Your channel is about the only reseller one that I watch anymore because I trust that you know what you are doing, and there is no hype and BS, like found on some of the other channels. I have learned, and continue to learn so much from you, so thank you. Long time viewer from Garage Flips days. Btw, I have loved seeing the Topper Dawn dolls. I forgot about those until seeing them here. I loved those dolls more than Barbie, not sure why, lol.
Also, I've done the same thing Lonnie mentioned with disclosures. I often go back to my item double-checking (after the sale goes through) that I did a thorough job of describing the item. My thought is that I always prefer a buyer to be happily surprised with the condition of an item. I want them to open it and think "This is nicer than I expected!"
If any of the buyers of the dog stuff are RUclips watchers, wish they’d send you pics of their dogs in the clothes. Especially the one with mom tattoo.
I buy all my tissue paper at dollar store. Good size packs for $1 (!). Can't beat that price anywhere. Same price for colored paper which is fun to use sometimes.
I am so grateful for what I have learned from you two. I ordered 2 4T shirts on separate orders. I received an empty plastic bag that was open on one side. I contacted the seller. He said someone had gotten the shirts out of my mailbox. I then contacted eBay. Had to wait to ask for a refund. They denied it. I then sent pictures of the bag. Shortly got a reversal and have received a refund along with an apology.
QUESTION: I’ve been a reseller off and on for decades, mostly as a hobby but always with the desire to go full time. I work full time at a screen print shop and it can be stressful. Yes, printing shirts can be stressful. Sometimes VERY stressful. What is your guys’ stress level compared to when you worked outside the home? None at all? Minimal? Do you ever have the thought… ugh, I don’t wanna go to work today?
I have certain categories I gravitate towards at a sale, but I also like buying & selling smalls, so I tend to pay close attention to tables covered in small items or items in ziploc bags or small boxes. But I also love finding something I've never seen at a sale before. Typically if someone asks if I'm looking for something, I tend to give fairly general answers, but what we've found works well in our area is simply chatting items up with one another or with the sellers. Things like telling a seller, "Oh, I had one of these as a kid", or I might call over to my husband, holding something up and saying "Look at this! It's blah, blah, blah.", and that tends to get people offering up anything similar they think we may also like. 🙂
14:10 In the case of CDs and Vynil, I add to the grading that it is only visual. If DVDs are badly scratched, I test them and add the grading with the note that they have been tested. I generally mention light and minor scratches. So if you don't have the necessary system to test games, I would mention that the condition was only visually graded.
Hey Guys, Great advice on whether or not to disclose testing of video game systems. I often don’t have the systems to test the games that I purchase, i usually disclose untested but I might take your advice moving forward. I always refund if they don’t work. Thanks for the great videos, I try to model my part-time reselling business Similar to yours.
I completely agree with you on descriptions, particularly of Condition Issues (that's what I call them.) I would far rather over describe the faults in an item than not. As a buyer, I've been burned too many times because what I think is "Good" or "Great" condition (with very little detail) is FAR different than what sellers thought! I've received some "Good" items that I would have rated as "Barely sellable" to "I wouldn't even bother listing this." And I'm sure that such sensitivity is much, much greater with collectors! I know what collectors are looking for (generally) in my big categories, and I'm not afraid to do some research on items that are fairly uncommon for me to sell. I also keep info on my computer about "grading terms" for different category, because "Excellent" for a postcard isn't close to that grade for a comic book, or an LP. I might get slightly sugary in the main description, but in the condition description, it's short, sweet, and to the point, even if "short" means multiple paragraphs. like your example with the doll. That level of detail is *exactly* what I want to see in items I'm buying for myself, and after receiving doll in good order, I'd be quick to tell my collector friends where I found it. It's also worth noting that - as you build up a reputation as a truthful and detail oriented seller - you can justify slightly higher prices, because your buyers know up-front that you are selling them a better value product! That seems to be what the "I made a million dollars on ebay in just 30 days" salesmen tend to forget: the quality of the seller, and the quality of the product. They forget that you make more $ on that customer's SECOND (and further) purchase, because you have not had to pay to get them into your store. (Also known as "It's cheaper to keep a customer than it is to get a customer.")
As usual I learned a couple more things. Thanks much! I asked recently if you participated in any of the eBay Open (didn't really think you would waste the time) I learn more watching your videos than I could watching a month of eBay Open! And, no rah rah....lol.
I went to the Reseller Rally in Cincinnati and Joel from American Bubble Boy was there. He told me that he really didn’t expect to sell so much tape and had severely underestimated how much to buy. Trying to play catch up now.
It has taken a few years, but I have accumulated lots of used systems from sourcing that I use for testing. I don't sell a large volume, so it doesn't take much time, and sometimes it's fun to play the games. But, if it's a system I don't have, the game doesn't get tested and I just hope for the best.
