but technicaly, the Amphibias uses the same principle. But yes, it was a requirement for the designers of the Amphibia, to don't use any western patents in the design ;)
It's true that Vostok don't say they use the super compressor case, but look at the design. In the past, and probably today too, one of the most important components of this type watch wasn't the case or the caseback, but in fact, it was the acrylic crystal that, as pressure was applied from the water, it pushed against the acrylic and formed an even stronger seal the deeper it went, until eventually cracking. I would say the Vostok would probably outperform most of the models you mentioned here. I've only ever taken mine to 100m down so I've never tested it, but I think there's a video showing it's impressive performance.......for a $75 watch, it kills the competition. 🙂
the question I have is what is the connection between being a "super compressor" and having internal bezel. As far as I can see, you find these two always together
Before arriving here to vent my spleen at your absolute Hubris and Snobbery in not mentioning the Vostok Amphibia. My favorite right now is the Christopher Ward Super Compressor. That's a beautiful watch and it's a real super compressor with a nifty display case back so you can see the mechanism. Pretty darn cool bit of history.
@@tomwillshaw2808 I forget which youtube channel went into the science of this, but one reason companies stopped making super compressors about half a century ago was because modern diver technology replaced and improved upon it. I do have a Super Compressor in my collection and that is the great Christopher Ward C65 Super Compressor. AFAIK it is the only true SC watch in production nowadays, CW having reverse-engineered the original EPSA tech. It has no significant use or advantage nowadays, but together with the pretty original case design this is truly an amazing watch with an unusual charm. That Aquascaphe is just another SC style watch.
Im here bc of a recent acquisition, a gold dial Hamilton super 600. My wrist is on the smaller side so the 36mm case fits me well and it looks beautiful. Using the crown at 2 o’clock to rotate the internal bezel is not as easy as turning an external bezel but i love the aesthetic and vintage charm.
Christopher Ward just made a (real) super compressor and it's beautiful. No link, or the comment won't work. Jory, Check out the CW super compressor with the blue dial!
