    You did a fantastic job. I'm so impressed with young girls who are so independant and fearless. You and your crew did an amazing job planning the layout and construction. And I love that it is more girly.

    What an amazing life you’re living! I love your van. It looks so cozy. I’m excited to follow your journey. Wish I could have had similar experiences, but I’m almost 70! I’ll have to settle for living vicariously through you and others. Your videography is amazing. Love the drone footage! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful adventures. Looking forward to more videos! Take care & have fun. Fun is so underrated!

    • @ohmercy5924
      @ohmercy5924 5 лет назад +3

      Patricia Burke you don’t have to live vicariously! I’m 70 and I’m planning on doing this next year. I would do it now if I had the means. I’m planning on selling almost everything I own so I can get a vehicle. Probably a minivan since it gets the best mileage. Anyway- if you haven’t found theCHEAP RV LIVING channel yet go check it out. There are great interviews and lots of information. There are many, any older women getting inspired to hit the road.

    • @ohmercy5924
      @ohmercy5924 5 лет назад +3

      Ps- I’ve seen interviews with disabled older folks- even wheelchair bound people. There is such a huge community of nomads out there - with big meetups etc. and it seems like people really try to care for one another.

    Very nice van made possible by your family & friends who invested a lot of their time and patience to help make it a reality for you! The color scheme is so tranquil. The only negative, for me, is that you can’t stand straight up, which would be a major deal breaker, but it works for you than that’s all that matters. Enjoy van life & safe travels! 🙏

    Very nice build, very artsy. I love the tapestry on the wooden walls. The new Ford's have more space it seems, with the walls being more straight up, instead of being curved, like in a Chevy and others. I really like this van build, and I wish you much happiness and inner peace. :-) ✌ (btw, just subbed :-)

    Why did you choose that van? Are you having to make monthly payments or did you find it cheap with high mileage? I'm not sure to go with an older van or one of the newer vans, price and reliability are my concerns. Cute build 😄

    • @AnnaAndRyan
      @AnnaAndRyan  7 лет назад +40

      Honestly...If I could go back and do it again- I would have bought a different van, but I was anxious and sick of looking. I mostly picked it because of the low-mileage and how smoothly it drives. Also it is flex-fuel so it can take ethanol (which is cheaper and better for the environment). I thought a newer van, with low-mileage would have less breakdowns and upkeep expenses. However in retrospect, I wish I had gotten an older, cheaper, bigger, taller van. I paid for it on my travel credit card (to get miles). Paid half of that off, and am now making payments on the rest (with interest). So not the smartest move. Reliability is a big concern, but I guess it comes down to your priorities-because you pay more for reliability haha

    • @nilsbijlsma5633
      @nilsbijlsma5633 7 лет назад +9

      Yeah, I'd suggest getting one with less than 200.000 miles for a diesel, and less than 150.000 miles for gasoline. Which is even more important is how it was used/serviced..

    I love your 3 in 1 coffee maker/toaster/hot plate and the way you designed your space. Those nets are particularly handy as they take very little space, as opposed to actual cupboards.
    You're so beautiful. You look like and remind me of my little sister. You have the same mannerism so I'm already biased and like you loads.
    Kudos to the people who helped you pull this all together. I love the material you used, a kind of paisley, for your sofa/bed and that tapestry is absolutely gorgeous. You're all set for what I pray will be a safe adventure.
    I know you're young, flexible but... You're not finding it hard on your back not to be able to stand up in your van, though? That's the only part which would drive me crazy, specially in Winter time.
    Maybe you could add a DONATE button to your account so people following your adventures might financially encourage you to the best of their ability? I dunno, just a suggestion. How will you sustain yourself, financially?
    I'm definitely subscribing. I want to make sure you stay safe. Your Mom, however excited for you, will no doubt be somewhat worried.
    I don't know you and I already feel this need to protect you not being crazy about knowing you'll be out there alone
    Forgive me, I'm a childless Mother. It's stronger than me to feel protective.
    I'm sure you've already thought about all of this and that you know what you're doing so I'll just wish you a great adventure and subscribe, if only to live vicariously through your upcoming adventures which, I'm sure, will be wonderful.
    Please post often...
    So we don't worry? *brave grin

    That coffee pot/toaster oven is the bomb! I have never seen that before-how ingenious! I absolutely love your conversion-the fabric, the layout, the amazing storage. I am an artist,and so esthetics are really important to me, no matter where I am. I love how even though you are are the road, you are still surrounding yourself with beautiful things, like the cushion fabric, your tapestry, etc. little things like that are so important in day to day life. Question-how is the bucket shower working out for you? The weather is getting colder-do you ever stop at campgrounds or truck stops to takes shower? I can go one or two days without, but after that I start to feel really grungy. I imagine baby wipes or just a wet washcloth could carry you through a bit more, but at some point a shower is a must!

    • @AnnaAndRyan
      @AnnaAndRyan  6 лет назад +4

      Mary Anne Brown thanks and I'm glad you like the aesthetics! It was really important to me to have a warm and eclectic energy in the van since it is a small living space. As far as showers...I honestly haven't used that bucket once. I basically use campgrounds or friends houses on the road and wet wipes in between. It's felt like too much of a hassle and too cold to get out that bucket shower so far!

      Caroline Williams the build minus the battery was about $2k. The goal zero battery my mom already had but it is very expensive... I believe upwards of 1k but most people use much cheaper batteries that work perfectly fine.

    Nice build. Looking forward to seeing more and interested to know what works and what doesn't now that you've been living out of it for a few weeks.

    I was going to set out on a similar trip with my small terrier dog. Then I found out that a lot of the National Parks don't let dogs in and some campgrounds. I was wondering what you do with the pup when you want to go hike or go somewhere without her. If you come to San Diego, come on by.

      Hi Barbara, I've only really had one scenario where it was too hot to leave my dog in the car, so I put him in doggy daycare for the day for about $20 USD a mile outside of Zion National Park. Other than that, all the parks I've been to allow dogs into the park they just don't let them on most hiking trails, so as long as its cool out or you have an AC in your van then you're set. Some of the parks even have designated dog trails. Quite frankly though, if your main objective is hiking then I'd say avoid national parks and/or go to Canada (because all their parks are dog friendly).

    You should make another door like the one with the storage with a dog bed kinda like a dog room
