A couple of live performances you might want to check out, White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975, Save Me live at Montreal 1981 and Love Of My Life live at Wembley 1986. My first memory of Queen was running round my living room as a small kid screaming along to Tie Your Mother Down (you might want to check out the Wembley 1986 version), I was about 7/8 and too young to know what it was about, I just loved the tune and the energy of it. Also watching the Live Aid concert on the telly, I watched it at a friends house and we were both mesmerized when Queen came on, singing along and clapping just like the crowd did. So many great memories.

If you watch Killer Queen go for the Top of the Pops video, classic, and if you react to the "dis of all time" video choose the lyrics version of "Death on two legs"! He was diagnosed in 1975 but refused to have them removed for fear it would damage his vocal cords. He was the ultimate entertainer and continued to do what he loved at the risk of his health.

John wrote the song, Roger had the concept for the opening/closing segment (parody of British soap opera), "Metropolis", The Royal Ballet, Roman orgy, bunny slippers...lol, it's got it all. Their video for "Body Language" ('82) was banned by MTV but was a success on radio & reached #11 on the "Hot 100".

I'm a bit late. But I first heard Queen when I was at primary school in the late 90's. My teacher at the time use to stick some Queen on and turn it up loud while us kids were on our lunch break. I mostly kept to myself so I use to regularly stay in the classroom with him listening to it. Have loved them ever since.
Their music has helped me and continues to help me get through some really tough times as we all get from time to time. I owe them a lot.
About a year and a half ago I achieved my lifetime dream of seeing them live. It was the best night of my life.
Only Brian & Roger have kept the band going, but a very talented singer by the name of Adam Lambert has joined them. His vocal range is seriously impressive. He handles all of Queen's songs with ease. I'm sure if Freddie was still around he would approve.
Hello from New Zealand by the way.

FACT: This single and the album it's from was met with a fercely hostile reception in the press. Critics hated it and accused the band of pomposity. Released at the worst time possible because Punk and The Sex Pistols had just changed everything. Queen inadvertently helped the Pistols gatecrash the UK's conciousness. They were meant to go on to the Bill Grundy show instead of the Sex Pistols but pulled out at the last minute. Everyone knows how the shit hit the fan afterwards!

OK I'm old, I saw Queen live 5 times. I suggest you watch them at Live Aid, to this day it's the largest concert ever held. It was in aid to raise money for the Ethiopian Famine in the early 1980's. At the time of Live Aid I was serving in the British Royal Marine Commandos in a refugee camp in Ethiopia. We listened to it on the radio. We were surrounded be the horror of the Famine, but when Queen came on the radio those poor soles who were there even reacted in a very positive way. I remember that a lot of us Royal Marine Commandos were crying watching some of the children dancing along, I'm teary eyed just remembering. I looked around at men I had fought alongside, who were tough, hardened Royal Marine Commandos who I had fought along side in a war against Argentinian's in 82. By the end of Queen's set we were dancing with the children. It went along way to help build their trust in us. The famine is one of the two worst memories I have. I only watched it for the first time last year, my son put it on the TV. A lot of memories came back and a lot of tears.

Will never see the likes of this group again, they were better live than on recordings.

I'm 23, and I grew up with this kind of music because of my parents. My mom was a huge George Michael fan and my dad listend to a lot of music but especially Queen. That's also how I got in to the Queen fandom. I remember my first youtube video I watched was Queen - Don't stop me now. Also I live in the Netherlands, and each year around christmas until 00:00 new years eve, a radio station plays 2000 songs. We can vote on songs to be in the top 2000, and it will be ranked from 2000 to 1, it has started in 1999 and Bohemian Rhapsody has ranked number one , 17 times. Last year Queen had a total of 37 songs in the top 2000.

I was lucky enough to hear Queen for the first time at Manchester University where they played live on March 20 1974. I had never heard them before but went on a recommendation from a friend.

Freddie Mercury was an amazing performer and singer. At his tributeconcert only George Michael was able to match his vocals the rest was simply not good enough

He did indeed, with this very song, but in interview George Michael said it was really difficult because the vocal range is so great.

Kudos to my boy Roger for his drumming and amazing vocals. What a great voice ! Has a great solo catalogue too where you can see just how good he really is. His side band The Cross was where he was lead singer and guitarist, Just so talented.

This is their BEST performance of this song! They are all such brilliant musicians, and of course no one could ever sing and perform like Freddie! You need to react to Play The Game live in Montreal1981, also .... that whole concert was pretty much brilliant. Love Freddie / Queen forever!! :-)

Queen live - a treat! This is a well orchestrated jam session and they have a ball with this song! In Australia we still have some "pub bands" and they play great music - that is where most of the older bands started playing to the audience that they had on a particular night and reading them - I think that is where the best bands hone their skills, pity that so many bands are "created" these days instead of growing together organically with great musicians coming together for the love of their craft.

Nice reaction! You guys should react to Now Am Here live at Wembley 1986, or Liar live in London 1977, or Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow 1974 for something a bit more rocking from Queen.

in that beginning, he's taking us to church with those gospel changes Love it!!
OK live performances for a live performance novice you have to start with
    the Live Aid performance,
it's long, but worth it, Roger, the drummer, works his tail off with power drumming And singing I don't know how he does it.
George Michael covers Somebody to Love when he sings it at the Freddie Mercury Memorial Concert. Check out the audience and how they are with him every note.
Who Wants to Live Forever..so sad when you realize that Freddie knows he is HIV positive then, but the song is from the movie soundtrack Highlander written by Brian May, the guitarist.