I know Lonnie was a little bit sceptical because of the collars. But I’m thinking that dog coat deal might be one of your best when you look at it and in total.
I'm not 100% sure on this, but I might argue that one could resize a Flat Rate box, IFF one is assuming that doing so cancels the flat rate. So if it's a Flat Rate Priority Mail box and I frankenboxed it to a different size, I'd be using it as a regular priority mail box. The next time I'm in the post office, I'll ask that question and see what they say. I have a very friendly front desk crew at my local PO.
10 gallon bags: when I use such bags, I like to keep wrapping the excess around the item, then tape it where the bag ends. Depending on the bag’s excess, it can achieve two protective layers of bag around the item, rather then rolling it into a wad.
??? Love watching your videos I always learned so much. I've had my eBay store for about 6 years now & was profitable but in April my sales tanked and never re-cooped. I hear some resellers say heavy listing no longer helps that it could actually slow your sell through rate, but I also hear other resellers say keep listing listing listing. Some reports smaller stores are doing better than the bigger stores, while some say that's not true 🤔 What's your take on the situation? I've pivoted my store from listing less to listing more, I've audited my store got rid of stale stuff, but sales still suck. I just opened a niche store to see how that goes. I am a sell anything on my first store.
Lonnie was wondering what are the actual costs of cross listing items. For example if an item is listed on eBay for $10 what would be the net profit be just selling on eBay and net profit including cross listing fees and costs.
15:00 Game cartridges are quite hardy. Of the hundreds I've handled, short of something that got wet and corroded, I've only had two outright failures. Isopropyl Alcohol & Q-Tips on the contacts, clean the surfaces, and you're 99% good. If the kid's name is Sharpied on it, alcohol will take it off.
Hi Lonnie, my son and I are starting to resell on eBay, he lives 26 miles away in Ravenna Ohio and I live in Richmond Hts,Ohio we can get some really bad weather can we designate how many days we will ship within! It usually clears up in a day or 2 but I might not be able to drive there sometimes! He will do most of the listing and I will do most of the shipping.
Question: If you could make loads of money off the wallet sized items the ones hanging up in the pockets by the camera desk would you get rid of everything and just have a shed full of small items or would you carry on as normal.
Record pack: was surprised to see you put the extra cardboard under the record. The bubble wrap was gapped on the top and the closure seam on the record mailer was also on top, effectively leaving the front of the record more exposed. Seems like it would be better to flip the record face down on the bubble sheet and the full mailer bottom or do what you did, but put the extra layer of scrap cardboard where the bubble gaps, under the top mailer seam to better protect the front of the record.
Both Grand Slams🎉🎉 🤑😇💕 any of the two finds will have anybody hooked on hitting the garage sales for LIFE 🤑😅 Awesome both of you hit them on the same day 😇😇💪💪 I believe Candice Pyrex Score due to rarity, cost and shipping fees will be more profitable then the ink , But Best loss for Lonnie 🥂 hits a grand slam and Candice hits a out of the park grand slam 🎉🎉🎉🎉 ON THE SAME DAY 😇🙏 GREAT THINGS HAPPEN TO GREAT PEOPLE!!!
You should not waste your EBay allowance on tissue paper, I always buy at Dollar Tree 30/$1.25 way better price, I also buy stretch wrap on a stick to wrap around the Bubblewrap item and saves a lot of tape. 😊
Hah...at my vets the technician gives shot or nose spray and dog never sees doctor...volume pass through...:-)...you are having a good fall..hope holiday sales fall in line...
Hi Candice hi Lonnie, question for you (mostly Lonnie I guess): What if, during the time of discussion if Candice would quit her job and join the Shed, she said she would only join you in the shed if she is never on the videos (assuming she's never been on the videos before and hates to be on video). What would you have done? Stop RUclips at all, try to make sure to keep her out of the videos (or even let her film if she likes) or maybe even go so far and tell her that without the videos she can't join the Shed? Thank you and greetings from Germany.
You can spell out the perfect description of an item, BUT buyers rarely read it... I even put FLAW in the description... I am getting a return on an item with a fully disclosed crack in stone, priced $40 less than those with flawless stones (which is rock bottom pricing)... buyer never read the description or looked at the obvious photo of a cracked center stone... The buyer got the item, filed a return as item defective.. no ship sherlock!!!! He emailed me saying he is a collector and can't have a crack... my answer was, why do you think it was $40 cheaper then the others (of course ifn a very professional and non confrontational way)??? I mean I literally put FLAW in the title. Then in 2 places noted the flaw and took pictures of the flaw in different lighting. So you can disclose all you want, but if a buyer doesn't read it... it is useless. I usually ask before I ship if they saw the flaw, many times it is "no" but thanks and I would like to cancel. Better than me having to pay for return shipping, and having a "defective item" on my record.
i just sold a canon rebel camera that I assumed worked but didn't want to buy a battery to test it. well turns out it doesn't work. refund en route to the buyer
LOVE Candice’s “driver picks the music” shirt 🤣
Thanks! Love Supernatural! -Candice

