6 months ago I became aware that this watched existed, it's my perfect watch. Good and classy for daily wear to the office, as well as rugged enough for 6,000 m mountain climbing and diving. Still saving for it, will be a great Christmas auto gift.
I love it. I love everything about it. All the little quirks that make other watch nerds cry, give this watch nerd a woody. (I have a few like everone elses!) I want the rest to be understated and elegant but their own thing, this does that. I already have the Alpiner 4 and love it. Alpina delivers pretty serious bang for your buck, that’s certain. I think I will pull the trigger on this one too. I was considering a Longines H-Conquest. Not bad but (that’s everyone else’s dive watch). I think this one’s mine… Especially knowing the heritage. (That really matters to me.) Giving credit where it’s due. Anyway, thank you for the review!
I agree, Alpina is an Underrated brand, I didn't use to like it UNTIL I decided to get the Seastrong Diver 300 in Navy blue, what a watch! super high quality and premium, nice unboxing presentation, simply a great watch company, would recommend all the way ! this one looks beautiful too !
Beautiful watch, I have 3 Alpina Startimer watches and they are one of my favorites watches in my collection. They are very thin compared to my othe sport watches making them very comfortable and versatile. Nice video and keep the good work my friend!
Such a good looking watch! I love the vintage look. The ivory dial, in the right lighting gives off an antique patina. The odd placement of the date window doesn't bother me much. But I do kind of like how it makes watch nerd's heads spin.
Great review. Been looking at buying the longines heritage tuxedo that you had offered sometime back and now this is a great alternative to it. Thanks Teddy, and keep up with the great content.
Great watch! a suggestion, you may compare the available compressor-style watches at different prices like Den Hanry, Alpina, Longines, and two three other brands.
I sold this watch, even though I had a very special relationship with it. On the pros, despite the diameter, the lugs are very curved and hug well the wrist, making it seem smaller. The movement performed very well even after years and the crowns were a joy to operate. The infamous date was the least of my concerns (I was very neutral to it). Unfortunately, the indices and the glass didn't go along very well and the legibility wasn't good, in that you had super bright reflections most of the time. The 21 mm diameter is a real drag on this if you want to go mesh. Watchgecko produces a 21mm mesh, but it's not a perfect fit, unless you modify it. The crowns are uneven, but so are the Longines crowns. The arrow hand is a design I really couldn't like...lacks in the smoothness that the Longines has (even if it's on the hour hand there).
Great review and a lovely, vintage-inspired compressor. I particularly like the cream dial, the boxed crystal and the rotating inner bezel. Get rid of the odd date window and this would be a keeper.
Placement of date window not a problem, when actually wearing this Alpina on your wrist. as you move your hand to view the face, the window becomes 'equalized'
Hi Teddy, great review. Can you also review the Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage GMT? I have the one in the sunburst blue, picked at the big wholesale warehouse for just under $1000. Seems to be a wonderful watch and something looking forward to your review of that.
@@jonathanrobinson9208 yes places are selling them refurbished but actually they are just new old stick. The brand is done i.m.o. I owned 3 in the past and sold them all. Their customer service was non existent when I needed info they msgd me saying contact Frederique Constant....I did and they told me too contact alpina.lolol
Great watch Teddy. Do you mind reviewing the Circula Super compressor SuperSport dive watch please. Thinking of buying that German watch and I need your opinion.
It's a nice enough watch but I CANNOT get past the date location. It's not even equal distance between 3 and 4? So strange and just throws it off for me.
I would like to see this in more of a tropical dial and color scheme, that would make the design of this one pop! I do like the dive watches that break away from the mold, so to speak, and this Alpina is a very nice example of that!
This leave an immediate impression on me. I always like a dive watch that can double as a dress watch too but I still got mixed feeling. I like the general design but not the details (broad minute hand, date window placement, just a tad too large, etc) Just to confirm, Teddy. That was not your hand wearing the watch right? If I am not mistaken, there are 2 different hands that appear in your channel. Yours and a thicker 7.1 inch wrist for the larger watch. One last thing, speaking of under rated dive watch, I would love to see something on Certina.
If this watch had no date window or if the date window was nicely positioned i would have pulled the trigger. What was the designer thinking of when he forced the date window like that.
Exactly the same for me. Is not symmetrical between 3/4 super ugly. If it wasn’t for that was a better watch than the Longines legend divers at half price.

Im not a huge fan of dive watches in general, but I really like this one. Its very clean and simple.
I think its time for you to dive in 😉
@@larsstougaard7097 HAHAHA!!! 😂😂😂😎👍
What do you swim/dive with?.
Yes, Alpina is a very underrated brand! I've enjoyed my bronze version of the Seastrong Heritage! Beautiful piece!

