Jon, are you going to fish matches again? You’re too good an angler to be missing from the circuit.

Hello Jon, mental awareness & time Jon, just take your time & don't be pressured into a hasty decision.
You'll know when the time is right for you to getting back on the bigger match circuit.
Your a top angler don't be to hard on yourself just enjoy fishing whatever path you choose.

Thanks again, Jon, for this lovely video showing the essence of fishing, being there. Sometimes the conversation is better with the slugs, snails, caterpillars and the cuckoos. And there is a fine line between fishing and sitting on a stool looking like a plonker. You smashed the former.

HI Jon, the video brings back memories of times gone by of many hours spent on the Lanky canal, and apart from a few matches in Winter i loved every minute of it,dont go now too many boats and my hands can no longer cope with the fine lines and small hooks, still get out often but it almost all commercials, also many places on the canal are inaccessible if you use a trolley,thanks for the memories,enjoyed the video . best wishes Ernie

These sort of memories never fade ,I’m thinking back to when I was 10 and used to sneak down to our local disused cut to fish with a couple of mates ,tin of worms my grandads 9ft cane and split cane rod centrepin reel the perch were enormous best we had was 1.5lb .im 73 now

Good afternoon Jon, thank you for this lovely video.
It brings back memories of when me and my mates used to cycle five miles to the local cut at Rodley.
We had contests to see who could catch the most Gudgeon on the same magget. Sometimes we used to keep a Gudgeon or two and sneak into an old mill dam,we knew it was full of giant Perch.
Whatever you do Jon, just do what makes you happy.

Love your canal ventures jon , some nice fish too , i remember a national there 30 years ago , it was a big day out and we were second , my one and only medal . Not many anglers now sadly . You had no roach or gudgeon so it shows how things change . Good fish are there and i know you will show us at a later date . As you put it an adventure in the sticks and why not , even a cuckoo , ive not heard one for years , another great video as always .

The longer you leave getting back on the circuit the harder it will get. We all come across idiots who engage their mouths before their brains. They are just jealous of your achievements over the years and forget they could and will make the same mistakes themselves.
Anyway, describing yourself as a plonker sitting on a little stool fishing put a smile on my face, as this the description given to a garden gnome, but you are neither. What a plessure though to see someone going back to basics. I made a comment on another channel about the commercialism of fishing today. I found you showing us the catapillars, slugs and snails was interesting despite their unpleasantness. Keep on with your excellent videos. Not a bad bag though mate.

Lovely stuff Jon, takes me back to being a teenager and cycling about with just the top of my old canal MatchBox on a backrack on the bike and everything massively scaled down to get a fishing fix in short sessions between work and college. A tench from a club lake or a few skimmers from the river made it all worthwhile, but the peace and quiet of a very early start or two hours late evening did wonders for the soul too.

Enjoyable video, on the Llangollen canal which I fish this would have been a good weight, and would have had to put up with two hundred boats coming through my swim at breakneck speed, the best bit was hearing the Cuckoo, an increasingly rare sound nowadays and like you Jon, brings back happy memories of my childhood.

The slugs and snails 🐌 are out in force 😅 simple and fun fishing, would love to see you catching some slabs on the basin ❤ does pellets work on your canal? I can single out the Tench and Bream on pellets on my canal.

Love the videos look forward to seeing your posts. I match fish myself but never do any good. Your recent posts reminded me of what fishing is all about. Just returned from a total blank on the Pocklington canal but such a beautiful setting. Funnily enough there is always a cuckoo on the far bank and always starts to call when I arrive. I think it's trying to tell me something
