Out of all of the fake out deaths the recent nya death really messed up the storyline for crystallized. Technically you lose nya, and then like 3 episodes after, you get her back; which loses the feeling to connect with the grief of the ninjas. If she was missing for the whole season it would’ve helped develop the plot of crystallized because there’s more episodes for it to go into other things and maybe at the end nya helps them fight the overload, AND THEN the next season she can get revived. I was so disappointed with how Zane was written in Crystallized. Instead of another fakeout death and comic relief we could of Zane actually acknowledging the trauma/guilt he went through in the Never Realm but no using him as the punching bag is always the easiest but laziest option now.

I've gotta say. The overlord was one of the ninjas most persistent villains. Like the overlord was always lurking in the shadows. And he had three or four fakeout deaths.
I think the reason the writers choose Zane to die so much is because he has so many benefits ranging from being able to run way longer than any other of the Ninjas and having way more knowledge on battle and strategies. It would simply ruin the character if he was that OP for both of the shows.

1. Samukai DID die. That's why his soul inhabited the animatronic in Day of the Departed 2. Dr. Julian DID die in the flashback. Samukai just revived him, and kept him alive until he eventually died in-between Seasons 2 and 3. 3. Zane's death from Season 3 did count as a death. Sure, his consciousness survived and built a new body, but his sacrifice costed him his original body, which was destroyed, meaning he did technically die

I'm not sure about Zane, but I think the Overlord should have been destroyed for good in Rebooted. They could have pulled it off by making the Golden Master's attack longer and more impactful. They also could have made a compelling story with Zane shifting the balance completely to light by destroying the Overlord. From there, the ninja would face their future enemies fearing that one of them will become the next ultimate evil, or we could see what bad would come from the balance being completely in light's favor, stressing that a little darkness to even out light is necessary for the world's well-being. I think that would've been a cool story to explore for ninjago following Rebooted
Agreed like with the overlord’s return, it should have been a season a little bit more focused on him and his past imo but instead they just shoved him to the side and just tried to balance out the whole season through literally every character!
the way they just brought the overlord back in crystalized and seemingly killed him off again feels very repetitive, what's the point of destroying him if he can always come back again?
@celestial jingwei I feel you on that one. I get that he's the ultimate incarnation of evil and that he was one of Ninjago's only decent villains, but it kinda shows how lazy the shows writing got in the later seasons. Rather than try to build a new villain up to be the next overlord they just keep reusing the same one. It effectively kills any tension and stakes with him. I really wish they'd just left him destroyed after Rebooted
@@FinalityFulcrum87 i feel like they couldn't come up with better villains and instead just rounded up all the ones that are still alive, which to be honest except for pythor are a little subpar. harumi was unnecessary, the overlord was just season 2 and 3 all over again and the crystal council felt weak as antagonists. basically this season trampled all over my expectations for ninjago's final season
The fact that most of the "deaths" in more recent seasons are fake outs is just sad. I haven't watched the second half of crystalized but I'm not surprised that there are 3 fake outs in there
@@toasted_sandwich well that’s the point They were emotional, until they revealed that nothing had any consequences and it was all fake ,which lowers the *stakes* by a TON . It doesn’t make any sense And it would’ve been a Great ending to Pixal’s character if she would’ve actually sacrificed herself for Zane, yet that didn’t happen .
@@MrChampionIsCringeYa or it could have been full circle if she maybe gave him back the half of his heart, that would have made the stakes break the roof!
In all fairness, fakeout deaths also show character evolution. How did Zane react after regaining his memories of Dr. Julien? How did each of Ninja move on after Zane's sacrifice in Rebooted? How was Lloyd dealing with Garmadon's passing at the end of Tournament, compared to the beginning and end of Possession? More importantly, how have characters reacted when they didn't win, like in Legacy of the Green Ninja: Return of the Overlord?
In my opinion Dr. Julien is the best character of all he gives love to those who don’t have anything and doesn’t ask for anything in return and even though Zane is a robot Dr. Julien loved him as his own son. It honestly brings me to tears to see his fake death and now knowing he’s dead