I've only become aware of Alpina in the last year or so, they look to be really quality watches. Playing in the same range as Hamilton

I’m happy to see Alpina getting some ❤️.
I have an Alpina regulator, love this brand.
Great watch! a suggestion, you may compare the available compressor-style watches at different prices like Den Hanry, Alpina, Longines, and two three other brands.
Yeah, would be great. I'd include Vostok, Baltic, Farer
I like it, including the date window, which lines up with the crown.
yeah that date window kills it
I have a 40mm Alpina Startimer. Honestly a brilliant watch
I wish they would offer this with no date or at the 6… not a fan of that location.
I am not a fan of a date complication on automatic watches in general. It is pointless and 99% of the time ugly
I agree. And the crowns have random spacing. It is almost a good watch
I sold this watch, even though I had a very special relationship with it.

I've been waiting for this video! Underrated watch, amazing style! 😍
I saw this in the store today and had to find out more! Thanks for the great video!
I just received mine yesterday and I absolutely love it !
That has to be one of the most handsome vintage divers I’ve seen lately. Love everything about it. Except the size. Too big for me 😢
Great review and a lovely, vintage-inspired compressor. I particularly like the cream dial, the boxed crystal and the rotating inner bezel. Get rid of the odd date window and this would be a keeper.
it's not an review, he's selling it.
Placement of date window not a problem, when actually wearing this Alpina on your wrist. as you move your hand to view the face, the window becomes 'equalized'
A real beauty: classic looks. Great overview! 👍
Nice design except for the date window....ruins the symmetry of the dial IMHO.
This is a great looking watch! Going to watch store to check it out.
The date window is so oddly positioned and the "Seastrong 300m=1000ft" should be two separate lines IMO. It's nice though.
Agreed. I've never seen a date window at like 3:45. 😂
Yeah, I guess it lines up with the crown, so it kinda works (?) but I’d rather have it at 3:00 or 6:00.
The crown operated bezel is actually pretty cool
check out the black and yellow bulova accutron 2

You didn't mention it but this model comes in a gray or blue dial. Saw it at the Gnomo website in Singapore a few years ago.
It is easy to overlook most Alpina models because their Alpiner 4 looks so much better than most models.
i have the alpiner regulator and it is my favorite watch. also have a star timer, big fan of the brand and totally under rated
The bazel crown is screw down to lock the bazel rotation. The bazel need to operated on the bottom of the sea not on surface.
Teddy, it would be the black dial or petrol dial, thanks!
Their monopusher Startimer Chronograph is a real looker, too.
I've been a long time admirer of the Seastrong but I just can't get beyond the placement of the date window. WHY ??
You can file 1mm off a 22mm mesh strap, lovely watch
Love the watch, not sure about the date window at 3:45?....Perhaps they should have put it at 4:20 for a little more funkiness :-) !
I haven't had good luck with Alpina, I bought a chronograph and the movement broke , on the other hand Alpina service handled it professionally.
I noticed a rather large number of refurbished Alpinas offered on the secondary market which made me rethink purchasing one.
@@jonathanrobinson9208 maybe they bought a bad batch of movements and they malfunctioned . I wouldn't purchase another one.

It's nice looking overall but 42mm (too big), 21mm straps and a ridiculous placement of the date window eliminate this one from contention for me.
I wish they would offer some more colour options
Great watch Teddy. Do you mind reviewing the Circula Super compressor SuperSport dive watch please. Thinking of buying that German watch and I need your opinion.
great watch, but no real super-compressor case, correct? Just a 'look a like'?
Muy bonito, aunque iré a por el verde
Beautiful watch. You made quite the diplomatic side-step about the position of the date window, though. Well done!
Great video thanks for sharing! Don't really like the watch though. (the date window + lack of lume)
It's a nice enough watch but I CANNOT get past the date location. It's not even equal distance between 3 and 4? So strange and just throws it off for me.
Is there tactile feedback when moving the bezel?
Also curious
Usually not.
No
Did I miss it but was the price mentioned anywhere.?

Is this a better option than Tissot Seastar ?
If this watch had no date window or if the date window was nicely positioned i would have pulled the trigger. What was the designer thinking of when he forced the date window like that.
looks alot like the Hamilton 600 super compressor
wassup teddy!!! 😎✌️
Love the almost art deco style.
classic
You look better without the 5 o’clock shadow dude.
21mm lug width. pass.
Wow didn’t even consider this brand, got my eyes on an oris, but…..
I like it but the date window ruins it for me

@@stefanotattifrongia3612things don't have to be symmetric you know. It adds to the retro style
I don't understand going for this watch when the Chris Ward C65 Super Compressor exists

Because this looks a lot better. What kind of brain rot question
I saw it for $900, I had to go to the hospital for a week and now its $1400....oh well
it's not a review when your selling the product or sponsored!!!
Its a nice watch, but not at this price point.Dont know why its much more expensive than Seastrong.
Putting a date on this watch in such a terrible position was a mistake
Date location is awful. Jesus.
First comment for once
Did a primary school kid design the layout. The crowns and the date position are just wrong
Low IQ thing to say
