I love this unit. Even way better unit than desolator from RA3. You can even forcefire during the deployed state. Just command Desolator to fire in a particular direction and the area coverage in that direction will increase.
I think it got patched in YR, but in vanilla RA2 forcefiring would irradiate the ground so much that it'd kill any unit within seconds, even tanks. Quickly made the Desolator my go-to unit for turtling. Beyond that though, Desolators are still one of my favorite units in RA2. :D
And it can destroy all but ur units if they are close to the radiation that you make them sit like the rocket troopers on GDI they make a radioactive circle it gets stronger if there is more than 1 tye circle can even destroy a tank and ur maybe Allie's not tested
@@e7danny7m no it's underrated cause it can literally destroy a tank but it does not have friendly fire on urself also maybe ur Allie's but the other desolators are Cool
interesting that in all 3 conditions (charging Tanyas, charging Desolators, both charging) the veteran v. veteran battles were more heavily in favor of the Tanyas. more losses for Desolators and/or fewer for Tanyas in veteran v. veteran compared to both rookie v. rookie and elite v. elite.
In general, vet status gives increased health and damage, while elite status gives self healing and a new weapon. The issue is, vet’s status increase is not the same for every unit.
In my opinion boris is superior to tanya like he can shred everything and if you cover him with units he becomes 100 times better plus he have a loner range specially if he maxed out

i love plays against iraq. use yuri or yuri prime to mind control the desolator, deploy him in front of barrack, and then release the mind control.
you havent tested one option: tanyas stand but desolators deploy upon arrival ;D

The Desolator and most of the units in RA2 have such unique visual designs that RA3...for some reason, abandoned for the generic.

Ye. Any unit that cannot attack while moving must fully stop to attack. This means a much slower attack speed as they try to move
