The actual GP Laureato also has the "GP" at the 12 in place of an indicie so they were doing their best to homage (read:copy) the original the best they could. Like the ix dao IWC homage they did a very nice job with this one also. I've always really liked the original and now there is an option to get that look for 55x *LESS* and you don't have to worry so much about scratching up a 5 figure watch.
yeah, I know....I don't like that Either....lol
This is why I occasionaly use Ali x. You can try on a certain model of watch in the AD as many times as you like, but nothing beats living with it for a week or six to see if you really do get along with it. I've had the Laureato on the wrist a few times and on my bucket list for ages. Now is the chance for me to throw a decent meal out for two on a Clomage to find out if I like it enough to shell out over 12k gbp. Of course it could also land in the ' to hell with it I will stick with the clomage 'dept ha ha.
I wonder if GP will come after them like IWC did with IXDAO. Anyways I wear my homages & clomages with pride and satisfaction.
@@96kyh This has crossed my mind too, especially if Bettimer remove that awful name off the dial and just used the logo at 12. Time will tell I guess.
@@96kyh I hope not!
Logo is cool but the name is horrific. I guarantee the name alone cost them a lot of sales.
absolutely.
maybe I'm easy to please...but I don't see this being any worse than "Steeldive" or "Addiesdive" or "Berny" or "Pagani design" as long as I pronounce it how I was in the review, it sounds like any other random brand name like Baltic or Baltany.
@@EscapeWheel those are all bad as well. SM and baltany are the only ones
Maybe , just maybe , they will release a logo only version. A fair few brands on Ali are going down this route just lately. Or better still a sterile dial.
@@keithburford8589 agreed
An yet, people complain about the watch name orient……
Which is a very good company name for a japanese watch company. One of the best.
Thanks for the review of this. The OG has been a grail for Me for a long time. I'm definitely going to be getting this.
you are welcome...hope the review was helpful.
I’m wearing my IXDAO Engineer today - thanks for your review of that and of this one. Since I have the IWC copy I’m not really a candidate for this one, but I did gain a new term for my watch spreadsheet: screwed in crown vs screwed down. I never came up with a good way to distinguish them on my own.
Thanks for this review Steven. Looks better than I expected with that domed crystal. Was not sure about the size as I have small wrist so I was glad that you held it next to the Ixdao. I love that one and seeing this next to the ixdao think It might work actually. Just ordered it 😊
Looks great on video, thanks for taking the risk for all of us who wasnt sure of the new brand ✌️
Great reviews as always! ✌️
Very nice. I even like the name and logo. Thanks for showing us the watch!
Me too! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful watch
That is gorgeous dial
This has better finishing than my PRX. Crazy
Ah, the wonderful world of Chinese watches...sacrifice a little originality but you get a nicer watch for the money.
I like the watch and i like the logo
It would be so nice for AE brands to fix their ridiculous branding 🤷♂️
Nice looking watch 👍👍👍
The logo is the combination of a B & T. Bet Timer
They need to change company name and use of two indexes at 12 o'clock instead of a logo. Also removing the date display would make the dial very symmetrical
My IxDao bracelet, while really nice, has kinda sharp edges on the bottom. Don’t usually feel it much except every now and then.
Thx for the review. Like it, but the name is a no go. Also, I don't see the announced AR coating, or it's very bad then.
AR coating is blue, it's hard to miss IRL but it's there for sure. the single dome crystal shows reflections more than a flat or double dome crystal would. its still not a bad crystal, but it could have been a lot nicer with just a flat crystal
Nice watch, I wish they made it thinner though...
Make this into a 37mm size and they will increase their market for their new brand and watch
U gunna review the new Sharkmaster V2 from watchdives? Looks amazing :)
sigh.....yes...lol. Should be arriving today actually. may do an unboxing if it gets here early enough. also grabbed the red bezel VH31 BB54 they are now selling.
@@EscapeWheel 😂😂😂 ill stay tuned :)
The machining on the top surface of the lugs looks a bit coarse. 38mm and batons at 12 would be an improvement. I'm not convinced by the bracelet. It looks to be on a far lower level of finishing to the IXDAO.
I wouldn't say far lower, but not quiiiit as nice. The brushing coarseness is a design decision. As long as it's even and consistent (which it is) I'm fine with the decision.
If you had the chance to choose between two wristwatches, which would you choose? ixdao or bettimer?
Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but I've been grabbing the Bettimer more as of late. I just like the way it wears, and it's just a slightly cleaner design.
That, my friend, is a rebadged replica. The line needs to be drawn somewhere on the word homage.
I've been using the word "Clomage" recently. it's really close to the real thing for sure. the size is one major difference, though.
Does your channel focus mostly on Homage watches? I'm not trolling, I'm asking because I'm studying some of the "homage" brands to build a list of who actually owns and produces the individual brands like the AliExpress watches.
yes, I would say so. I don't do it on purpose, I just really like these low-cost options from China and those generally homage/clone other watches.
I'm happy to discuss offline this topic...but generally, most brands don't have their own machine shops and just outsource to outside companies for manufacturing.
"mushroom brands" like Blieger, corgeut, parnis, steeldive, addiesdive etc have the watches fully built in another factory and sent to them for final inspection, packaging, and distribution.
while other brands like San Martin, Ixdao, Cronos etc, get individual parts shipped in and then they handle final assembly, testing, inspection, packaging, and distribution...this allows them great Quality control over the end product.
outside of that info, I really have no clue.
you can get the seller info from their official stores on aliexpress, get the business license, address, and start dates.
@@EscapeWheelInterested in the other brands you know of that assemble their own watches from sourced parts?
The logo is well done, xlose to the GP logo. I have a suspicion they first designed the logo then looked at what name would go with B and T 🤣🤣 I dont mind the name at all
My dady bought one #mamacoo and he loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when he went out with it.
Man, its a shame my wrist is 6.5". Absolutely no way i could pull this off, and not sure it would make sense as a clomage to release a 36mm model like id probably need
The name aside, the date window not being at the 6 position bothers me more than anything. At least its color matched to the dial.
Also, another chinese brand making integrated homages with NO halflinks....it seems only IXDAO understands and supplies these properly.
Mentioned in the bracelet section, half links are being produced now. Maybe a few weeks out would be my guess
Beautiful homage. Unfortunately that name makes it unwearable.
totally unwearable...lol
@@EscapeWheelthe beauty and elegance of this homage out weighs the single con of the name. Very much wearable and will be added to my buy list.
Hopefully they will ditch the printed name and just use the logo
At first glance, that name looks like Bettaware! That’s a no-no for me lol!
first😂
It’s on a watch so pronouncing it “timer” just makes sense.
but it's one word...english doesn't work that way. bet-timer is just wrong (phonetically)
It looks like a fine watch but it really does nothing for me. To 6 looks like every other stainless steel bracelet watch
Horrible name😮
Chinese are so bad at branding it almost seems surreal or a comedy show. They are far beyond “bad”.
