  • My Kobalt air compressor stopped working so it was time to commit to the real deal. I purchased a Polar Air Industrial Plus 7.5 HP Quiet Air Compressor, made by Eaton Compressor. Unfortunately, things haven't gone so well throughout the process. This video concludes the air compressor saga on how I got my hole-e air compressor issue resolved.
    Stuff I use and like that you can use too and support me in the process:
    Leviton 9650-P 50 Amp Plug - amzn.to/3YWbsjo
    Knipex Plier Wrench 3-Piece Set - amzn.to/3L3n3HJ
    1" to 1/4" Brass Fitting (what I should have bought) - amzn.to/3PjT40F
    My Amazon Wishlist (things to help me improve my videos and workflow):

    Hello Gerik, this is Matt Cain, President/CEO of Eaton Compressor. My son passed your video along to me the other day. I am sorry that your original unit had a small pinhole leak in it.
    I just wanted to leave this comment to give your viewers correct info and not hearsay.
    Our tank manufacturer is ASME and CRN certified in the US and Canada. They manufacture our tanks in the United States. Our units are hydro tested at the tank manufacturer. This test is performed by filling the tank up with 95% water and 5% air, which is then tested at 2.5 times working pressure, which equates to about 500psi. The small hole most likely occurred from a welding error at the manufacturer. It is also possible that this small hole was undetected during the manufacturers hydro test.
    Our entire shop is ETL certified. We have a station dedicated to strictly testing our units. The test inspector most likely overlooked this error, which was not detected due to the temporary patch of the small hole due to the powdercoating process. On each unit, there is a silver label on the unit, which shows all specifications of the unit. On this label, there is also the signature of the tester. Our shop is also inspected at random by ETL. Their inspector comes and ensures that our testing process is not being performed incorrectly. So comments about our unit not being tested is completely false.
    As far as the second unit being the wrong size, I do apologize for this error on our behalf.
    My last statement; when you said that whenever you search Polar Air on the internet and only see negative comments, specifically about me being a supposed "jerk", that is an incorrect statement. We have a 4.8 star rating on Google and when you search Polar Air, our parent company, Eaton Compressor pops up with over 20 years of content, which is on the internet for anyone's disposal. How many other companies as big as ours, can request to speak to the owner of the company? I take pride in even giving my personal cell phone to my customers for them to reach me at any time, including weekends and holidays. All somebody needs to do is text me. Its the easiest process that's is a win-win for both sides. If you want to see if this comment holds true, call our company, ask for the receptionist to have me reach out to you, and I will contact you ASAP.
    I am sorry for your unfortunate saga, but at the end of the day, I feel that our company did the right thing. Welcome to the Eaton Compressor family! I hope to do more business in the future.
    Regards,
    Matt Cain
    President/CEO, Eaton Compressor

      Hey Matt - thank you for taking the time to comment on my video. I’ve pinned your comment so viewers will have a chance to see how things work in terms of testing at Eaton.
      Like I go over towards the end of my video, I feel Eaton took good care of me. There was a lot of misfortunate events that piled up, but ultimately it all worked out really well. My situation was definitely a fluke of bad luck than the standard.
      And in regards to that “jerk” stuff - it appeared some very vocal keyboard warriors loved to bring up some incident from a decade ago you got into it with someone on a forum. For whatever reason it kept coming up researching Eaton.

      I'm in the market for a new compressor so many hours of research is in my future. The beginning of this video had me on my heels about giving Eaton a second look. While this whole ordeal would have been a huge blow emotionally and probably financially to me personally, your final effort to resolve the problem was very generous and shows that customer satisfaction is a priority. Well done Matt.

      Nothing in the documentation said I need to and I’m pretty sure I asked Eaton in the process of installing these and no such directions were provided. It’s been running fine for me so far!

      Good to know I see it depends on the manufacture I have a dewalt for home use and an Eaton for the business. Dewalt said to break in so I just automatically did the same with the Eaton.@@gerikbensing

    Not surprising despite the fact their air tanks are literally stored “outside” of their building as seen in the Google Maps 360 Image feed.

      @gerikbensing  4 месяца назад +2

      I just went and looked. If the tanks are sealed up they should theoretically be okay to store outside for awhile since they are painted, but I have a sneaking suspicion both my units have very rusty interiors due to have much rusty moisture comes out of the one I have set up right now.

    i was about to buy one, but now i am hesitant as i am overseas. you would think a company like eaton would test and prep the machines before they are sent out, imo that's terrible service, no amount of chatting on the phone is going to change the set back cause by something that could have been avoided by sales prep..

    • @gerikbensing
      @gerikbensing  5 месяцев назад

      I can’t disagree with you on that one! The stamp on the tank claims it was tested and certified and there is even someone’s name on it. This was by a vendor that supplies the tanks, not Eaton themselves. I’d have to assume this is a one-off incident, but it’d be worth calling and seeing if they can hook it up and make sure all is good before shipping it. Though as an international buyer I don’t know if there is much advantage to buying Eaton vs something like Ingersoll Rand

    Does the 80gal unit have any vibration to it? I have the same unit and it has a bit of shake more than the norm. they sent me a new flywheel thinking it was the issue but it still shakes some. They looked at units in the assembly line and said it was normal. Just wondering if that is true or not.

      @@user-xe2zj3tj8j you can upload it right to RUclips real easily from the app or on desktop. If you figure it out, let me know and I'll check it out. I'm pretty "vibration sensitive", so I'd probably have noted a vibration if I had one. I'd guess you have some issue that's not being addressed, unfortunately.

    Is the 120 gal 3phase or single phase ?

    • @gerikbensing
      @gerikbensing  2 месяца назад +1

      They have a single and three phase version. Mine is single phase requiring 240V and a 50A outlet (7.5HP motor).
