I have had a bunch of these from my almost 1 yr old hens. They usually have a tiny yolk but it's clear. I actually got a huge egg I thought was a double yolker but actually was one of the fairy eggs inside a regular egg! I cracked it expecting to see 2 yolks and that popped out! Talk about shock!
I have had a lot of them we have saved them in the kitchen and use them to teach others that it's ok if there small. I have 2 that we have had for years... they are smaller than a quarter that's why we still have them. They are neat
Now how cute is that! I had no clue that could happen and I'm loving it! I am trying my best to get started with chickens. It's one of my goals, so I say get started with"my chickens". Something always comes up and I'm left waiting for my chickens. & so I keep praying and I know my chickens are coming home. Lol, well enough about that. I love watching and learning from your videos. I have learned a lot from them and I thank you. I am grateful to the knowledge you've given me 😊
oh my goodness, I just had this happen about 2 weeks ago and was wondering what is going on here? every time I have a question it's so funny how you post a video with the answer! Thank you Patera! ;o)
The first eggs we got from our leghorns were little bity. I saved the first on for a long time and then the kids begged me to fry the other little ones for them!
I have had my girls for about 10 months now and I got one of these the other day. They are so cute. We haven't cracked it yet but it will be perfect size for our 5 yr old daughter. She thought it was so cute.
Most of my girls started laying in September. Not sure if they all were but I don't think so I just had one of these show up. I called my mom and said "It is little and ROUND!!' Never seen one obviously but so glad that you did the video. Now I don't have to worry about it.
I believe Tinkerbell! I believe! Too cute. I'm guessing it would be very unwise to try and let one of those hatch out, the chick would be full sized and the egg not large enough to accommodate it! I'm sure it has stunned many a new chicken owner to find one of these of a morning! Lol. Thanks for sharing!
I have had one also. I think it was the very last egg the hen laid. It did not have a yoke. I thought you could make wishes on them because they are so rare. My wish didn't come true, YET. Thanks for sharing this video.
I used to check the hens nest in the dark with out a flashlight when i was a kid. Got a hold of one of those no shell eggs and about messed myself thinking it was a snake. To this day i will pick the hen up off the nest and use a flashlight.
So you got fairies running around there are they related to the tooth fairy I seen that egg had a speck in it usually is A coin or two please let me know if that has happened God bless thanks for sharing I enjoyed this
I learn so much from you Patara Thank you. That yolk had a pretty significant speck on it (I cleaned the screen of my tablet twice thinking it was me lol) Can you please tell me what that speck is? You sometimes find them in ordinary eggs and they always make me a bit nervous.
It's just a blood spot. Perfectly normal. In fact, that's a fresh egg. An old egg will absorb the blood spot so you know you have a very fresh egg. They are from a simple pop of a blood vessel usually. No big deal. You can scoop it out or scramble it in.
I love finding these in the next box. This year we had one while company was here this Christmas and the kids freaked out at seeing it. I forget that some people don't see the funny things nature does. My hens are not just starting out but I think in the catching of the meat birds and city kids being city kids they got the chasing the laying hens and that caused the tiny egg. Also you will find blood inside of regular sized eggs. Its nto a baby chick so much as it was a hen who was running or something during the egg making process and caused a bloody egg. Thanks for sharing!!!
what are the little dark spots. in new egg layers after hen gets little older i dont see in eggs any more. i also got little egg it was normal looking just a mini size
I have a duck that has laid 8 fairy eggs in the past 10 days! One normal sized egg and skipped a day. Another of my ducks got attacked by a dog which I think caused the stress the glitched her system but I thought it would be resolved by now. Any thoughts?
When I had my chickens (Rhode Island Reds & black/white speckleds, in the late 90's), one of my first eggs was a Fairy egg. It was ALL yoke, and barely had a shell at all. Don't remember what we did with it, but I don't think we ate it.
I have never seen this before. My wife has shown me a number of what she calls a double yoke eggs though. They look normal size, maybe a little bit larger.
Just wondering, is the black speck from the rooster? If so, has anyone ever tried to hatch a fairy egg? If successful, did the chick grow to be normally sized?

We haven't had any of those yet. They are adorable!
I've never heard the term "fairy egg", that's so much nicer than what we call them....which is an "egg fart".
I've actually seen them smaller too! Their so cute!!! Have a good night!!!
I have had a lot of them we have saved them in the kitchen and use them to teach others that it's ok if there small. I have 2 that we have had for years... they are smaller than a quarter that's why we still have them. They are neat

ADORABLE!!! Didn't get any of these with my chickies. I have never heard of such. Neat.
That is the coolest thing I have seen in a while.
I just got my first one today! I have never seen them before in the five years of chickens!!!
The first eggs we got from our leghorns were little bity. I saved the first on for a long time and then the kids begged me to fry the other little ones for them!

Ya learn something new everyday😀
does the likely hood of a fairy egg increase/decrease depending on breed?
because I got a different breed this time, and I got a fairy egg.
My big question is if it’s possible for one of these eggs to develop and hatch
Even if artificially fertilized
Just wondering, is the black speck from the rooster? If so, has anyone ever tried to hatch a fairy egg? If successful, did the chick grow to be normally sized?
how would you introduce roosters to a flock
Where can I get a fairy egg??
haha I learned something! :D hooray
It could have been hatched. Not many of them have a full yolk like that one. Might have been a bantam for you.
The fart egg lmao!!🐓🐓
Cheryl cummings huh?
NalaLana123 look it up... google I had some FART EGGS from my hens!! 👍🏼
Puberty and Menopause eggs?? LOL I have heard of those but, had never seen one.
could a fairy egg with a yolk be fertilized?
Tabitha Haas yes but the chick would die
So if the egg is fertilized can it develop into a chick?? I know, dumb question, my papa had chickens but I never heard of a "fairy egg" before
my chicken layed one once
we threw it away because we were not sure what to do. I have had chickens since I was little, first fairy egg though.
Can you hatch them!?
Stephanie Unique Bow-tique doubtful it if doesn't have a yolk it can't support a chick
Thanks for the info. They are so Cute 💞!
JO JO IN VT 💕😄☃
pullet surprise :)
Its weird i got the idea in a dream that these exsisted 😕
Have you ever had a fairy egg actually hatch?
We always called them pullet eggs, why do we have to reinvent the English language? Smh
Why do you have to be a jerk? smh
first view
Fart egg lol
I just got my first every fairy egg!! from my americana!! Like a little blue marble!!! I would not have known what it was without you!!