I learn so much from your posts. Learned so much about cutting boxes to size! Valuable

Love the cardboard insert idea for the vinyl. I usually just sammie vinyl in between 2 sheets of bubble. Awesome POV! 😜

It's vinyl, not vynil. 😮
Thanks for answering my question! Enjoy you guys and your interactions with each other. Thanks again!

I buy tissue paper after Christmas at 90% off. I don't care about colors just nothing with foil patterns and especially no glitter
Instead of having a storage unit, how about getting a second shed for storage?
That is a great description. A buyer would feel very confident buying from you.
As usual I learned a couple more things. Thanks much! I asked recently if you participated in any of the eBay Open (didn't really think you would waste the time) I learn more watching your videos than I could watching a month of eBay Open! And, no rah rah....lol.

Love Candace's shirt. Supernatural Fan. You two sometimes giggle alike.
I've never noticed that!
Nice sales! Still love the packing! Thanks
Thank you!
I can tell how long you have been packaging items in this video. Thanks for the tips and tricks!
Just going off your title. Always! If you don't then it will come back and haunt you in the end-sometime.

From hearing chatter in the reseller community, there's no rhyme or reason as to why one seller has had slow sales compared to the next one.
I like long format!
Thank you!

Yes you can change your handling time. Although, he should at least be familiar with how to ship just in case.
you should take the vinyl record out of the sleeve. Otherwise it will bang around and cause seam splits on the cover.
Question: If you could make loads of money off the wallet sized items the ones hanging up in the pockets by the camera desk would you get rid of everything and just have a shed full of small items or would you carry on as normal.

Hi guys. Can you say if you guys promote your listings and by how much? Thanks.
Would the HP Ink Cartridge have fit into 1 or 2 USPS shoe boxes(if going priority)?
Can you show us how to use the quarterly coupon? I forget and can't find it....❤

Hey y’all. When you ship high dollar stuff like the topper dolls, do you purchase extra insurance to cover the extra price? Just wondering.
Yes generally we do for anything over $100
What size poly mailer did you put Payton in?
Paddington? A really big one like 16 x 10 or something close to that

No, if it's over a pound, we do buyer pays shipping and bake the cost of shipping into the price.
