Generally the reason people do not use things like stone and tile in a camper or van build is the weight. The tires/shocks/whatever car stuff holds the weight, has a weight limit and stone is very heavy. In such a small space hopefully that won't be an issue! At least it will be balanced as it's on the whole floor.
Love this! Can’t wait to see how it progresses! One piece of advice I can give from when I renovated my camper - it doesn’t have to be perfect, but it has to be done. That was my motto and it saved me from giving up multiple times when I couldn’t get things the way I wanted. In the end, no one noticed my little mistakes or that things didn’t line up perfectly, all they saw was my hard work and creativity. Also, things will not line up perfectly! I swear, you can’t find a straight line or 90 degree angle in them to save your soul. Don’t let that discourage you! You’re going to have so much fun on your camping journey! ❤
I feel like this something that small and cute like a pink or a green or a blue would have been adorable!! I’m also seeing vintage wall paper inside!!! Adorable!
Hello miss Rachel. The trailer reminds me of a tent minus the bugs. Anyhoot. A couple of things came to mind. A window on the door. Nothing big just to add more light and or circulation. The trailer deserves a name and I nominate "Cali". If the trailer is for you to get away giving you a sense of peace, Cali gave you that. Lastly, linoleum flooring. It came to mind because its everlasting. I get adding weight, and durability but linoleum. I dunno. Just a thought.
Hi Rachel, think if it was just to be stationery, then Yes, the stone floor, but if it's to be towed then you need light weight materials and easy clean, the heavier it is the more fuel ⛽️ you'll use, and also if ever in a accident ( God forbid) the floor will become a missile and cause lots of damage 💔 😢 please find a better material for the floor.🎉❤
You are a blessing to my soul with your diys. Thank you. I have a 60 yrs old home and I am 68. But I learned so much Diys through your shows. I love living in my home. thank you again.
Love this project! Watch the weight, remember that the trailer will flex and torque a bit traveling down the bumpy roads of life, caulk caulk caulk, kilz over caulk before painting, and enjoy enjoy enjoy!
You’ve learned so much from all your previous reno’s I know you’ll knock this one out of the park. I can’t wait to see what you do. Very wise to plan for some time away from time to time. You go girl!!!! Harbor freight has some good paint sprayer guns but you need an air compressor.
Storage under the bed or something that you can pull into a double - oh my gosh x utilising all that room and I know it’ll be a perfect tiny home regardless 💕 can’t wait to seeee
You still Rock Rachel. I’ve so enjoyed your DIY’s and it’s inspired me many times to get off my butt and do something. You’re real and I love that . Good and the not so good . Us women totally understand ! Love ya girl !’
And to think that in 2010 you were already doing great DIY, while learning how to do kickflips, and today you can build anything, it's really incredible. I can even see a millionaire owner of a construction company 😍❤
Bonjour Rachel, A small renovation, but what a challenge! Small volume but technical: Exterior weather protection Inside, quality materials, as healthy as possible to breathe (insulation, bracing and cladding) High-performance ventilation to remove damp air from the volume. Prioritize sleeping and clever storage. Hygiene and mobile cooking in canteens
I just got my Dachshund puppy, Henley. She's 9 weeks old this week :) The moment where you said "helicopter dog mom," I totally got 😄 Luv all your videos! 🎇
Oh I'm so excited for this! I make RUclips videos in a similar spirit as you (sorta) about my life and after over a year of living full time on the road, I bought a 1970s caravan that I'm planning on totally renovating so I'm excited to see what you do with this tiny space! Small functional spaces are such an interesting design experience! Sending love from my corner of the world to yours kindred spirit sister 🧡
Awesome job so smart to transfer the layout of the trailer to the outside. So much more room to move and you got the flagstone cuts and design really good
I don't HATE that you put down hardiboard. It will help with water intrusion. I did notice that subfloor is showing daylight so I'm worried about waterproofing underneath. Look up the gvwr rating of your trailer and your car. You need to know how heavy that trailer is and how much your car can tow. I don't think it's a lost cause if you've put down the stone tile. You might just have to be super selective of everything else that goes in the trailer. Remember, this isn't a new thing, so make sure it's suspension, axels, etc are checked out and good to go. And, if you haven't towed before, you might consider getting a sway bar on your jeep for safety. I know someone whose husband was killed in an accident on a rollover of the trailer! Anyway, I like seeing you happy. You're healing.
DIY are so mind blowing just to see what people do with there sense of creativity and the finishing result it’s such a blessing to be able to create! Rachel you’re doing such an incredible job. Jesus loves you and I am praying for your healing from the pain of your lost and all your trying to accomplish in this season God loves you Rachel and you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. keep going and I’m looking forward to the master piece that will be completed in the end ! 🙏🏽🫶🏽
Hey Rachel! Nice to see you again ❤️ I personally think that stone is a no go for something that mobile... It will crack and can be dangerous while moving... It is also a lot of weight! I hope you are safe independently of your choice ❤️🫶🏽🤞🏼
Hi, a nice start on the camper. As far as electrical advise if you are going to be running from the Jackery or other batteries I would suggest using all 12V DC components if you can. Using a DC to AC inverter is very inefficient and they can waste up to 20% of your stored energy. Also if you are going as far as to install solar panel(s) for charging the flexible panels are much better than the rigid panels. They can be mounted with a lower profile and are better at handling cloudy days or shade. I've installed a few systems now with flexible panels and have never had trouble getting the batteries to full charge every day in any weather conditions.
ohhhh i am so in love with this camper project!!!! this is so cute and I admire your approach - you doing it your way, no matter what others might say. And also being open about that insecurity, that really helped me. very excited for you to finish and go camping with blaze!!! now I wanna buy a mini camper brb sending you a biiig hug. ♥
This is so fun! I have a similar plan with my pup to just get away with him and go camping or exploring in a new state. Excited to see your trips! I'm also a little scared to go solo camping so we're in this together lol
As a previous manufactured home owner. These structures are not like stick build. The weight can't be sustained and the floor will fall through to the ground. Also, rubber coating the roof seals leaks. Someone used nails with washers on mine... many more leaks. Had to abandon it.
Hi Luv it’s great to try different things but I think it might be worth to swap the floor for vinyl linoleum instead for weight reduction to save on gas 🤗.
Love the new project. That trailer is adorable as I’m sure it will be when you’re done. One thing, please try not to leave any holes where mice can get in. Can’t wait for the rest of this makeover. 👍🏼 to the stone floor. ❤👏🏼👏🏼

