This came to my mind this morning so thought I would share it with you. I call it, an ode to Marion and her fine coat. With baited breath I cannot wait, I stand before her garden gate. I peep inside and there I see, twirling right in front of me. A maiden fair in coat of green, the finest coat that I have seen. A smile of joy is on her face, as she twirls with such grace. Amongst the flowers and the dew, in her coat of green brand new. 'Twas like the most fantastic dream, to see each neatly hand sewn seam. I stood enraptured as she twirled, enthralled by a glimpse into Marion's World. 😊❤
@@marionsworld24 Thank you Marion, you truly are an inspiration. Seeing you twirling there in your garden with your lovely new coat really gave me such joy. This world can give us all some really hard knocks sometimes, but if we keep the wonder and joy in our hearts, we can help the world to be a better place. You and your channel have helped me do exactly that, and for that I am truly thankful. I hope your birthday was a delightfull one.
You are a superb teacher & seamstress Marion !!! I agree, if you had been a sewing teacher, many ladies would have had great benefit from you !! Your gorgeous coat is a triumph of many lessons, I.e. French seam, binding seam edges, etc. I can’t wait to see how you embellish with lovely embroidery!!! Bravo, indeed !!! 🩷🪡🧵🌷
Marion, You are truly, truly a fabulous fabric Artist! I am a 66 year old disabled lady. I live in a assisted living facility and I keep myself active with projects of all types. I enjoy so many different things that I'm always entertained and happy. I recently found your channel and have been watching non stop. You are a wonderful teacher and Artist. I'm amazed at your talent. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me a peek into Marion's world. I adore and admire you truly.❤
Thank you so much Jayne. I think those of us who enjoy doing lots of different things never have time to be bored... There's always something else that draws our attention. I'm glad you're enjoying my channel and seeing what I get up to 💐☺️
Dear Marion, if you had just been my home economics teacher in 8th and 9th grades I would have actually learned to sew garments so in later life I could have made my own clothes in the styles and fabrics that I liked rather than shopping off-the-rack at Sears Roebuck!
It's never too late. I learned to do wood working and painting at 35. I learned how to crochet off RUclips when I retired at 62. I have tried several things for the first time after watching Marian and K3n.
Wow, Marion! What an amazing job you’ve done on the coat….you should be very proud. And I know it will be even more stunning once you’ve put your mad embroidery skills to the cloth… LOVE THIS!!
Just arrived here. Absolutely amazing. Wish you had been my teacher two. Love the description and reasoning behind use each different stitch choice. It’s like all falling into place now. Love this lady ❤
You do set a very fine seam my dear Marion. It was a joy to see! Your coat came out delightfully and brought to mind some of the wonderful swing coats of the 1950s. Having hand sewn garments in linen I can fully appreciate the challenges, and was delighted to see how you dealt with the fabrics natural tendency to fray and stretch. When I was hand sewing linen garments I found it was much easier to ease things than any of the easing done by machine. It was also far more relaxing. The feeling of delight at a seam well sewn is just so satisfying. I look foward to your embroidering embellishments with eager anticipation. To see you there in your garden, in your new coat, swishing its beauty around for us to see, just gave me such an upswell of joy on your behalf, it brought me to the verge of tears. I wish you all the joy and happiness life can bring, and many delightful years wearing your coat! 😊❤
This was lovely to read Lesa. Thank you. I feel you absolutely understand why I love sewing in this way. It's the slowing down and connection with the fabric and process that makes the outcome all the more precious... Thank you...💐
Now you are challenging me to hand tailor an outfit. In high school I worked myself all the way up to doing suiting that was about 75 percent hand tailoring. We did the major long seams on machine. But all the button holes were French style no visible thread buttonholes. We shaped the collars by hand using certain types of stitching and hoarse hair interfacings. We hand shaped it around our hands, using the hams of various sizes and shapes for steaming. I think I have forgotten most of what I learned as a 66 year old woman. I have certainly forgotten everything about pattern drafting and even resizing my store bought patterns to fit. There are you tube videos on all this stuff. This may be one of my wintertime projects is to tailor an outfit for spring, perhaps something g for Easter. You are such an inspiration!!!❤️❤️
Wow! That all sounds absolutely amazing... I think I would have loved to have learned all that.. One of the earliest things I made to wear was a grey suit. A pencil skirt with a kick pleat, a peplum jacket and belt. It was fully lined. It was mainly on the machine, but it was the first time I'd attempted something I thought of as difficult. I was so proud of it I wish you joy of your new project 💐🪡🧵☺️
Oh Marion, it’s beautiful. It fits you so well and it flows so lovely. How wonderful for you. Now you will be able to wear it and feel like a million dollars😊. What fun to have us chose your projects. I feel a part of them. Just lovely 🥰🥰🦋🦋❤️
This was excellent, Marion, 👏 I even pulled my notebook out and made notes. What’s valuable to me in the way you explain things is that you explain WHY the technique or stitch you’re using is, in your opinion, the best for the job at hand. This is where watching an experienced person, working on an actual project to be used (worn) triumphs over books when I’m learning new skills. Finding the right teacher to match an individuals’ learning style can often make or break a persons ability to succeed. I’m so glad that you’re here…and it’s a really beautiful coat that you have there, even before the embroidery 💚 (I also hope you had a lovely day on Saturday 🎂 )
You look lovely ❤ and so does your new duster. It's a good color on you. A very nice make. Thank you for sharing with us ❤. I absolutely love visiting your World ❤😂❤
It's beautiful, Marion, and your instructions are very good. I love that you don't just tell us what you're doing..you also tell us why. I can't wait to see the embroidery.
Good morning Marion, what an excellent teacher you are Marion! The way you share, explain, how to manipulate the fabric so to ease fabric on the sleeve and everything on hand stitching the coat is full of wisdom and common sense. The coat looks absolutely, exquisitely, beautifully hand stitched. I love doing hand stitching, may take slower than machine stitching but it is the joy to see the end result. I used to watch my Mum and granmother doing just that! I really really love the colour Marion, so looking forward to see the embroidered embellishments on. Thank you Marion for sharing your excellent talents. Blessings to you, Thelma ❤❤

