I definitely want to see more. I'd even be willing to come and be the cameraman if you're up for that. I've definitely complained about comm guys in the past but honestly nothing would make me happier than for all the crap I've heard to be proven wrong first hand. Between recs and comms we're the only people who really give a damn about the fishery so we should definitely be working together and understanding each other is the first step.
Killed a lot less than the Rec fishermen and no small fish killed in the process. The public who own the fish are also the people who wanna eat them on restaurants, not just the ones who can afford to go out and catch them.
Know why recs dont get along with these guys? Because they fill up the bottom of a boat with 70 something fish and wipe out an area in one night. Why should a piece of paper allow you to keep 20 times the amount of fish as I can? Get a real job times have changed. Market hunting ducks used to be legal too but its not now for obvious reasons. Your nets are the equivalent of a punt gun. Listen to how they talk, obviously model citizens....haha

Thanks for posting this video, very cool to see how it's done the right way and to see how you make a living 👍- congrats on the nice haul!

It’s only a matter of time until the right people are in charge and we get rid of gill nets that have been destroying our fishery for years now
What size meshes and lines u using?
Most of that was 3 3/4” 35 mesh deep if I remember correctly. Forty or fifty pound leadline
Wish I was doing it looks like fun bro
It’s hard work but it’s fun when it’s like that. Wish I was still doing it
Where do you get your nets from?
We get the netting and corks from Kellers supply in Manteo and we order the line from Ketchem supply in Maryland then make the nets ourselves.
This is why we don't have fish
@@stryanx4395 complelty false. Recs catch more fish than commercial. 500k recreational fishermen and less than 1k gill netters.

Throwing dead fish back in the water what's the point of that
What fish? If it was dead then it was thrown back because it was either the wrong size or out of season.