I would say those small tires are not rated for the weight you are adding with the stone. Additionally, driving down the road, the inside of your trailer is experiencing about an 8.0 earthquake. Plan your materials accordingly.
Hi Rachel, I'm a new subscriber. Love watching your videos. You mentioned in one of your video that you and Kelly started this journey together. In honor of kelly, you should name your farm Kelly's Farm.
Are you filtering your paint before you put it in your paint sprayer and sending it? Are you thoroughly cleaning out your lines after painting? Not doing both religiously will kill your paint sprayer. I would recommend watching a couple of maintenance videos on YT. It sounds to me like to are getting clogs causing it to back up.
Do you think you might give this little camper a name? The song sundown by Gordon Lightfoot keeps going on a loop in my head for some reason when I you started showing the camper. So I don’t know but I think sundown would be a cool name for it. Just throwing my two cents in for what it’s worth. I think you will make it amazing, I have no doubt.
Honestly Rachel, I don't think flagstone is a bad idea. Keeping the weight closer to the ground, especially if you're thinking about adding higher up cabinets or whatnot, is always a good idea in tiny homes on wheels (unless you need to take legal weight into consideration). Take this from someone that lived in a van with a cat; sweep-ability is ALWAYS good! 🤧🧹

Makes sense - thanks for the intel
Not to mention that these materials crack and campers and such can move a lot, causing cracks.
That was what I was thinking weight and cracking. Maybe watch some remodeling travel trailers for ideas?
Hope the suspension has been checked out as well. Safety first!
Stay tuned for next episode 🙃

I think you did a great job on your camper van rachel and by the way, how tall are you

A lav mic with a pack!
Not knowing anything about construction it looks like the stone would add weight that you wouldn't want to the trailer. Just saying.
Wait until I weld some upgrades! Trust your girl - I just do shit backwards sometimes
Life works for pretty girls lol