Marion this is one BEAUTIFUL COAT!!! It looks lovely on you! What a fabulous sewing job you did truly professional!!! My Mom was a fantastic seamstress ( she had 10 children) & was always making something for us! So I truly appreciate all you did on this lovely coat!!!!👏👏👏🥰🥰
Marion your coat is just gorgeous... Congratulations on your lovely handiwork! I feel very privileged to have been able to watch and listen as you stitched every seam of your beautiful coat. This reminded me of my childhood when my Mum would make her own and my aunts' and our clothes. Like you she was very talented and I loved watching and listening. As I grew I would take on more and more of the shopping, cooking, baking, laundry, cleaning, wallpapering, painting, gardening and all housekeeping tasks to give her time to sew. This was good for us both as I learned to be very capable and independent at a young age and my father had forbidden my mother to return to her nursing career after their wedding. Fond and precious memories.. Thank you my friend Marion. May God bless you and your loved ones. Love Vera in Northern Ireland ❤
My goodness Vera. Didn't you mind having to keep house whilst your mum was sewing? My Mam sewed clothes for people to earn money when I was young. Oh, this coat is absolutely gorgeous! The draping and style is sooooo pretty. Watching you sew is so calming, better than any relaxing apps we can find! Thanks for sharing dear Marion, cant wait to see the embroidery ❤

Herringbone stitch is also great for when your hem has a marked curve to it, I've found; it really helps easing the different lengths together. I'm with you on that one. Anyway, the coat turned out great, hangs nicely and all. Good luck on the embroidery!
Thank you Marion for your video and sharing the journey of this coat. I don't think there are enough words out there to describe it so I will just say stunning. You are a born teacher and I have learnt so much about seams but more importantly I understand them now. Like I imagine us all now we await the embellishments with excitement. I feel as if I have had a masterclass . Well done. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks Carol. It's all down to everyone voting it top that I just focused on getting it done. I just kept letting other things jump the queue.. goodness knows why... I'm so happy I'm on with the embroidery now as I've known since I bought the pattern exactly what I wanted to embroider on it..☺️

My mind has just been blown at that easing technique! I am really looking forward to seeing the embroidery 😊

Oh Marion, that is absolutely beautiful! I love the swish, it looks soo comfortable - you are just so clever :-)
It was all simple sewing. Anyone could do the same ☺️🧵🪡

☺️💐🪡🧵
Oh Marion the coat is absolutely beautiful! Your sewing is awesome! Thank you! I can't wait to see your ideas for the embroidery! ❤❤❤❤
Herringbone stitch is also great for when your hem has a marked curve to it, I've found; it really helps easing the different lengths together. I'm with you on that one.
Anyway, the coat turned out great, hangs nicely and all. Good luck on the embroidery!
It's a great hemming stitch. On circle hems I'd use bias tape at the hemline to mitigate the fullness..☺️🪡🧵
I loved the way you showed easing the shoulder in, I'm not a sewer so this would never have occurred to me!
Oh gorgeous 🥰
Amazing sewing Marion. A beautiful coat. Can't wait for the embroidery now 😊❤
Thank you Marion for your video and sharing the journey of this coat.
I'm so happy I'm on with the embroidery now as I've known since I bought the pattern exactly what I wanted to embroider on it..☺️
Beautiful work and coat. 😍
It must be so satisfying to make your own clothes. I look forward to seeing what you embroider on it.
