Dude I was so charged after last video that I got a little bummed that I presumably had to wait a while for it to be done. I couldn’t believe it when I got the notification for this video drop. As a fellow resident of Connecticut it makes me feel good to have Tommy as the face of our state within the JDM space. Atta boy tom, atta boy. Now it’s time for a trip to englishtown. We all want to know, quarter time times as well as raging around the racetrack.

I was wondering this exactly. engine just seemed to slide in like it should always have been. Would love to see a more in depth view of how each peice of this swap is either a direct replacement or modified to fit.
I worked at a vw/Audi specialist for a couple years and it’s crazy the amount of stuff you can just swap over from vw/Audi/Skoda/seat. They’re basically like Lego’s. Even some Porsche and Lamborghini parts will bolt on😂

The different between Tommy and rudnik is Tommy announce a build for his next car and it’s done with in a couple of videos Chris has about 10 builds but instead of finishing any of them just buys another Miata cause it’s a great deal dude
I like the fact you teased this for the last couple weeks with the secret project talk and did the videos this way where it was introduce it, have some quick fun and then boom swap done and not just 2-3 maybe 4 videos over the span of two weeks with little updates here and there

Think I’m gonna have to take a trip up to Connecticut in a couple years. I think a DSG DAZA R would pair nicely with my 6MT GTI. Got me abandoning plans to go hybrid turbo on the GTI and looking at copart RS3s as the next move.
This swap is cool to see, I love it when people step outside the box… however I’m left a little confused, as an Aussie, I see golf r’s daily they are by far the most common “hot hatch”. An rs3 on the other hand is far less common and just nicer all round. No shade at all but is it different in the US? Logic tells me to just get an rs3 hatch and put the money towards another crazy project instead of just making a solid car a little better for such a large expense. Each to their own, I respect it, just genuinely intrigued by the motivation.
You should do voomeran fender flares and aero. The flares will allow you to fit a slightly wider wheel and tire to help with grip since these cars have a tough time fitting anything over an 8.5 wide wheel
Golf and A3 are the same car underneath, including more budget friendly makes like Skoda and Seat that are only sold in Europe. The Audi has higher trims and motors availabe obviously and overall has nicer interior. Passat and A4/S4/RS4 is the same, and the list goes all the way up to Porsche Cayenne/VW Toureg/Audi Q7, Audi R8 and Huracan/Gallardo.

Hey had a question abt the seat swap, want to do something similar in my GTI. How did you wire the PODS module. From my understanding, from looking at the wiring diagram, there are 4 wires going from the chassis connector to the PODS in the seat on the GTI but only 2 for the rs3

I have seen a lot of people do this swap. I want to know how much it causes. I have a 2013 A3 Avant and would love to do the RS3 swap. Just looking at this seems a bit much for a home garage project. Only 1 thing no one shows is the wiring which I heard is the biggest pain.
I have always said they should have put the DAZA in the Golf R but the answer I would always get from my VW reps is that it would have taken away from the RS3 and TTRS sales.
I hope they welded/painted some tube steel or something in that motor mount access hole they cut in the frame rails. Would go a long way to keep the structural rigity in and moisture out.
How Tommy managed to have multiple crossover videos and not drop nuggets of this swap is awesome. That or this is literally that bolt in, and this shop did it in a weekend, lol.
There’s a guy over here in the uk called Tom Parker he’s got a 930hp rs3 swapped golf R done it exactly the same in terms of swapping haldex, subframes etc worth checking out to see the potential

How much more difficult would it be to swap the RS3 rear-end/subframe in, with the rest of the drivetrain, on an mk6 Golf R, vs the newer mk7 R? I'm sure it's easier with the MQB chassis...

I’ve been dreaming of a build similar to this for a while. I have a 2018 Chevy Cruze hatch with the stock 1.4t, it’s slow and has very little torque - but I want to turn it into a rally car 😈. I looked at a whole ton of engine options that could possibly fit the tiny crammed engine bay and landed on the 2.5L TFSI from the RS3/TT RS. I didn’t even realize that a swap into a golf had already been done, so cool!

We only get the sedan version of the rs3 here in the states unfortunately.

They probably swapped them too. Very common when you swap to bigger brakes from higher trim models. Like putting ///M brakes on Non M BMW's.

Man that turbo on the rs3 swap was pretty good size for a stock turbo.. iv done a lot of stuff with s3’s but never had a rs3 is the shop

I’ve been dreaming of a build similar to this for a while. I have a 2018 Chevy Cruze hatch with the stock 1.4t, it’s slow and has very little torque - but I want to turn it into a rally car 😈. I looked at a whole ton of engine options that could possibly fit the tiny crammed engine bay and landed on the 2.5L TFSI from the RS3/TT RS. I didn’t even realize that a swap into a golf had already been done, so cool!

I'd never buy a Nissan or anything Japanese, or even a bmw. But Tommy just touched my heart with this build. I only drive vw/audi but I love the quality of builds his shop produces. Also I've been here since the chopshop so he's always had high standards. Need to see some cyclones in this car!!

What’s the cost on this swap or somthing similar my 18r just hit 140k miles and I’m thinking of swapping something else in like A 3.2l or 3.6l and doing a turbo or going this route and doing an rs3 swap
