Sweden has some of the best folk music
when you search for swedish folk music viking midi songs mostly show up. thank you for bringing light to the darkness
Thanks! Viking music seems to be popular at the moment 😄 Happy you like our version of this tune. I'm Norwegian myself, but I live just off the Swedish border. Norwegian and Swedish traditional music share a lot of similarities.
Den ljusa hallingen - The Bright Hall. They live up to the name!
There is so much more to the treasure of Swedish folk music than dark, ambient viking music. A treasure mostly lost through globalism now.
@@carpetclimber4027I see this sentiment a lot on Irish music videos like "wah wah foreigners are ruining my countries music" brother you're watching a video of your countries music, stop whining or learn to play it yourself if you wanna keep it alive
Sitting on my Swedish sofa in England enjoying this tune

Det är fint at också ha en en del Nordmän med oss i sangen.
Hei SKÅL!
its lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It reminds me traditional music from the greek islands, Greetings from Athens
Cool! Would love to learn Moree about Greek music!
Hello Anders. Well here I have a proposal from a Greek composer who I really like and his name is Nikos Mamangakis. The song is called Erotokritos and is inspired by an important poetic work called Erotokritos (more information can be found here (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erotokritos). I would describe it as a classical piece with strong elements of traditional Cretan music (The Cretan lyre is also used as an instrument here.) I hope you like it.! Fotis.

Hei, kul at du likte den! Har di lært denne enda? ;)
Kanske inte helt, men till större del. Ska ta ut ackorden och se om det går att göra något snyggt arr med dem och melodin på bouzouki
Sweet music and video. Thanks for this.
Happy you enjoyed it! Do you play any Scandinavian music yourself?
@@AndersLillebomusic I have recorded a couple Swedish pieces on solo guitar. My claim to fame is that I gave Annbiorg Lien a banjo lesson once. :-)

@@AndersLillebomusic Thank you for replying. All four of you are gifted musicians, and all together you're a great band... powerful rhythm guitar, excellent violin, tasty octave mandolin (my instrument!) and wonderfully musical percussion. I'm an instant fan!
@@c.a.t.732 Thanks so much! It was an impromptu session while preparing for a local show last summer. Exited to hear that you're playing the octave mandolin, that's a fun instrument!
@@AndersLillebomusic I realize now that you're the rockin' guitar player in the video.. kudos. And I wanted to say I've now discovered your podcast from the link provided above, and am really enjoying it. Thanks for all you do, from a new fan in California!
Hey there Anders, this is so beautiful. Would it be ok to play this song or others on my podcast with credit and links to your video? I am currently doing a series on various elements of Scandinavian culture [topics like folklore, mythology, viking blacksmithing, archeology, hunting, Norwegian fiddle] and love to add beautiful fitting music. Thank you! My podcast is called Our Numinous Nature.
It's 4:24am here and i need to finish my assignment till 7am
Why does it remind me of the frozen heart from Frozen
Beautifully done! How do you have your guitar tuned for this?
Thanks 🙂 DADGAD
0:49 ! ! ! !
It’s similar to Polish folk music Polonaise.
That's interesting. Don't know much about Polish music, would love to learn more!
@@AndersLillebomusic
I’m Irish and I recognize a lot of cultures in the music.
The Celts settled in Bohemia 8th century + were driven out by Germanic tribes.
If you listen to Irish button accordion player Sharon Shannon, she plays a varied mix beginning with Irish folk music, + a number of musical influences, including reggae, cajun music, Portuguese music, and French Canadian music.
There is a lot of Swedish + Portuguese if you put your ear to her debut album in 1991 ‘Sharon Shannon’ 🎶 ❤️
@@wallybingbang7359 That's interesting stuff. Fascinating to think about how elements of our different cultures go back so far in time!
Hi,could you tell me where this piece came from? It's a traditional melody :)?
Hi, thanks for watching! Yes, it's a traditional fiddle tune from the western part of Sweden
