The planners of the university are at fault in building the dorms across route 60, Warwick Blvd, and not spending some of the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS THEY GET FROM TAXPAYERS to build pedestrian walk overs because they expect the CITY OF NEWPORT NEWS to foot the bill for the safety of their students. TRIBLE. I hope the graduates of this university leave more intelligent than the self indulgent ones running it.

I understand where you’re coming from, but this situation is really more a reflection of road design. If it’s deemed necessary to have a pedestrian bridge at CNU for safety reasons, why not at more intersections? It would be more feasible and equitable to make the road safer for pedestrians across its entirety, rather than make safety a privilege granted to only those who are crossing from CNU’s Main to East campus. Thanks for your thoughts!

Still they are relying on the city taxpayers to pay for the short-sightedness of the University to make the situation safe. The road was there before the automobile. I crossed the road every school day and graduated from Ferguson High School. I ate lunch in the CNC snack bar. Yes, I've seen this city grow. And the way CNU has overtaken the Hidenwood area is what it is. But their planners don't seem to have the safety of the students in mind. The Virginia taxpayers are part of the University and now want more from the same city residents who have already contributed.
