- The release of a recent portrait of the Princess of Wales has stirred controversy, as some have criticised it for looking nothing like her.
The artwork, painted by British-Zambian artist Hannah Uzor, is showcased in the upcoming issue of Tatler magazine.
It was crafted as a tribute to the Princess's bravery and grace when revealing her cancer diagnosis.
Critiques suggest that the painting fails to honour the princess.
Some commentators argue that a genuine likeness cannot be achieved in a portrait without the princess being sat there.
The magazine stated that the portrait drew inspiration from Kate's attire at the inaugural state banquet of Charles' reign in November 2022.

Unfortunately, this drawing is not a portrait at all, as it does not capture Catherine's natural beauty and the light that radiates from her eyes. This looks more like a school child's attempt at a drawing of her. It certainly shouldn't be publicly displayed as depicting her. It's an insult.

The painting of the Princess looks nothing like her. The painting of the King is still up for debate. He captured the likeness of his face but the background takes away from the overall picture. The hands are very skeletal like, they are very disturbing.

People are criticizing it because it's hideous! Not only does it look nothing like the Princess of Wales, it is so poorly executed that it looks like a freshman high school student painted it in art class. I honestly thought it was a joke the first time I saw it. Say what you want about King Charles' recent portrait, that would be a matter of taste in art and not liking the color or modern art, but nobody could question the artist's abilities. The King's face was exquisitely done as was the whole painting. This one of Catherine is childishly done, even the blue sash is poorly painted.

The artist needs to work on painting faces. The portrait is not honoring Catherine's bravery and fortitude if we all have to question who the face represents. Tatler should be ashamed unless their agenda was to discredit the Princess. And if THAT'S the case, they should be sued. My 8 year-old grandchild paints faces better than this.

I guess there is no chance that this YT channel will ever show respect to Catherine as Princess of Wales and stop using her maiden name. The portrait is certainly not recognizable and is disappointing. But the artist has made it clear that she respects and admires the Princess -- unlike this YT channel.

@@judepicton6252 Just going by the artist's public comments about what she was trying to show. She said she admired the Princess's grace, courage, and elegance and her commitment to her children. If she had meant something sinister, she would have been less forthcoming. After all, she depends on commissions for a living, so she will be circumspect. Hope so, anyway!

Princess Catherine is beautiful and graceful and there are thousands of gorgeous photos of her. This painting is atrocious and does not do the Stunning Princess Justice. It’s laughable really as it does in no way resemble Princess Catherine. Please a REAL ARTIST do a authentic painting !!!

Artist failed - should of been a throw away slash/burn. Not everything an artist paints should be shown. The work is poorly done and looking like a beginner painted it. Work was flat, no texture , no life, mottled colours. Pure garbage in my opinion.
