Great video. I like that watch a lot, I bought the Swiss railway homage from berny and have no complaints with it. Wicked watch for the money. I’m keen to pick up one of these watches now too.
In my country, we'd refer to this colour as "Chanterelles-yellow" after the edible mushrooms. 😋 It certainly has character, but the other versions are a saver bet. Apart from it being a bit thick it's crazy value indeed. What does the cheapest watch with an internal bezel from a Microbrand cost, 400€? This one is 70.
Mine fell off when I took off my coat, hit the floor and dented the case. Wish they had beveled the sharp edge of the case. Crystals ok. So I got rid of the cheap ass band with the oversized loops. Now it is secure. Love the watch though it is kind of tall. The rotating bezel turns on its own so kind of useless for diving. The movement feels cheap and too sensitive but it seems to work fine. Love the lume, day/date and crystals. The screw lugs require using two screwdrivers at the same time. Tricky.
Ya got me, ordered one yesterday in black, looks too good to be true. They actually sent a picture of the piece before it shipped. Real nice touch. Once I receive it , I'll let you know, Thanks for the video
I agree...the value is spectacular for the money. So much to like! It's too thick, though, and I'd appreciate a narrower lug width as well. Great pick-up...I might consider it in white. Thank you for bringing it to our attention!
@@JasonTheWatchGuy Actually just got it this morning and for the price its really hard to beat. Such nice quality. And let them know I bought it because of your review.
I like this watch, like the date window design. I do want a yellow diver, I don't mind the Seagull movement if it's accurate. Have you tested it on the timegrapher Jason? Some Chinese movements can be way off. I have a pocketwatch with a Seagull movement in it, was a gift a few years ago, and it's off +97 seconds a day! If it's accurate with a +6 to +8 I wouldn't be OCD about it!! The lume is great, but no lume on the 12 on the dial is too confusing to work as a diver. I wouldn't take it down to where lume is required but still a great desk diver and very attractive. Despite the negatives I would definitely buy it for the nice design anyway! Just one thing that makes me unsure, I've read some negative reviews about Berny fibbing about the case material where a polished SS watch turned out to be chromium plated alloy. I'd be slightly worried that it is actually 316L steel, and not some aluminium/steel alloy. What's the weight of the watch, if it has a good 70-80gm without the bracelet, it's probably stainless steel. If it's OK on material and OK on the timegrapher I'll be clicking on your link!!👍👍😀
Thats strange, haven't seen those comments. This one is pretty weighty and the brushing is something I don't think you could do like this on a chrome plate. The timing on this one is within 5 a day, but you're right, they can be out massively in some cases unfortunately.
First off I have to thank you for sug suggesting the Pagani tudor homage got the black one and was very surprised how nice it is in person it really scratched the itch Thanks again Mate 👍
Berny has a few amazing watches. I have the super affordable mondaine style homage. It’s a great watch. I have been looking at this one for some time now. Thanks Jason
now it says berny on the watch, still the same $2 looking strap but it's better no doubt just reminds us of those throwaway watches all had that look of strap ($25 walmart watches a few years ago). Now miyota day-date 8205. Case is decent, but race-styled "redline" used to make solid stainless can/compressor looking watches similar shape and size, often $35-45 on amazon. i might get this with the steel strap, that looks pretty substantial. 100 usd on sale plus any 11.11 discounts, hopefully can get it down to 80, which is reasonable sum of the parts.
I fancy dual crown watches (SC/SCS). Was "triggered" by the latest Ali sale - and got this one "dirt cheap" under 85 EUR (With (!) taxes that is!). BERNY [ Budget Compressor Diver ] With Myota 8205... A "cheeple" watch. No ambition there. I was kind off scratching' head - because the watch's screw down crown did not convince me as a deep water resistant (; Very emotional an positive reviews online. “An inner rotating bezel fetish” maybe you should see someone about that…😂lately I’ve being considering the purchase of a Cestrian…Have you heard of this British brand? Greetings and Happy New Year.
Hi Jason, thanks the review. My Berny arrived today, very happy with it, interesting mine has a Miyota movement. Only thing I am not keen on is the strap, can you tell which sort of straps did you put on yours?
Apparently the name berny means bold as a bear, or brave as a bear in German and French language. With this crazy design it kind of matches the brand name.
It's a funky little watch but that day-date cutout is really bugging since it's ever so slightly to right. Berny are doing some pretty cool watches recently, kudos to them.
Great ! Perhaps Berny try to switch to another audience, higher-end, and they left the Berny branding for that, which equates to cheap non-stainless steel pieces. With a name often comes a price tag. I've noticed such a "barrier" in the Zelos community with the recent Mirage v2, with price starting at $3'900 and reaching $8'900. Some Zelos enthusiasts don't adhere to the availability of high prices that divert from Zelos usual practices. Once again, it's a phenomenon known as "price anchoring" that I already covered when you present the launch price of crowdfunded watches.
Very nice, it reminds me of something but I can’t think what.. I keep meaning to pick up one of their Swiss train watches with sapphire, amazing value., this one seems to offer the same vfm proposition
Ha ha, morning my friend ☕ ☕ . Thanks, we discussed this watch like 2 months ago when I inquired about it but neither one of us knew anything about it at the time. needless to say, for the price I'm all in bro 😎 ..
Yeah, definitely impressive finishing and details for that price. Quite chunky though, how does it wear on your wrist? Thinking about the 50mm L2L size, often a borderline for my 6.5 inch wrist. But it usually depends on how the lugs curves down.
For the money, the value is spectacular, but there are a couple of aesthetic features that I really don't like. First, the "inverted cone" bezel tha'ts larger than the case. It would have been MUCH better a cylindrical one, as large as the case, or a standard "truncated cone" one. Second, the arrow shaped hands. Simple "stick" rectangular hands, as large as the indexes, would have been better.
Fascinating watch. It's a little slab sided to me. I have the CW super compressor, which I know is in a totally different price range, but their light catcher case is to die for. I think the issue with Seagull movements is due to unfamiliarity in the West, they are considered unproven. My buddy works in watches and when he gets a Seagull or Guan Chin movement, he takes it apart and cleans it and reassembles it to make sure it's super clean. But for the price, I don't think there's another watch like it.
The Super Compressor is absolutely amazing, plenty of their watches hit the right spot for me. I can see why he'd do that, obviously the quality control will be different over their, especially with that pricing.
@@watsondna doesn't seem to be too unusual. The Dan Henry 1970 (more expensive but much better looking in my opinion) also has only one crown as screw down. Obviously it's not such a big deal with the bezel crown...
I just saw this watch for the first time a few days ago and I'm hooked. It's just a handsome watch I think that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not. It looks like a working man's watch. I think these watches would be great candidates for modding. Maybe some different hands and I'm thinking that a top hat sapphire crystal would set this one off, if you're into those. I've got to have one 👍

Not overly keen on the name If I said I was rockin a Berny I'd probably get arrested. That said, it's amazingly impressive. The case design reminds me a bit of the Oris Aquis.
I fully agree. Since they target an international audience, several Chinese watch brands should hire an English language consultant that would help and review all the writings before they issue anything: on the dial, caseback, manual, tags, stickers, box... They shoot themselves in the foot by not realizing how odd impressions their bad wording hurt them and kill their credibility.
Agree ... even Bernard (or better yet St. Bernard) would have been better than Berny. But the specs on this for the price are great .... good on Berny.
