This is so nice :)) Thank you so much for uploading this! I'm from Frankfurt but my parents are Ethiopian's from adigart (near mekele) and i will be flying to ethiopia next year for the first time of my life so i am very excited :D
Great video mate! Just superb footage... All DHC-8s delivered from Bombardier after '97 are prefixed with the "Q" for quite. Meaning that aircraft is fitted with noise suppression to avoid excessive exterior and interior noise. A truly unique aircraft in my opinion. Keep up the great work mate!.!.! and PLEASE upload more! :)
Oooooh! Homer on a turboprop! Something new! Yes, when I went on a turboprop for the first time this year, I didn't realise how quiet it actually is! I would have thought it was louder! Anyways, great vid as always!
Homer, another excellent video, quite different from your usual haunts. Was it work related reason for your visit to this far flung corner of Africa?? The plane looks quite comfortable and yes, we could tell by watching your video that this is a new aircraft. Anyway thank you again. Check out SFflyer's homage to you... ha ha ha! Your biggest fan from Hong Kong.
@hoho657chan Yes, it was work related..and thank you very much for reminding me of our friend sfflyer..will check it tonight. Best greetings to Hong Kong!
I flew from Venice to Belgrade (via Vienna) with a bombardier like the one on your video (Austrian Airlines): quite noise, but it isn't too bad for a short trip nice video as usual :-)
bircruz, there were cars in Ethiopia long before the 1930s, Ethiopia is also the first nation in Africa to have telephone lines. The northern part of Ethiopia is mountainous, the southern, eastern and the west are low land. Yes Ethiopian Airlines will be 70 years old in June 2015 at the same time when it starts flying to Dublin and Los Angeles.
@19bootsy68 Hi my friend: I agree. Africa is a wonderful place..I am just back from Tanzania, including a day in the Serengeti:) Security in Ethiopia is great, no problem..nothing compared to places like..I better stop here, lol. Even the Ethiopian lounge was nice by African standards. Limited food though, and no self service bar..but a friendly service delivering you a glass of South African red. Overall, Ethiopia is a soecial place, with a great cultural heritage..and special problems, too.
The first wheels many Ethiopians ever saw were fitted under airplane wings. The country is so mountainous and rugged (Roof of Africa) that air service was necessary. Ethiopian Airlines is almost 70 years old. Airplanes appeared on the Ethiopian Highlands in the 1930s.
ahhhh ;-) zur Abwechslung mal weiter hinten gesessen, statt immer auf seat 2 B ;-) Was macht man denn so in Mekelle, wenn man sonst üblicherweise zwischen den Hauptstädten der Welt hin und her pendelt?
@ homer3152, thanks for this nice video again, please correct the last word about the flag, the very first one is ETHIOPIAN flag & next to it, that's TIGRAY'S flag.
homer3152 hi Homer, it's about the flag on this nice video, you said you sorry for the mistake but still didn't correct it, is that a little difficult to edit and re post this video ?
Another good one, Homer!! Good to have you back!!

Intro song was Endietnshe and the end song was Better Not Knowing. Both preformed by Nati Haile
@19bootsy68 It was about 1 hour, my friend..and it was relatively cheap, though I dont remember the cost..it was paid for me:)

It's clearly seen, it was Ethiopian flag, not Tigray's flag ... The nex one is Tigray's flag , correct it!
Sorry for the mistake
Not a problem :), I love flight, airplanes and making videos from or outside of z airplane, your video is lovely, pls don't make it short :)
@ homer3152, thanks for this nice video again, please correct the last word about the flag, the very first one is ETHIOPIAN flag & next to it, that's TIGRAY'S flag.
