Ran my RC 12428 on two batteries without greasing the diffs first. Didn't seem to affect the gears. Now they run nice and smooth after the grease. And I was pleasantly surprised to see they were metal wheels in the diff.. Nice vid, bro.
looks like they do put grease in the diffs. the best way to get your shocks working good without letting air in them if they are overfilled, take them off like you did with the spring off and unscrew the top cap a few turns and then slowly push the shock rod up and oil should come out around the shock cap and hold the shaft in then tighten the cap if done correct no air should be inside the shock. 👍👍Good info and video. what one you like better this or the buggy?
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 At LAST 👌👌👌 Amazing Video David; that's what am talking about the others day. Not laziness or whatever; you just pick the car, disassemble it, explained, closer Looks for we can see all what hidden, and then "hands got dirty" setting it up 👌👌👌 Awesome man. The car seems much way better and now you can do a proper run👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌 It seemed an "old school" Tutorial . Great Job Mate. Congrats; that's the way we do it👌 😎😎😎
Nice helpful video Dave.👍 I'll be doing this when mine arrives but it's not going to be easy resisting the urge to try it out straight away, but with no grease on those gears I'll just have to be patient and fix it up first.
Nice one mate! Seen a video of doing this greasing the diffs seems easy if it just taking screws off and diff casing taking out and removing lid of diff and spread enough grease and put back together again even for a newbie I think IL get it going to order a 144010 next week 🙏💚👊
@@PERTHWESTOZRC it looks it brother going to put a phat bodie paint it solid orange and put a gurt wing on aswell mate will get the hang of it with greasing the diffs cheers brother 🙏💚👊
Hey Dave, I just got finished checking mine over and it was a bit of a nightmare. All shocks needed oil removed which was no problem but I found that the lower screw on part where the shaft comes out were all very loose, not even finger tight. Did you check yours? The rear diff was the big issue. It was sticking and jamming when rotating the wheels and when out of the car the usual bead of clean grease was just a smear around the casing and was dark grey, like they put used grease on. As usual none was on the gears. Checking inside there was virtually no grease so I greased it up but it still wasn't smooth and was still jamming. So I cleaned out the grease and on close inspection of the gears I found 2 spider gears with excessive metal lumps sticking out that I then filed off. Now it's reasonably smooth and doesn't jam. I think the whole process of disassembling /reassembling this was more time consuming than any other car I've had, not including the extra time the rear diff took. Anyway it's going pretty good now. Cheers
Wow yours sounded like it was made on a Friday! The lower shock mount screws on this one I have were tight mate, and sorry to hear about the diff's, sounds like a casting issue I guess when they were made...glad to hear you got it sorted 👍🍻
I'm having great trouble taking the cap off the shock. Most videos cut the part where they unscrew the cap. Ah! Trying with hand, spanner and anything I got. Doesn't want to budge.
Hi Daniel, thanks for watching and commenting, this 124018 runs on a brushed motor and electronic speed controller, where as the 124016 runs off a more powerful brushless motor and electronics, otherwise they are the same rc desert buggy 👍
Thanks for sharing this Bro 😉 👍🏽 definitely going to do this when mine will arrive. By the way like the new intro fits very good 👌🏽😊 I saw in your Description about the metal parts does it also fit 💯% on the wltoys 144001 same size? Keep up the good work Bro stay safe ✌️🏽 😎 🏄🏽 🇩🇪
I love taking my apart to check if its all loobed up 😁 fantastic tips , I do the same as you. Thanks for sharing this with us all Dave , great video bro 👍😍😎👍

Great job Dave. No idea why they waste grease by putting it on the diff housing and not on the gears. 🤪🤪. Stay safe and thanks for the video!!
Thanks mate, appreciate you watching this video, yes the way they apply the grease to these in the wrong area baffles me lol 😂
I like the keeping the screws in their holes tip. 👍

Both are great but i think I'll like this one more as its more for off road bashing compared to the buggy

Nice looking buggy. 👍👍👍👍👍great job Dave.
Very interesting info! Once mine arrives I will do for sure. Looking forward to your maiden run !
Hey Dave, I'm new to rc, I had same issues as you. 3 shocks were full. I took a bit out of them. Is it normal that the shocks squeak a bit? Thanks.

@@PERTHWESTOZRC Yeah definitely a casting issue, so I assume other people could get the same problem. I seem to get a lot of Friday made stuff. 😢
I m going to get one now that I know wats inside thanks for sharing Dave cheers bro
Thanks for watching Luis brother, you will like this desert buggy 👍
Good review Dave, looking forward to the run.

You can do it buddy! use pointy nose pliers 😄👍
Hi, sorry I'm a first time subscriber and question asker , what's the difference between this and the 124016 v2(of course)?

Good stuff 👍
Cheers Dan, as you know its a must do prep not only on this RC but the 019 and 144001 buggies also 👍🍻
@@PERTHWESTOZRC yep. I've done it to all of mine.
How do take the diff open
6 screw's on top of each diff casing, very easy
what grease to i put
I use castrol bearing grease in my rc cars and trucks, works well
you should have recorded yourself taking out every screw it would have been a lot more helpful
Haha nah man I hate those kind of time lapse videos, they put me to 😴 its straight forward anyways buddy
i plan to buy this rc, is this good?
Yes it’s great, watch my other videos on it and I have a link in the description with 7% off code to save some more $$ Thanks for watching
