    Thank you for doing this, I have the exact same setup but haven't tested it yet due to snow here in Norway. I'm very happy with the results with the dead cat and lowered gain. FINALLY can we do a motovlog without the annoying cord and receiver.

    Damn, with the gain set to -5 that sounds really really good. Love how the Mic 2 doesn’t require a receiver to be used with the action 4. Think I may go with this same setup for my POV driving videos…

      @MainJet158  9 месяцев назад

      Because the mic is almost touching my mouth and it's inside my helmet, -5 works well.

    The problem is: DJI Mic 2 turn off after 10-15 mim of non use. If you need recording again, you have to turn on mic2 and OA4 and wait connection.

    • @MainJet158
      @MainJet158  9 месяцев назад +1

      After reading your comment I did a quick test. After bluetooth connection with A4 and Mic2 I started recording and stopped 30 seconds later. After 25 minutes I started recording again and no problems. Then I shut the camera completely off and after 15 minutes the mic shut off. You are correct.
      For long rides with a lot of gaps between recordings I would probably go with the DJI 3.5mm mic adapter and a lav mic. I've had great success with that setup and the wireless mic isn't always the best option.

    For me gain 0 sounded the best since it nicely captured the ambient sound of your bike while keeping your voice still very clear. By the way, how did you mount you mic 2 inside your helmet?

      Thank you and the Action 4 with the Mic 2 have worked great and today I went to the MX track and also used the wrist remote. Everything works great together. I did notice that if I leave the wrist remote on when I try to link the camera to my phone to review a video, they won't sink together until I turn the wrist remote off.
      Once I figured that out, no issues

    I think it's a perfect sound 👍 But if I drive a long trip and take many short shots, the time between shots is long, do I have to reconnect the mic and the camera every time? That would be a pain in the butt. Am I right?
    Thanks for the video!

      In my short time using it that has not been the case. Each time I start filming the camera and mic sink up very quickly without me doing anything. Pouring rain again so I'm stuck in the house on my day off.

    Hi, I would like to use the DJI Mic 2 for motovlogging, but I have a question. Do I just pair the transmitter (mic) with my Insta360 X4, and that's it, or do I also need to connect the DJI receiver to the X4? I read that you get worse audio quality without the receiver. Also, with the transmitter inside the helmet, would it be better to connect a lavalier mic to it? Thanks

    • @MainJet158
      @MainJet158  6 месяцев назад +1

      I don't have the Insta 360 so I don't know if the mic2 will pair up without the receiver. I use the mic2 inside my helmet without a lav mic and as you herd the audio was really good on my second test. I also don't use a receiver. Try the Insta 360 site and see if someone there can answer your question. By now you might even be able to find a youtube video about that.

      @@MainJet158 Yeah, the DJI Mic 2 can be paired with the Insta360 X4, that's no problem. The thing is, as far as I know, it's better to use the receiver for higher-quality audio. Additionally, having a lavalier mic inside the helmet would greatly improve the audio. Anyway as you said your audio was pretty good without the receiver or lavalier, I agree. Thanks for finding that video :) Cheers!

    A reviewer out of the UK put magnetic tape inside the front of his helmet and could put the Mic 2 on that to "attach" it. Don't know if it would work for you but it a relatively cheap solution... if it works.

    which settings did you use?
    And can you get good sound from the exhaust when the microphone is under the seat?

    • @MainJet158
      @MainJet158  10 месяцев назад +1

      I'm using 24bit audio with noise cancellation off and the gain set at -5db. Since 95% of my riding is motocross or off road I would never put the mic under the seat do to the possibility of dirt, mud, or water getting into it. My goal has always been to limit engine noise because motocross bikes are loud and cause a lot of distortion. Finding a setup that gives me clear audio when I speak, reduce or eliminate wind noise, and eliminate the distortion from engine noise has been my challenge. I think I may have finally found the setup I'm looking for. A good motocross test will be next.

    Is there any issues with "cold" start? When camera is off and you press the record button? Mic succeeds to keep up?)

    • @MainJet158
      @MainJet158  10 месяцев назад +1

      If the mic power is on and the camera power is completely off and I hit the camera record button there is a 15 to 30 second delay before the mic and camera sync up. During that delay the camera mic is active and then it will switch to the wireless mic. There will be a difference in the sound volume on the video when the camera starts on one mic and then switches to the other. I have my camera set to not power down for 30 minutes so if I hit the record button within that 30 minute period there isn't a delay.

      Did you notice how bluetooth connection with mic 2 discharges the camera?

    • @MainJet158
      @MainJet158  10 месяцев назад

      I think you are asking if the camera battery life is shorter when using the bluetooth mic connection. I have not noticed a reduction in battery life but I have not done any long rides. I tend to change batteries when the current battery drops below half just to make sure I don't miss anything.

    How long does the Mic 2 last?

    • @MainJet158
      @MainJet158  8 месяцев назад +1

      Never tested that but it lasts far longer than 3 fully charged camera batteries for my Action 4. The night before I go to the track or just out for a dual sport ride I charge everything up. The mic and the wrist remote are not even a concern because I know I will use my camera batteries up long before them. I know I have gone through 6 fully charged camera batteries and the mic still had plenty of charge left. If you were to use the mic's 32 bit float feature then that could change but I don't know that.