The only fake out deaths i believed that wouldve been good was everyone in S6 since it would be deverstating for the villain like Nadhakan to win. As he already did "kill" or tortured to wish themselves away every other ninja apart from Jay. And he forced Nya to marry him. So a villain like that and imagine ending the season with her death and Nadhhakan dying as well would've been so good as we see everyone completely different
Ok, Zane obviously has the most, but Nya has the most memorable ones. The end of Skybound, Prime Empire, when the monastary blows up, the end of Seabound in a sense, etc
Zane’s death in S3 is the only good death Zane had, because there was a form of consequence (him losing his original body). I enjoy Season 8 but that whole thing where he got beaten to a Pulp by Mr. E was so pointless, especially considering the scrapped Echo Zane plot point never came to fruition. The reason for preserving the original hands is probably that the skeletons can be in better and more diverse positions. Interestingly, although all the other skeletons in the show have the same design as the real LEGO skeletons, the Fangpyre skeleton in "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" and Anacondrai skeletons in "Never Trust a Snake" look like real skeletons, although in "Green and Gold" it turns out that Serpentine has the same skeletons as humans. 2.
I included resurrections, also it was a statue not an animatronic
@@toasted_sandwich that's what I meant
well it’s still a fake out tho. If they come back or get revied it’s a fake out
In fact what actually happened with Zane is that Ronin found his pieces and repaired him so to speak and took him to Chen, appears in the Shadow of ronin video game that is semicanon because they mention the events in season 5
Zane rebuilds himself
gotta love how most villain deaths they turn good in the last second and they’re like “goodbye.. [character]..” and then it’s all sad and stuff
_Morro_ be like
Then there's the skeletons that are just like "freak you, we hate snakes" and that is their whole arc
Samukai died for real though. He wasn't sent to the departed realm, but the cursed realm is also a form of afterlife
no he was sent to the Departed Realm, all of the dotd came from the departed realm
@@Broooooooo547 oh right, he went from the cursed realm TO the departed realm. Clouds is the one who was sent to the cursed realm
That just proves Samukai is super dead
@@Steamlazer nope, if someone dies he goes straight up to the departed realm. Inhabitants of the cursed realm were cursed or teleported into the cursed world. And when the cursed realm fell, it's inhabitants like Morro, Chen etc. went to the departed realm
@@Broooooooo547 wait, I was getting the cursed realm and the underworld mixed up, my bad
Clouse is in the underworld, and Samukai went FROM the underworld to the departed realm
I think that's correct
@@Steamlazer yes
The fact that this video is 18 MINUTES long pleases me way too much
Also I feel like Prime Empire was done with the purpose of making them go through more deaths, no?
@celestial jingwei agree 100%. Also unrelated note, but love the pfp
The fact that most of the "deaths" in more recent seasons are fake outs is just sad. I haven't watched the second half of crystalized but I'm not surprised that there are 3 fake outs in there
I consider you lucky you haven't watched the second half given how underwhelming it is
This video literally shows that the original seasons had more fakeouts than the ones after March of the Oni. What are you talking about?
Ngl some fakeout deaths were not bad,but some def.were, including the ones in Crystalized
the fakeout deaths in crystalized got me retracting tears
@@toasted_sandwich well that’s the point
They were emotional, until they revealed that nothing had any consequences and it was all fake ,which lowers the *stakes* by a TON .
And none of them made any sense or had any substance linked to them .
For example ,Zane’s fakeout death
How did Zane wake up?Why did Zane Wake up?
It doesn’t make any sense
And it would’ve been a Great ending to Pixal’s character if she would’ve actually sacrificed herself for Zane, yet that didn’t happen .
@@MrChampionIsCringeYa or it could have been full circle if she maybe gave him back the half of his heart, that would have made the stakes break the roof!
@@Ninpressions exactly
@@MrChampionIsCringe Like if they left the season off with something like that happening then it would have been even crazier too!
i love how three out of the five images in the thumbnail are just zane
"Basically every death ever"
bro i swear zane is that one character that always dies every season
He at least gets beat up or dies once or twice every season
Samokai’s death was real, and Zane’s dad technically was too.
I included deaths of people who actually died but were brought back in later episodes
@@toasted_sandwich ohh thats why you put harumi There but she got back after four seasons or three because in the story how she got back she goes to That king i forgot his name from season 13 but she got back in season 16 too
@@Ruben99677 his name is the crystal king
@@toasted_sandwich thats not what a fakeout death is though, resurrection and a fakeout death is different. samukai came back for like what, ONE special? ONE flashback about dr julien? while zane being "crushed" in the fight before going to ninjago city to fight the great devourer is. your title is inaccurate because some of these characters did genuinely die and were not planned to come back.
also you cannot tell me that the second example you have is actually genuine because that was A DREAM THAT ZANE HAD. they make it so clear in the episode that even i as a dumb 6 year old could tell that even if garmadon fell down that wasnt ACTUAL GARMADON

