The receiver range is limited by the antenna configuration. When you close the lid on the cab it pushes the antenna into the horizontal position. The antenna in the transmitter is vertically polarized. There is a 20db signal loss from cross polarization. Every 3db is equal to cutting the signal by 50%. That’s a lot of loss. They should have included a longer coaxial section which would allow you to move the antenna back a little and maintain correct polarization. I believe this ESC has an over temp shut off. Driving in the sand presents a huge load and at that slow speed there isn’t enough airflow to cool it. The addition of a fan would help and paddle tires would add load but MIGHT give enough speed to assist with cooling. The factory tires were digging a trench and the chassis was dragging on the sand. Slightly taller and or wider tires might keep the chassis out of the sand. If you want to compare apples to apples, both of these cars are almost identical so take the 124019 out in the sand and I believe you will see the same heat issue on it. The transmitter range should be better on the 124019 because there is room to keep the antenna vertical. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
I bought one last year and that little thing is well worth the money and then some!! The tires wore out from all that power so I installed a set of the same off road tires that come on the little Redcat Inferno. You have to use a longer screw but one of the inferno tires will fit where the spare goes. Awesome little car that is!!😍😍
I suspect what happened is that you got one with not enough grease in the diffs (common issue with these). Combine that with a hot day and running it in sand and you may have the cause for the overheating. Mine just arrived today, and after watching many videos I took apart and regreased the diffs. My shocks were not overfilled like many have been. Love the channel guys!
Sand put a lot of load on the motor /esc. Try mounting a fan on the esc. The body does not look like it allows for a lot of airflow through the buggy to keep everything cool. I mainly run my 17cars on the beach👍
LOVE how you guys are making these budget friendly vids it’s perfect for right around the holiday ideas!! Great share 💯 Love this hobby, just wish my wife was into it too lol
The main reason for the overheating will be sand getting into the brushes of the motor and causing static pulses. I had the same problem but yeah, probably the best budget buggy for all the newbies.
My 144001 was also pretty hot in stock form. It need some cooling and this new design made electronics and motor more closed in and cook itself. It need some cooling fin on motor or some holes on body allow air go in. My 144001 now converted to 60A brushless and now on 2S lipo it runs cool and fast. It made 82 km/h top speed on not completely full battery. Like your content! 😉
@@TheRcKiwis In one or two month you can see the build on my channel. It is hungarian language but mostly it will be timelapse wrenching and a test in the end. 😉
I had same issue after 5 minutes running off road with big wheels. I honestly think it rocks but they have ESC problems how Wltoys should work on it. Apart of that it rocks crazy. I'm now waiting for my Brushless combo. I think it's the best way to get sure don't get on fire 🔥 🤣🤣🤣🤣😜😜😜 Great video.
I actually love this buggy, BUT: Lube all gears, I mean ALL of them. Check pressure on tire bolt as sometimes they are to tight and it overheats the motor to compensate.
Hi rc friends 🤙. Another Great video 🤜🤛. Nice Spot 😍, the car 🤔😅too much sand 🥵. Very good reviews and test runn - big like 👍😉. Have a Great day and cheers up mate from Cádiz - Andalucía - Spain 😊😉😎👍💪🚗💨💨🤝💨🇪🇸
Looks like you guys had fun. Nice to see Amber get to go first for a change 😜. I think the car was just a bit overloaded with the sand. I’ve run cars in the sand before and they can get very hot, especially brushed motors. Still that looks like a great value car.
@@TheRcKiwis let’s blame Amber 🤣. Actually driving them in the sand is good fun though. Hopefully you guys can make some more videos with it. Love your enthusiasm from both of you. I hope you both have a great weekend.
I think running that rc in sand was a little bit to much for it to handle. Is like us if we run in sand we will get tired fast. Great video guys I love watching all your videos
All these numbers eh.. 124018, it's only 1 x digit short of a Phone number! 😂 LOL. Respect for keeping it real & honest there. 👍 I thought the overheating was maybe little buggy didn't like the drag/friction of the sand, to much load, but obviously faulty ESC & being an RX Combo makes sense why it lost range if it got toasted. Still think these are great stocking fillers for kid that wants to get into the hobby. Have a nice evening guys.
Great video guys. A pity that you've picked up a dodgy one. Have you tried switching over the ESC/Rx combo unit? Could be an easy way to prove where the problem may be. Make a vid' about taking it apart and you can show how easy/difficult it is to upgrade. Good luck and keep up the good work :)
AHHHHHHHHHH. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! WHAT IS WLTOYS DOING TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Ugh, my poor 144001! (still an absolutely amazing RC car by the way. But at this point I'm literally screaming "WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?") XD
RC Saylors would be proud!!! I am a fan of theirs ya got a new sub, accent was a lil difficult to navigate, but not impossible AWESOME VIDEO "WL Toys" is a good capable brand, are they best no top 3 no I will put them top 5 ENTRY LEVEL though. Wuaow, best comment of the year!! Thanks for that information :).
They come overfilled with shock oil. Let about a quarter of it out and that will soften them out. The same issue with the 124019

The sand might be to much resistance for the set up. Putting to much stain on it.

Watch out for iron sand.(the black kind) that stuff wrecks electric motors. Its high conductive and does a lot of damage 😊

I'm really considering this one
Oh dear pity about the overheating otherwise good demo guys 🙂

Looks like the motor/esc is fried.
Always be sure fresh air can get inside the motor & esc at all costs. Gotta be able to get the hot air out.

The shocks are overfilled with oil, same problem as the 144001-they also need the diffs checking for grease.

I think it needs some slots in the body for better airflow

damn numbers eh Joe lol
Can it be modded to fit 5000mAh battery?
Hey you guys ever on planing on coming back to nz
Hey! Yes we will one day 😊❤️🇳🇿
Yeah
Have you guys dun the video of the 124018 on the track yet? I am trying to decide between the 124081 and the 12428. What do you guys think?
Everything they make is an exact copy of LC Racing minus the brushless system
The sand caused the motor to overheat. Its like running in long grass etc
The RC Kiwis call the company who made it and tell them it has issues and the springs are to stiff they should of did brushless with a cooling fan
Wow. Straight knock off of the Tacon Cavalry.
i think the shocks are overfilled
I would like for you guys to test out a Traxxas X Maxx
Looks like we might just have to! 😁
Cool
Can't wait to see that video
Love all your videos
Wow
I guess the buggy isn't a fan of loose sand
Quite a good looking RC, isn't it?
I have guys. I think you had a bad one take stay safe
