    I'm 25 years old, but I really like this band. I memorized all the songs, I watched the movie, I watched the documentary, I read about the members of the band. I feel like I was born in the wrong year.

    • @heyjude1920
      @heyjude1920 4 года назад +5

      vindy chairunnisa As a lifelong Queen fan, I hated the movie. I couldn’t wait for its release, and I found myself screaming at the TV while watching it. So many mistruths and downright lies.

    • @vindychairunnisa4637
      @vindychairunnisa4637 4 года назад +2

      @@heyjude1920 maybe, they have a reason for it all. at least there is still something right in that movie. I'm sure whatever the reason Freddy will agree. because after seeing the movie, I personally feel more how beautiful a Freddy Mercury is.

    • @heyjude1920
      @heyjude1920 4 года назад +3

      vindy chairunnisa Yeah, they were forced to follow the typical biopic formula. Even Freddie’s PA thought that they portrayed Freddie as much more depressed than the Freddie that he cared for over the last 15 years of his life. He wished that they had shown him laughing more often, because that was the typical Freddie. I’m 62, and Freddie was not portrayed in a good way. I grew up with them, read the books, watched the documentaries. Even Sharon Osborne (Ozzy’s wife), who was around at the time, refused to see it. She said that Brian was always jealous of Freddie, and she knew that it would be skewed. At one point Axl Rose approached Brian about new therapies from the US, but Brian brushed him off. Have you ever seen the videos made by “Watch Mojo” or “Grunge”? They go into some of the details, but even they missed some of the errors. When Roger stands up and accuses Freddie of “killing Queen”, I lost it. Roger had already made 2 solo albums, and Brian had released a mini-album. Freddie never fired John Reid from the back of a limo. He left because his other client, Elton John, was feeling neglected. Why did they make Freddie seem like a jerk? Freddie respected his parents, and asked his mother’s permission to change his last name, yet they portrayed him as disrespectful. I’m all for anything that brings Freddie more attention, but the movie was an abomination, all for ratings. “Poor boy makes good, overcomes obstacles, triumphs in the end”- that’s the biopic formula. It was a hit piece, plain & simple. People actually believe what they saw & it’s infuriating to me. But you go on back, and live happily under your rock. I could write my own book about the lies that were told. Good day!

      Yes! Under Pressure turned into a duet with Freddy & Roger since Roger took on the Davi Bowie part. He said he couldn’t get as much power in his voice because it was a bit low for him, but I think the blending of their voices is great. Freddy’s voice so clear & pure, Brian’s more warm & mellow & Roger either raspy or crazy high range. The best at harmonies!

      Please let me clarify 🙃 Yes, Freddie sang lead most of the time on live versions. I saw the above linked version on another reactor’s channel and thought it was the best one I’d seen. As I said before, it’s a combination of several concerts that shows Brian singing lead and Freddie & Roger singing background. In those older concerts, I don’t feel Freddie sang the song as well as Brian did when Freddie sang lead...Just MHO 🥰 So, technically Rover is correct!

    You have heard as much of Roger's voice as Freddie's - you just didn't notice it. He does background vocals on almost all the live tracks *specifically to cover* when Freddie can't reach high enough. It's amazing to observe once you know about it - his falsetto creates a wall of sound that melds into Freddie's and makes it sound fuller when it's fragile.

    I am very happy to have found you! Getting in on the ground floor and interested in stories. I saw Queen first in 1974 when they were the warm-up band for Mott The Hoople paid $8.25 for my ticket in Cleveland. Saw them again in 1981. The last time I saw them with Freddie. This video you should react to and see just what control Freddie had over the crowds. Freddie was engaged to a woman called Mary Austin. She was the love of his life and remained so until the end of his life. Most of his estate was bequeathed to her and she is the only person in the world that knows where his ashes are. This song remains on the set list to this day and is an emotional roller coaster for everyone in attendance. Just a little note. The shirt Freddie is wearing was iconic. This past summer I decided I needed that shirt when I went to see them. I searched the globe and found it in a little shop in the Bahama's. It was a tee shirt. I ordered it. and had a friend cut it up to duplicate Freddie's. At the concert in Pittsburgh I must have had a thousand people approach me on where I found it. That little shop in the Bahama's was blown away by the orders they received. I am going to send you 2 links. The first is Freddie at Wembly 1986 That is the one you should react to. The second is in Seoul, Korea last month just to show you how after nearly 40 years following his death the impact his words and presence has endured. I have loads of Queen stories and can't wait to share them with you ENJOY...

    Just for fun you guys should watch the "Top of the Pops" performance of "Killer Queen". You hear all the lyrics (it's about a high class call girl & Freddie's lyrics were compared to the sophistication of a Noel Coward play). Plus it's fun to see how they looked in their earlier days.
    As for Roger, it's always amazed me that he has that husky rasp in his voice, including his speaking voice, yet could sing those beautiful high clear harmonies (like in "Somebody to Love" & "BoRhap"), not to mention his infamous falsetto.
    Loving your Queen reactions.💙
    And Stan, you really need to watch the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody". You'd love it! And even though not 100% accurate it still fills out a lot of their history, plus..killer soundtrack, of course.💙

    Flick of the Wrist and Death on Two Legs..two really vicious songs about the management, both written by Freddie. They got sued for the second one by Norman Sheffield of Trident, who realized they were talking about him. They left his company and were managed by John Reid (who also managed Elton John) and who told them to go out and make the best album they could. The result: A Night at the Opera Album with Bohemian Rhapsody and their first #1 hit!

    The movie was horrible! Full of mis-truths and downright lies. Freddie never fired John Reid from the back of a limo. Reid left because his other client, Elton, was feeling neglected. He was very respectful of his parents. I saw an interview with his mother, Jer. Freddie asked her permission to change his name to Mercury. She replied that it was fine with her, as long as she could still call him “ Son”. Freddie Met Mary Austin when she was dating BRIAN May. Jim Hutton wasn’t a waiter, he was a barber. Some other corrections can be found in this short video: ruclips.net/video/n_kHPk0ED6I/видео.html An even better one was released by the site Grunge: ruclips.net/video/tQ2MvYEKt7E/видео.html The movie makes Freddie look petrified at the beginning of LiveAid. He wasn’t. They had butterflies, like everyone else.
