My Brother just sent this to me. I have been a Albert Brooks fan since I was 14 years old.I have never seen this until today. There's funny...And FUNNY, Brooks is FUNNY.Thank You,Flip Wilson for putting him on your show when he was so young.
Oh my goodness. This was hilarious. I came here after waking up thinking of Super Dave Osborne. I’d heard that he died and I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t hear of it. I looked it up and realized Bob Einstein died on my dad’s passing last year. Then I discovered he was brother to Albert Brooks and that... ladies and gentlemen (this silver lining) is how I arrived at this gem of a piece of hilarity. ☺️
Funneeeeee! Of course, I'm prejudiced. I love everything by Albert Brooks! You can walk away from one of his movies without laughing out loud once and still think that this was the funniest movie you've seen in years! His first movie, Real Life is a classic. The precursor to all the stupid reality shows that clog up the TV these days. If you haven't seen it, it's perfect and right on the money! Find it and watch!
"Real Life" is right up there with "Lost in America." Now that one is a true classic comedy film---written, directed and starring Albert Brooks. Note: His real name is Albert Einstein. (Honestly.)

It's a classic bit and I love it. But one thing is clear - although this is being performed for a live audience, its obvious that they laid in the sound of bigger laughs so that it would seem to play better on tv. The people we can see are barely reacting and I wonder if Albert Brooks really appreciated having this "enhanced" in post-production.
Have you seen his picture 'Real Life'? It's quite insightful: broadcast media is unyielding and awesome; it is folly to presume the film will reveal the vision for the picture automatically. The film is only a record of the production. You have to produce an insight, not merely direct a vision. If the ultimate goal is to enlighten the audience, he would surely agree the best course in doing so would be to take advantage of every available means. The commercial breaks are louder than the show. The applause is louder than the show. They're still talking
Several 'Flip' DVD box sets of highlights, and edited half-hour episodes were released a decade or so back. There all out of print now. Since the maximum resolution for this clip is 480p, it was most likely "ripped" from one of those DVD sets.
No. In fact, Brooks isn't his original last name. He's brother of Bob Einstein aka Super Dave. He changed his name coz Albert Einstein, the comedian didn't sound right 😀
🎶Three thousand miles from coast to coast, every citizen has reason to boast🎶. Been stuck inside my head for 50 years.
Yeah, great line.
Making fun of nationalism.
"26 Miles to Catalina"

I remember this so well. I still have his album with the mirror in it.
Funny, funny man!
I remember this from 1972 when it first aired. Thanks for posting. It's been a long time, but funny as ever.
WOW! I never knew Albert Brooks was so talented.
He’s not. Just a Jew.
Likewise. I've seen his movies, and even his early video appearances on SNL back in the 70s. The piano thing is "brand new information" to me.
Try to catch all his movies he's made. He is remarkable.
Never did anything on this level.

Still awesomely funny, but I miss the line from the album version:
♫ As we stand here wait-ing, for the ball-game to start ♫
THANK YOU!
Same here!
“Let’s give thanks for our homes and our two car garage--let’s give thanks for TV!--“
THANK YOU!
How is this funny? it’s very confusing and very irritating and very random and very untalented. Free Palestine Zionist 🖕
Albert Brooks is and always will be a genius 😅

For my money Albert Brooks is one of the funniest men of all time. He is so sensitive and creative. This routine really broke me up.
Not just funny in this bit, but insightful on the nature of "love of country." And yes, humorous and cynical at the same time.
Legend
Last night's home run derby brought me here!

Thanks for re-posting. Genius! 💯
There's a great doc on Albert with Rob Reiner hosting a one on one about Albert's life
Brilliant!
The man is a genius.

@@illygah I did see that movie, and I understand what you're saying but, no offense, you're saying it in an awfully ponderous way.
The audience - Flip's audience - seem to genuinely appreciate the "black guy's" song in there. The more things change ... etc.
I love this Song
Which one?
@@HolmanHal "This Song," by George Harrison.
Wow this was from 5 years ago. Seems a little bit older
funny AF right there, love the sarcasm int he lyrics! 😂
I never knew that Hank Scorpio could play piano!
The dude commits!
Right?!
"You jail all your black."
"THANK YOU!"
How are y’all coming across these clean episodes? 😱🙌🏾

There is something about this dude that just DESTROYS me!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Length or girth?
The first character he does sounds just like Hank Hill lol
He was the original Steve Guttenberg long before they invented Cocoon
I wanna hear albert brooks sing with tom hanks
He dated Julie Parrish around the time this aired.
Growing up in this household must have been insane...
Albert Einstein funnyman OK!
Omg I saw this when it aired...on a Thursday night in 72.. You jail all your black...😬 and I didn't remember him being a musician.
"I hit the mike. Can I go again?"
"GET OFF, PLEASE!"
Whether "hitting the mic" was planned or ad-libbed, it was still very funny.
Prop comics gets a lot of heat but he was great
A.B. is MUCH more than a "prop comic."
HOLY SHIT LMAO
What are you talking about he’s just saying random things. Are you crazy
Randy Newman
Tom sent me here.
Perhaps the greatest satire on nationalism every written. Not just funny. A great deal of truth in this song. A CRITIQUE.
Are you really saying there shouldn't be nationalism in a national anthem?
There have always been traitors and Marxists….
@@MayorMcCheeseStalkerAre you sure you don’t mean patriotism?
@@bocagoodtimes1460Which one are you?
@@ivanostry3359 I mean nationalism. America first. Not America only --- but definitely put our interests first.
I wonder if Peter Jackson could use A.I. to edit out the godawful laugh track?
brilliant comedian. any relation to Mel brooks?
No. In fact, Brooks isn't his original last name.
He's brother of Bob Einstein aka Super Dave. He changed his name coz Albert Einstein, the comedian didn't sound right 😀
@@pruthvish007 thanks for the info.
His father, Harry Einstein, was a Greek dialect comedian known as Parkyakarkas.
Mel's uncle.
Predicted American idol/x factor
Sadly in the 2020’s they did try to change it…..😢
OMG Colbert stole it from Albert
Colbert is a hack.
This is terrible.
