Motorcyclist here, and a VERY new Action 4 user….thanks for your clear and concise vids, I’ll,look around for more. I’m not going to create masterful action vids but coming from DSLR’s and currently using a Ricoh GR I’m excited for the content I could create with the DJI. Going by current reviews the Action4 is much better than the GoPro hence my purchase!
Nice video as always Rob, but i strongly recommend to switch to Davinci Resolve… a Color space transform node, another node to tweak saturation/contrast/sharpness and it’s done!
Just got mine today and wow, its way smaller than I expected it to be, id never seen an action cam so I don't know if they're all that small but loving it so far
Thanks! I could not decide on which camera to get. I thought the Action 4 was superior to Hero 12 in every way, except I just love that GoPro color profile. Now I can have both!
Hello friend, thank you for your video, could you tell me the complete configuration you use when recording on the motorcycle, what quality, what stabilizer, what field of view and the options you put on everything. thank you.
So use these settings on my 4 it’s my first action cam so a complete beginner &being 58 not very tech savvy 😬. I’ve never used a video editing tool so wanna have best possible results with minimal,if any messing around or at least till I get better Dji try’s to get me to use their editing sweet but I want simple and easy , I’ve subscribed as watched lots of your content to make my mind up which one to purchase in the first place 👍. I’ll be all on motorbike to start with , I’m not planning on utubing my videos they are for my benefit only .thanks again for the reasonably easy to follow content 🏍👍🎉🎉
good day, could you please advise me on the settings for the dji osmo action 4 for traveling and riding a motorcycle even on light terrain, I can also set it manually, I would like it to be more colorful. video and I wouldn't have to edit anymore thank you
Do you color correct each footage in one video? Or apply in all footages? For example, one footage your on a sunny day and one in a cloudy day. Can you do a video on how do you do it? Thanks!
It depends. Usually i apply adjustment layer to all clips, then adjust the highlights and shadows as i go through, to make sure that none of the clips are clipping in the highlights and shadows. And then i add my signature luts at the end to make them pop 👌
Could you please help me out on this: All my recordings including photos and videos have mirror effect. I want to disable it. Not able to fix it as I am a beginner.
Got an osmo action4 . To replace a gopro to use on my motorcycle helmet mainly as a dashcam type thing or if i see anything interesting.. Gopro was a let down in reliably recording all footage. Looking forward to using soon and night footage looks great. Also looking forward to playing about with 10bit same as i did with my drones footage
I have one other question, I edit on iPad Pro with LumaFusion. The only way I can get the video files to the iPad Pro is to download them over wifi in the DJI app. I have tried my Apple SD card reader and the USB C Cable that came with the DJI. The card and camera are recognized, but show empty when I’m in the iOS photo app to import. With my recordings from GoPro I would put the SD card reader in the iPad, open photos, it sees the card and I can select the videos and press import. Have you experienced this?
@@RobHK Ok that works. I went into the files app and then browsed the videos files which were in a folder on the SD card. Then I can select the video file, hit share on the bottom left and then press “save video” on the menu. It showed up in my iPad photo library then. Thank you! 😀👍
great video. I see you're in Europe, yet you're shooting in 30fps. Any reason you went with that, instead of 25 or 50? Especially since you can clearly see the dashboard is flickering. I just wonder whether you're in the same boat as me. For slower moving scenes, 25fps might be more than enough, but when riding my motorbike I feel like I need a little bit more. 30 it's almost perfect, but it brings the flickering. 50 would be the obvious next choice, but that would put extra pressure on the camera, bigger files, change batteries more often, etc.. So not sure if I should stick with 30 and just accept the flickering or go with 50. What do you do when you're on your bike? but then again.. I don't yet have a insta360, although planning to get one in the footer, I heard they only do 30fps max, so it wouldn't work well in post to mix 50fps with 30fps footage. What do you recommend?
Pal/ntsc means nothing. Only to your tv whether you’re in eu/us. Flickering is the bike…….not the video…. Its the rpm which is set lower by default until the first 1k km….
@@RobHK Not really. I've been playing with this for the last couple of days, and 25/50 which is standard for EU/UK (PAL) works normal as it should, but whenever I switch to 30/60, you get quite a few car brake lights & headlights, not all of them, I think mainly newer cars, LED lights, but most of them, they start to flicker, which is annoying and distracting. So do you always shoot in 30fps on your bike?
Thanks for sharing your settings for the Action 4. And for color correction tutorial. I’m still on the fence about getting the Action 4, and waiting for the release of the Hero 12 on 9/13. Great video, Rob.

Thanks for info but a number of your setting recommendations were to be tweaked again in post production. Why not just recommend settings we can use out of the box.
Bought and returned the DJI Action 4 the next day. Requires "Activation" from DJI. Why would a camera require activation? I understand a cellphone or drone but a camera? Called DJI and was told it was to keep track of active v. inactive phones! Huh? I asked if they can deactivate a lost phone to which the said yes. So this means users are being followed by DJI.

Not a chance 😅 i usually apply my signature lut, done. Even less steps
@@RobHK That's even easier. One node for a LUT and you're done. Although color space transforms are more accurate and preferred.
Already have plugins and a calibrated monitor for that
Such a great video 👌🏼👌🏼 just picked up my action 4 I’m keen to see what I can do with my videos Thankyou for this tutorial 🙏🏼
i just acquired it and your video was very useful!, thanks Rob!
Thanks a lot mate 🙌 happy to help out😎

Same
Can you start/stop the Osmo 4 using an iwatch? Will it also warn you on the watch when the battery is low?
This is so helpful!! Thank you

Nice input thank you
Hi Rob how do you get up the waveform
Good video 😊 just got the dji osmo action 4 , what-settings do you recommend for smooth clear 4k street vlogging ?
Auto on everything 👍

You need to go to files folder and see if the drive is there.

Is there a way to colorgrade automatically?
Does -1 on noise reduction mean use less noise reduction and setting to +1 means add noise reduction ?
Correct👍

Hi Rob do you need to shoot in HVEC codec to get 10 bit colour.?
Normal video is h.264 - dlog 10bit is only hvec unfortunately
@@RobHK thanks for quick reply

Ye, as i see it the gopro has nothing but “better” battery to offer if the leaked specs are anything to go by. Hope I’m wrong tho

Yea, all in camera. Insta360 does also have in-camera stabilization tho..
Is it possible to set tint level on action4 itself?🤔
Not tint no, only white balancr
so the only thing i need is finalcut pro?
sorry im a noob 😅
But DJI offer a LUT? So you just use that and adjust as you feel fit?
Thanks for info but a number of your setting recommendations were to be tweaked again in post production. Why not just recommend settings we can use out of the box.
I like it
Do you have luts packed?
Yes, link in description
Clicked the link for your custom luts and got a link broken page. (404)

Comprei a câmera Osmo Action 3, Câmera veio com desfoque, a assistência técnica não quer trocar. Conselho, não comprem
All this work will get you crazy if you have to correcto manually 1000 different footage after 1 week trip.

O K
its to link the app you dumbass
Who cares? Google and other big daddy companies practically know where you take a shit too..l
I didn’t get that why you so paranoid
He made a mistake asking if people have bought it or planning to do so.
You think all other insta360 gopro got no tech that follow the user's?
