- We had precisely one day exploring Battambang in Cambodia. Our second destination. We had beautiful weather, so it was perfect for a scooter ride around this city.
Battambang is big city and you can see many things around.
We visited Wat Phnom Ek on the north of Battambang and after Banan Hill temple, which was a beautiful bat cave at sunset.

I’m glad you like it, actually there’s another bat caves behind the mountain which you could see sunset, and two more mountains but to see it you have to climb the hill and it’s pretty fun.

Phnom Sampov(the hill that has the bat cave) also has the killing cave that the Khmer Rouge used to dump corpses of their victims. BTB was the province that had the most casualities during the Khmer Rouge Era. The KR government had the policies to produce as much rice as possible, and BTB has known to be the main producer of rice. So the KR forced many People in BTB to work on the fields. Mass killings also took place here as well. My grandaunt was evacuated to BTB at that time. One time, she told me her story of how she witnessed KR soldiers killing infants. They would throw the baby up and point their guns up so the infants would fall and stabbed by the sharp knife on their guns. She said they took pleasure in killing those infants. My grandaunt all of her family members (her husband and two daughters) due to starvation.