It hit me like a bus
This guy didn't include Zane's fake death in forbidden spinjitzu everybody thought he died because of aspheera sending him to the never realm
I always thought there was so many scenes where they just about fall to death and then someone catches them and says “got you”
Ik zane has been dying too much but I was ok with the last one, only because we got Pixal's heartfelt goodbye. "I do not know if there is anything after this life for beings such as you or I, but if there is... I will find you there. Goodbye my Zane." 😭Love them so much. Also the sound of happiness she made when he woke up was so pure and genuine.
Seeing Garmadon with two arms is just plain weird sight
And seeing Zane a normal "human" again is just as weird dang
Guys remember the time when The Great Devourer was the biggest threat? Heh
I feel like the first few are acceptable, but now its just... expected. We know any major character who dies will come back
That’s what they want you to think, than they kill a character for an entire season
The end of Skybound, Prime Empire, when the monastary blows up, the end of Seabound in a sense, etc
the end of seabound isn't a fakeout
@@toasted_sandwich yeah but she doesn't technically DIE per se. I honestly don't know how to count it
You forgot where Lloyd was freaking out about his father being banished to the cursed realm.
Zane is like ACTUALLY bullied by writers and can’t stay alive for 3 seasons
I love how many times there was a deep and significant death but the character returns because yes
52 fakeout deaths thats one death each week for a year! idk why I put an exclamation mark lol
That scene just left me confused after watching it if I’m being honest
I hate how Ninjago thinks fakeout deaths are “emotional”
I hate how most of them actually are, in fact, emotional
Honestly they used to be because you'd think they were actually real deaths, but unfortunately nowadays you can pretty much see it coming that the character Will be fine
@@PokemonPrince_ no joke tho…Zane’s 3528468th fake out death in season 16 lowkey made me kinda sad…
(But then again, Pixal kind of carried that whole scene)
@@gigikju9934 his fakeout death revived the ice emperor
8:32 Dang it Zane now we have to replace those broken parts with new ones.
Nah, Crystallized has so many problems but the ludicrous amount of fakeout deaths absolutely DESTROY any semblance of tension the season could have had.
The absolute "fake death" winner should be the monastery, it has comeback more times than william afton
There are so many at one point I was like: oh zane died again? Ok sure...he'll be back in a few episodes
You forgot one more fakeout death. Pythor in s3 when he became small and "was eaten " by a bird
he was just chased offscreen
Watch Season 4, Pythor was in Jail
@@Ali_2400in s3,when he turned small he got chased by a falcon and maybe some people might fought like he got eaten by him. But ye,in s4 he turned out to be in jail. Probably originally he was supposed to die in s3 or something but the creators returned him so ye that's kinda a fakeout death

The Preeminent (formerly; resurrected accidentally by P.I.X.A.L. and Wu, now departed once more)
Hazza D'ur (formerly; resurrected by the Skull of Hazza D'ur, now departed once more) Realms of the deceased
In the Sixteen Realms parallel to Ninjago, there were a total of three known realms for the dead to continue to dwell after their passing. Of the three, the Departed Realm seems to be where the dead are naturally meant to go, as when a being who was sent to the other two is destroyed, their spirit will move on to the Departed Realm.
Departed Realm (possibly for all denizens of all Realms)[4]
Cursed Realm (for those whose souls are cursed; now part of the Departed Realm)[5]
Underworld (for fallen warriors who were disgraced in battle, and don't accept or realize their passing) Returning to life
Death can also be thwarted, but the ways that this can be accomplished are generally considered immoral, as it goes against the natural order of the world. Likewise, the consequences of such methods can prove too dire or even worse than death itself. These are some ways that have been used to defy death:
Resurrection with the help of Higher Powers (resurrection by the forces of someone who has incredible power: First Spinjitzu Master or The Overlord)
Resurrectea (temporary postponement of death, requires the deceased individual's body to be present to ingest it)
Rift of Return (requires powerful magic from the Yin-Yang Eclipse to sustain; once every 3,721 years)
The power of the Yin Blade (places victim into a state of ghost-like limbo; destroyed)
Being wished into the body of another living being by a Djinn King (possession of another person)
Killing one's murderer (or one closely associated with the circumstances that caused their death) with a Departed Blade
Escaping from the Cursed Realm or Underworld (escapee is left in an undead state of being, either skeletal or cursed; Cursed Realm destroyed)
Resurrection by the Mega Weapon (massive energy toll on user required; destroyed)
Reversing time on the corpse of the deceased (can be negated by Tomorrow's Tea)
Escape from the Departed Realm (requires a massive amount of catalyzed magic to sustain indefinitely)
Imprisonment in the Djinn Blade (indefinite, unconscious limbo for all eternity)
Oni Masks (when they are united; exclusive to those with Oni blood; two masks destroyed)
Necromancy
Skull of Hazza D'ur (can resurrect skeletons that obey their necromancer; destroyed)
Within the Prime Empire video game world
Respawning (only three times) Trivia
Although no skeletons have been released since 2015 that have arms with ball and socket joints which allowed them to move all the way out to the side and all the way around, all skeletons in Ninjago have hands made this way, except the Skulkin and Re-Awakened, who use a newer version of the hands.
The Ninjago characters who got, cubed in the 12th Ninjago season don’t count as death scenes there in a video game, lost their lives and got, cubed. Nya was lucky to have gotten out of the hanger bay before the whole hanger bay exploded. Zane was lucky to have survived and got out of his coma thanks to Pixal and Cyrus Borg wasn’t really leaving Zane there alone was he? He wasn’t really going with Pixal Ronin and the other criminals was he? Was he was just going with them to say good luck, and then go back to where Zane was? Because he didn’t really go with them also, why didn’t you show us master Chen and his Anacondria, army dying? Cole's fakeout death is one of the best ones in the show tho, like the music and the way the dialogue goes silent actually brought a tear to my eye as a teenager watching it. Little question
Why do people hate takeout deaths in this show?
Cuz everyone was mad about Lloyd waking up fake out death in season 10.
Why do people want others to die in this show?
We hate fakeout deaths because it's used too much now and everyone knows that the character won't die. It's simply a waste of time.
