Gotta Say......Alabama A&M don't do a lot of CRANKN' and cheating, just BLOW. I can respect that, they have a nice sound. But The "100", like Jay Z say...."is just different" .

Enjoyed this. AAMU, I think has done a great job maximizing what they have. Their arrangements are suited to their abilities and size. Stay true to who you are. Don’t try and compete with a FAMU. I am proud of AAMU’s band performance. I am equally proud of FAMU’s band performance. Everyone knows that FAMU has the best band performance of all HBCU bands. We are a house divided between the two bands. Shout out to both bands with love.❤❤. They are doing a great work!!!
I'm a former marching 100 rattler, and I have to say I really enjoyed AAMU performance, they were really clean, and balanced played with a lot musicianship. Very well done kudos to them.
These two bands should play against one another more often. Hopefully A&M travels to there next time. I don’t know that they’ve played against one another, ever. Alabama A&M sounds amazing! Well tuned . FAMU sounds like the FAMU we grew up with in the 80’s and 90’s. Outcome: This feels like a tie battle to me. I can’t say one band was better than the other. I like how A&M is half the size of FAMU and similar in sound. I like how FAMU traveled to A&M.
They have played against each other, but that has been 50+ years ago. Both schools were members of the SIAC conference. However, they didn't meet in the 2000's, 90's or 80's. I think the 70's were the last time these bands have met.
This was a great musical 5th. I don't know what I was hearing at that Alcorn vs SU game. This being loud and not sounding good is embarrassing. Great job, FAMU and AA&MU.

Exactly!!! They have that perfect blend, or balance. The other band could have a more dimensional sound with additional woodwinds. They’re a little brassy as is.
The more I listen to this battle, the more I love AAMU. The arrangements are soulful, and they don’t overblow. The execution got off at times, but they and the Divas 😍 are an excellent, respectable representation of HBCU and SWAC band culture. I’m a #FAMUbaby #MorehouseMan

A&M had a souldul band and sound. Theyre not going to wow you with their selections. Theyre a vand that will sneak one in every now and then, but you should always come out on top. Song selection is key
No. However, it's been almost 50 years since these two bands have met on the grid iron, or played in a football against each other. They didn't play each other in the 2000's, 90's, 80's. The last time I think A&M went to Tallahassee was in the 70's, and A&M made a rocket on the field, with smoke emitting from the end. The smoke billowed in the stands, which offended many spectators. It was said by Dr. Foster and other band staff, "Don't bring that mess down here anymore." This was told by my Dad, of which he is a retired band director.
Nice job AAMU. I haven't heard much good sound from a lot of SWAC bands, but I appreciated your musicality and versatility. Your only error was coming down to the field....I would have stayed as far away from "Mike Tyson" as possible. FAMU, the standard. Amazing performance and still the heavy weight undefeated champ. 🏆 🥊
Folks been comparing each decade of the 100 for the longest… I think the fundamentals will remain the same. I recall old heads telling us (96-00) how the “old school” 100 would demolish us.
the only reason they came on the field was because they were leaving the 5th when they came out of the stands. But, the students begged and begged the director could they stay and play against FAMU, so the director agreed, and that's why they lined up on the field.
Yeah they should have stayed in the stands, that way the sound wouldn't have been muffled by all the spectators standing in between, or at least moved closer to FAMUs side

I am a die hard FAMU baby (family 4 generations with 36 graduates). AAMU had grooving soul, well-arranged selections. I love the way they do not huff and puff over blowing which is sadly too defining of the SWAC band culture. Great job AAMU. It’s appreciated😊

I know there are female on campus who would have no problem stepping up to form a dance team. FAMU's band is the odd band out, until they comply with a female dance team. Make it happen please!!!
