MUCH! Thank you!!
I'm so glad I could be of service! I have an escape room addiction for sure, so stay posted for more ER videos to come! :)
I’m always up for chatting about escape room puzzles! They are my obsession (alongside travel). I have a few other videos here on my channel with some DIY escape rooms that can hopefully help you with some inspiration too! 🙌🏻
Thank you for doing this video. I’m going to use it for my sons birthday party xx
Oh awesome! Best of luck - I'm so happy that the video could help you. I have lots more escape room videos on my channel too, if you need further inspiration. :)
Love thiss!! Thank you for this tutorial!!! You are so creative!! Hope to see more videos like this!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I just published a Christmas morning escape room video! Feel free to check it out: ruclips.net/video/5vzOdv_4MII/видео.html
This. Is. Wonderful!!!
I'm so happy you enjoyed it! My whole goal in making this video was to help people create their own fun at home! :)
This was great!! Love your creativity!! Take care!
It was a fun way to spend the day for everyone! You really can't go wrong with an at-home escape room! ;)
Such a cool idea Marti :) the puzzle box is cute. Great idea for these times to keep everyone engaged :) great puzzle ideas
I would love to have an entire collection of puzzle boxes. They are so fun and sometimes very useful! :)
You are a creative genius!!!
Ha ha, I don't know about that. But I do love designing escape rooms! Thanks so much for watching!

Thumbs up
Well, if you get bored, give it a shot! And then let me know how it goes - I'd love to hear about it! :)
Very cool. I have to set this up for this Sunday. With my busy schedule I hope I can pull it off but great ideas
Best of luck! You can do it!!

We had a good time! Let me know if you decide to try any of these puzzles and make your own escape room! I'd love to see how it all turns out! :)
This is awesome! Thank you for taking the time to make this video and post it!
You are most welcome and I’m so happy that you enjoyed the video. 😃
You certainly keep things interesting while you are all locked up. I literally lol'd when you said, "Go check out the door" and he walked up and went "Oooooo". lol.
Ha ha - that made me laugh too. Ooooh, a normal, white door. He's precious. ;)
So fun! Thanks for the video!
I'm so happy that you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! :)
This is a great idea for those needing to fill some time!
I have the time to get creative, so why not use it? ;) We all love a good escape room around here!
Wow! This is so cool! You are very creative ❤
Thank you so much! I’ve been meaning to create a new escape room video, but life has been so crazy! I’ll try to get one ready for early 2024! I appreciate your comment!
Thank you very much for helping me understand escape rooms. Will be very useful and I will share with friends.
Donald
I hope you get a chance to try it out! They truly are very satisfying and fun to make. :)
I'd love to make a super scary one in the future, one that the kids couldn't even go in! ;)
The little boy's reaction to his dad touching the magnetic lock is hysterical
Ha ha! He really got into the whole scenario!
Great to hear the step by step guide to this escape room 👍 214 - This is definitely a time for creativity and to find ways to stay entertained. Stay safe and take care! Mary 💕💕💕
They are super fun to put together. If I can help anyone else out there create an exciting at-home event for their loved ones, then I'm happy! :)
Such a good fun easy idea.... thanks for sharing, very well put together 👍
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Best of luck putting your own together. :)
Thank you for the wonderful ideas.
You are most welcome! I'm so happy that you enjoyed them. I have a few other escape room guide videos on my channel too, in case you need even more ideas. ;)
I came from mistermangobutt...
... I see he also watch this
Are you a big escape room fan? :) I definitely am, can't wait to go to a professional one once this quarantine business is all said and done.
@@DowntheWrabbitHole I totally am. Your videos are awesome. I hope you have a great time there. 😊
Thank you! Because of you I checked out mistermangobutt and watched his escape room video! :) Thank you!
Very good tutorial, looks very interesting and entertaining.
My hope is that it can help someone out there who desperately needs something fun to do during quarantine time! ;)
I’m making an escape for my friends birthday. Thank you so much for this, it was very helpful👍🏼👍🏼
You are an awesome friend!! I'd love to hear how it goes - feel free to come back and give me an update! :)

I'm so glad it was helpful! :)
absolutely amazing
I'm so happy that you enjoyed it! Escape rooms are so much fun!
I loved this idea, trying it at home right now with similar things! By the way, the name of the code for the puzzle is pigpen which I am actually very good at
I hope your escape room went smoothly and that everyone had a ton of fun! If my video helped in any way, I'm super pumped about that! :)
This is brilliant, i'm very impressed! Lots of fun too. Thanks for sharing this great idea 💕☺💕 Hope you have a good weekend my friend 🤗💕
It was fun to change things up, as our daily routine can get a little monotonous. I had a good time making the room, everyone else had fun playing it! :)
